The Oktoberfest or the “Wiesn”, as the Munich resident puts it succinctly - is the folk festival par excellence. On around 104 hectares large and small tents, carousels, stalls and much more will be set up for over 7 million visitors. And this with the help of an organization that is gigantic.
Almost 7 million litres of beer, 95,000 litres of wine, 550,000 chicken and 75,000 pork shaxes are consumed. The energy cost for this great festival is 2. 7 million watts. By way of comparison: this corresponds to about 15% of the energy needs of the city of Munich.
The figures alone show how important and how big the Wiesn is. There are several ways to get an overview of all this. This includes the use of a webcam, which not only transmits the event itself online, but also its set-up and dismantling.
