30% on target armor reduction is always better than 15ad, especially after durability update last year. There is an argument about ravenous having the highest ad and adding cleave damage but then again being pantheon requires at least some hp so its kinda out of the question

You always go black cleaver on panth, not only because you can instant stack it on whoever your w (which is the person your team will burst down) it also makes you deal almost always the most damage because of pantheon R passive which gives % armor pen + black cleaver % shred + lethality from mythic = almost true dmg to any squishies and even someone who just got tabis gets melted so ye.
Problem is black cleaver + % armor pen with eclipse and pantheon r passive is diminishing returns so its worthless
Game should be designed that shojin is good as a 2nd item into squishies not black cleaver is just staple everytime which means shojin needs a buff
But he's against squidhies anyways so % armor shred is useless

For the following test I will assume one or two 30% Armor Pen/Shred items (for example: Serylda and/or Cleaver, as this is a relatively popular combo). Two 30% Armor Pen/Shred items effectively mean 51% less armor (1 - 0.7 * 0.7). We will assume a 1000AD attack against a 100 Armor target.
With 100 armor, post-mitigation damage will be 1000 * (100 / (100 + 100)) = 1000 * 1/2 = 500AD.
With 30% Armor Pen/Shred, armor is now effectively 70, post-mitigation damage will be 1000 * (100 / (100 + 70)) = 1000 * 10/17 = 588,24AD.
With 51% Armor Pen/Shred, armor is now effectively 49, post-mitigation damage will be 1000 * (100 / (100 + 49)) = 1000 * 100/149 = 671,15AD.
30% Armor Pen/Shred will deal 17% more damage than with 0% Armor Pen/Shread:
588,24 * 100 / 500 = 117,65%
51% Armor Pen/Shred will deal 14% more damage than with 30% Armor Pen/Shred:
671,15 * 100 / 588,24 = 114,09%
So we are not losing that much, and calling it "worthless" is a huge stretch. The more % Armor Pen/Shred you have, the more Lethality is worth, and vice-versa. And with Eclipse sporting such a low 12 Lethality, having a healthy amound of Armor Pen/Shred is definitely not a bad idea.
Of course, not every target will have 100 armor, but I find it a nice middle ground that simplifies calculations, also most champions beyond a level, if they have Tabi's, Zhonya's or tank items, they will reach or even surpass this number. The more armor they will have, the more worth armor pen will be, and the less armor they have, the more worth lethality will be, obviously.

@@luigidragon well the other guy said it and also the bc shred for your entire team fits pantheons role so well, in any skirmish, midgame or lategame teamfigth it helps so much to burst that one target down. And yes bc is also just a better item but I think pantheon just benefits more from it, not in an isolated duel scenario or dps test but overall it fits better and reducing the armor by another 21% makes the lethality that much better. Im at work rn and cant test it but im sure bc (+mythic) almost always deals more damage in a single combo + you wont always drop to 33% hp (esp. because of e) so you will guarantee full bc movement speed passive but not shojins which is important because you need to back out after your combo. I know spear used to run shojin on duskblade pantheon for 1v9 demon build wich felt great because having up e and w that much earlier allowed you to just kill all 5 enemies in quick succesion.

Malzhar, malphite, nocturne, darius, leblanc are all counters if you know how to play but pantheon scale really good agaisnt them

Panth only gets completely countered by nasus and tryn. Any juggernaut, malph, and GP are also difficult matchups. When ppl see spear destroying all these players its not bc panth is broken, its bc they have no panth matchup knowledge and spear is mechanically great
Pantheon is one of GP counters, he can trade really well, can dive, his stun cd is lower than orange and also scales pretty strong.
Gp has to put way more effort to win the lane or even it out

Gp has to go into stun range to poke with Q, his only option is barrels which may not be enough, Solar landed 3 barrels b4 lvl 3 and it barely dropped Spear below 50%, had Solar walked up to passive proc he would've 100% lost that trade dats why the match up is harder for gp.
That is, of course in a even level of skill, both Spear and Solar know very well how the match up goes, if the Pantheon is dumbo then he can very easily lose this lane and get stomped, same way around.

well you are semi correct , panth and tryndmere counters gp soo hard bcause gp is a burst dmg champion and they can avoid lot of dmg with their kits and that is why solar could not win this match up , but do not underestimate gp dmg , gp with ignite can actually even solo kill a darius or any other strong toplaner with his passive reset mechanic .. and i remember solar sayin he has 67% winrate in challenger , im pretty sure spear shot winrate is no where near solars. and gp is a scling champ so dying once is fine ,but his team is loosing too so he lost.
@@pendyalaabhishek8866 the joke is that the game is entirely based on champ select just like the warcraft 3 custom map its cloned from. its why if you watch any streamer for example take only challenger or gm streamers, they never complain about "this player is so good they make x champ look broken" its x champ is broken... because (some excluded) they know inherently having played thousands of games, that some ability is too fast or too low cd or high damage or easy to land...etc but the instant you say its based on champ select not skill..NOPE JUST GET BETTER NOOB!! but skill doesnt matter that is why pick/ban exists not blind pick in ranked. it is why riot keeps more champs broken than can be banned to force games to end. this is a practice the started decades ago in the name of making games more exciting for the viewer and it started with rng being put in to change the outcome regardless of skill, then it just continued to compound as what makes money gets more attention than what doesnt. so you end up with games like world of warcraft in shadowlands where in the final season combat rogues were so blatantly imbalanced that 90% of teams had 1 or more rogues on the team.... and it was left in for the entire season because balance doesnt matter. lower skill caps factors out of your control create a higher pool of top players and a more exciting viewing experience to try to make the game seem more e-sport viable

False lol. Keeg is best NA maybe but spear is top 80+ in Korea as ONLY pantheon. He single handedly fixed the WR of the champ in that server within a month, and mechanically is much better. Keegun is great, and I love his content, but he is definitely not the best pantheon in the world.
