I deal too much in really sloppy mud and when something like that goes down in mud, its stays there. You have to move heaven and earth to get them out! Dont ask me how I know. :(
This is the size of the international I drive, not only would you probably have to have a CDL in the states to operate this legally but would definitely limit where you could go. Imagine someone taking this behemoth to MOAB, how long before it's stuck?
usually bridges is about 4.5 metres above ground.. and the legal limit of trucks is avout 4 metres max. Expedition trucks usually goes to around 3.8 metres high... including the a/c unit on top of the box
If he switched to the Goodyear MVT tire they come in the same sizes with just a little bit less aggressive tread ( still military/off road design) but have a 88mph top speed and run a bit quieter.

Saw the 4-wheel version of this on the road around here recently. It was desert tan, appeared to be brand new, looked like it was 15-feet tall, and my first thought was that it was a military vehicle, but looking closer, I realized that it must be privately owned... may have had some type of European tags. Went right to the top of my shopping list! : )

I would love one of these with the lifting top to get that loft. Those are so nice. This guy from Germany was in Yosemite touring North American going all the way down to south America. He had us in for beers. It was so spacious. The huge U table seating. Now only if I had a million dollars and we could import current Mercedes and Man trucks into the US.
@@TrolloTV There are but. I rather newer Mercedes Chassis or Man. Can find parts for them everywhere in in the world. I like the Engines and Drivetrains better than what we have in US. We tend to build off Internationals, BAS and some fuso. Love to get a Zetros chasis. There are work arounds getting them into Canada and then shipping it into the US in pieces. Register them as a Kit.

It's about 3 times that of a pickup truck. So, not that bad. Keep in mind.. if you can pay someone to build this, you don't give one single F how much it costs to fill up the tanks. These are not for minimum wage workers. These are for rich people or older folks who sell their house to make a world tour.

Awesome truck, but where do you take something that big. I know a lot of trails here on the east coast can’t fit anything near that big, way too many tight turns.
Did anyone notice the bottom step going into the cab? It looks to be connected by double roller chain. Neat solution to keep your approach angle and have a reasonably low step. Its probably a lot more stable than if connected by cable.

BTW I run those tires on a four axle airport firefighting vehicle that can hit 140kph, the official guidance is that top speed may only be driven for up to 8minutes before a cooling phase is needed while either at lower speeds or while parked So 55 probably is a good idea for sustained travel but the tires shouldn't stop you from overtaking ;)

Those panels sound like they're made out of alcus like the kind of stuff they use in concrete forms I used to work for a German company called meva that's how I know about the aluminum composite sandwich panel

That’s why European overland manufacturers offer 6x6 and short 4x4. Earthroamer for glamping. Action Mobil, UNICAT, UNIDAN Engineering, Ziegler Adventures, Crawler, SLVR, Volga Trade, Bimobil, Bliss Mobil... they all are the proper expedition trucks.

Really like the amount of thought that goes into these, but given I am less of a 4x4 trail guy, it would be cool to see this concept optimized for the road warrior. Fast, light, all weather, but durable. I wonder what the best chasis out there is to get the basic speed etc....after that, pretty sure these companies can make modules to suit the road warrior purpose.
First, this truck is very limited as to where it can go because it is so huge. Sure couldn’t go where i go. Its just too big. But, if I were driving from Fairbanks to Tierra de Fuego, this would definitely be a great vehicle. Does it make it more awesome or manly than my 85’ Land Cruiser? Now way.
Can you imagine the difficulty of changing a tire on that beast, on a flat piece of road, and then doing the same on a muddy backtrack in the middle of nowhere? Nice overlander, though.

twenty six ton ( 26000 kg ) for the truck chassis. the numbers are amazing on this thing

Big studs = big torque! Torque spec is a function of bolt size and grade/class. For instance, 2100 N-m could be an M30x3.5
This vehicle is 15 years old, the actual MA TGS has 2.600 NM or about 1.950 lbs of torque.
