My mum had a similar idea in the late 1960s, how far away could she get from her family. It was between Australia and New Zealand. She only went home once in the mid 90s and realised that the move was the best thing she ever did.

My family moved to Australia 🇦🇺 from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 in 1977 and yes it takes a bit of time to get used to it and I was home sick so in 1988 I went back to England on a long holiday and that cured my homesickness for good. In 1992 my grandfather who raised me was dying of cancer he had always been homesick as well plus he had always wanted to see Egypt 🇪🇬 I was lucky enough to have the funds so I took him to Egypt and England wonderful memories and it settled him and couldn't wait to come back to Australia were he passed away 3 years later knowing he had made the right decision to move to Sydney Australia. I love England but Australia is by far the best country in the world to live no matter where you come from.

Today's Fosters is not even owned by Australia. The main ones now are Victoria Bitter, Melbourne Bitter & XXXX. In the 80’s It was mainly all Carlton & United brews. The sport or game was called marngrook. It had no goal posts the major elements of the game was kicking the ball high into the air, then leaping to catch it. Tom Wills was raised as the only white kid in his area, and is said to have played the game with the Aboriginal children was believed to have created the game fairly much as we know it today.

Hey Ross. Quick question for you; how long did you rent for before buying? Did you find getting a mortgage easy enough? You’re younger than us though! Worried at 40 and 45 we won’t get approved.
A video on buying (and renting) and the process would be much appreciated!

Hey Ross I saw that you just made this video so I hope you have the chance to read this,
If you're Single, from the U.S, don't make a lot of money like below 15k USD a year, is it recommended that you even consider to move anywhere in Australia? Is making connections and working your way up on a 462 visa still a good way to get PR? (12mo work holiday visa). Australia is quite the vision for me, and even if it requires me to start a completely different job or career that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. But I just haven't heard enough good successful stories from single people who migrated
I just think the skilled migrations is way too complex to consider, I'm only 20 and I think it would even financially burden me if I studied for a trade.
I could make a lot more money staying in the U.S due to my benefits from the military but I personally don't see myself happy even with all the money in the world to continue to live here.
Not sure what to do :/

      @davidjohnpaul7558 Рік тому +1

Well for starters, you need a skill that we need, that we have shortage of. Migration here costs about $20k Aussie...approx $14k USD. It takes approx. 2 years to finalise. Lots for you to think about mate...

Get your working holiday visa. Come out for 12 months, do some farm work and extend it to 3 yrs. Find a nice Aussie, fall in love and live happily ever after.. job done

Come here. Life is more relaxed than the USA. Not only will you get paid more in a minimum wage job. You’ll get 4 weeks vacation time and superannuation (491k) paid by your employer. There are a lot of trades and white collar jobs on the skilled migration list but depending on your age you may be able to come out on a working holiday visa which would be the way to go to try a few places and see which one appeals. I’m sure you’re watching channels from other people that have made the move. That should help too.

    • @ThatJohnstonLife

Try a working holiday visa. Most don't get the luxury of wanting to move when they're still just 20

We are not descended from Criminal elements living on Hulls used as Gaols because Gaols were full to capacity. Eventually sending the Hulls away but after 9months at sea, following Cptn Cook’s map, landed onto the Australian shore.
BYO is so. You drink what you like and that amount you bring is supposed to be your quantity, so over drinking and having an accident or Booze Bus charge, so that the HOST will not be charged for supplying excessive alcohol to you (Irresponsible Service of Alcohol) isn’t going to be an issue.

This is a fine video about someone enjoying their new life and valuing the difference. But something all “migrants” should be aware of is that you never go “back”. You can return to where you came from but it has changed and moved on, and so have you and so have your friends etc. You can enjoy the place ok, but recognise that it is different and value the experience. And I mean migrants to any place from any place. We are always moving forward.

Don't bring the car. Save the expense and use it to buy one here. British cars don't do well here, with the possible exception of Land Rover (and they have issues), and there is no market, no support and dealers. To put it bluntly, the market decided, British cars were shit in the Australian environment.

My parents brought us here in 1958 and in my mother's final years she often mused "I wonder what you kids would be doing now if we hadn't come to Australia".
My reply was always the same. Once I left school I'd get a job and buy a one-way ticket to Australia.
I've taken to listening to LBC in the UK and I heard one of the presenters start an interview with a baroness and he called her by her first name and then immediately back-tracked and didn't quite apologise but he asked "am I allowed to call you that?".
The baroness almost sounded embarrassed that someone was so obsequious.
That, in a nutshell, tells me all I want to know about the psyche of the average Brit when someone on a liberal broadcaster could still be doffing the cap and tugging the forelock.
This sort of servile nature is the reason why they have a welfare state that doesn't have enough money to support a welfare state. At least their peasant nature is not as bad as the Russians but they both still believe in the superiority of their "betters".
That will always be Australia's saving grace - we don't.

I totally agree with you. I have debated with a number of people that we DO NOT have a class system in Australia. Yes, we have wealth and poverty and the in-between but we do not have a deferential attitude to people who have a 'higher ranking'. And we don't have a House of Lords in Parliament! We judge others on their character and regard others as equals. That is what our idea of 'a fair go' is about. My parents were Welsh born and came to Australia in the early 1950s after living in England (with a mix of both in their ancestry) for some time. I was born in Oz after their arrival. My parents and older siblings were the only ones of the extended family to emigrate. I'm very thankful that they did. I have visited England and Wales, as have my parents and siblings, and intend to do so again but I would never want to live there. (And bring on the Aussie republic!)
