- Turn back the clock to the 6 p.m. Eyewitness News from Oct. 8, 1980. Our top stories include a Jordache Jeans blimp crash, a rat crisis in Rockland County, Ted Kennedy on the campaign trail, a Penthouse Pet who rejected the title of Pet of the Year, and much more.
Most of the newscast is here, except sports.
The anchors are Roger Grimsby and Bill Beutel. The newscast opens cold, with Grimsby talking over the start of the theme music, without the traditional open playing.

Thanks for the memories ✌🏽🙏🏾 Bill Beutel the only one I recognized in this video😳 he died saturday , March 18 2006 at the age of 75 🤔 I was 18 years old when I started watching channel 7 In nyc...didn’t speak any English but did learn a lot by watching 'Eyewitness’

I was 11-1980 was a fun year. I didn't give two shits about politics, religion or anything like that. I lived in Southern California and I was only interested in the NFL and skateboarding.

RIP Roger Grimsby, Bill Beutel, Bob Miller, John Slattery, Milt Lewis & Roger Sharp. Tracy went upstate to WTEN, now retired, don't know Storm's whereabouts, but this was when the news was worth watching!
Storm Field, Born Elliott David Field, November 25, 1948 (age 75) Field was let go by WWOR in 2007 after ten years due to cutbacks at both WWOR and its sister station, WNYW, and was replaced by former WCBS weather personality Audrey Puente. He retired shortly thereafter. Field has two daughters and lives in Westchester County, New York.

The Boy Band Cons” documentary brought me here. Late Alan Gross was telling the story of Jordache Blimp crash, and how Lou Pearlman purposely orchestrated this disaster to get a $3 Million insurance.
October 8, 1980 (I was 8 year old at that time) I was in my 6th year in The Bronx when all this was happening. The NYCTA buses and subway cars were experiencing a Graffiti pandemic. Carter will lose the presidency to Reagan a month later. This new decade would start a development for me that will garnish so many awards along the way

They noted in the promo they were on late, which suggested this was following Game 2 of the National League Championship Series at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia between the Phillies and Houston Astros which I believe started at 3:05 PM ET and was three hours, 34 minutes in length as the Astros won 7-4 in 10 innings.

Can you please upload Eyewitness News from 1971 when Peter Jennings anchored with Bill Beutel. Peter was subbing for Roger Grimsby.

This was following Game 2 of the National League Championship Series between the Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia that started I believe at 3:05 PM ET. The Astros won that game 7-4 in 10 innings in a game that ran three hours and 34 minutes (ABC had the League Championship Series that year while NBC has the World Series).
