You can use Kapton tape (aka polyimide tape, used as high temperature tape in electronics) as tubeless tape, if you want to go cheap without the branding. It's pretty strong, also i would always double wrap any tape. Fun Fact: even the DT Swiss tubeless tape is Kapton Tape with black printing on top of it, you can wipe it off with acetone...
@@TraceVelo @jbkltc4469 , Yes I can attest to that, though I'm using it on MTB rims with lower pressure. I do wrap twice, but the tape is much thinner than regular rimtape, so no real downsides there.
About the tubeless tape. On road bikes you need to go around the rim with tubeless tape at least twice because of the pressure. With single wrap even branded tapes will fail, I can tell from the experience. Both, Mac-off and Stans No Tube tapes failed me on road bike when single wrapped. Single wrap is OK on mountain bike wheels, where pressures are generally 3 times smaller.
Thank you for your enthusiasm and awesome sampling. I have to admit i have never taken a chance on cheap bars or seatposts. Had an aluminum pair of bars fold in half on the track in the 70s and my friend Cindi Whitehead had her seatpost head break 8 mils into a 50mi point to point. The great flume race. She road the whole thing standing up and won by a couple minutes.

I bought the tooseek handle bars. When I got them, it looked like they got broken in transit. When I put pressure on them the " crack" never opened but just to be sure I put them on my zwift bike 😅
I started with an OG-Evkin watter bottle cage 6 years ago. Then got a stem, then got a Frame. After that, I got another frame and 3 more waterbottle cages, I paid a little under $600 for each frame, BTW. Got the integrated handlebars when they came out. It all still is in prime condition with no problems. Maddy at OG-Evkin is great to deal with.
Dude, the Mixed 5D saddle is like $35 usd and it’s been great for me. Would love to get your review on it. Also, the Elita One Seatposts and parts are incredible. I’ve been using the Elita One 27.2 seatposts and replacement parts to lighten up the factory post on my Cervelo. Great content overall!
Got the Zeuis saddle based on your recommendation. The build quality is exactly as you described, the ride quality is great. Not sure if the shape is perfect for me, but it’s better and more comfortable than the Selle italia series x that came with my bike, so it’s an improvement. So far have some 400km on it, with a 100km ride and a 50km race.
Congrats on the 100k Luke! Been here since the 1st build and it's nice to see the evolution, of the channel and yours!! About the cleats, another issue is not being inside the dimensions and tolerances, I've tried 2 cheap pairs and none of them worked, really hard to clip in because the dimension was wrong, so not even usable. I'm using some parallel ones but from real brands (not the shimano copies) and I gotta say it's worth, since it got some quality control, and at least here in Brazil the original Shimano is very expensive...
Front garmin/light mounts.. I use a cheap one but put a short piece of single sided draught excluder between the mount and the bars and then tighten up. You still get vibration in the mount but it's damped enough to prevent fracture damage.
I’ve got 2 copies of a 30-ish quid conventional bar. Bolt it to a uno stem and you’re rolling with 300g of bar + stem and nicely stiff. Not nearly as sexy as an integrated bar, but probably lighter and damn near as aero. It’s an rxl-sl. Similar story for carbon seats... Get thick PET tapes for tubeless rim, those are designed to hold heavy electric appliance in place during transportation and can definitely hold the pressure in a tubeless tire.
I brought some RXL bars, a stem and seat post back in 2020. They are still going strong and have been a good buy. I also brought a carbon saddle from RXL. This was comfortable, but tore my old shorts due to a weird design. I also brought some, replica SPL-SL cleats from Merlin Cycles in the UK. Good value, but not as durable as the real Shimano ones.
I brought a bafang 750W mid drive e bike kit with a 20Ah battery off Ali express. So far I'm really really impressed by it. I hope it stands the test of time. Reviews seem to be generally good too from other you tubers. Not sure I'd want to mount it to anything carbon though as its a hefty kit with the biggest battery but great for a traditional bike frame. I do recommend Loctite for the battery mounting screws though.

I’ve had good results for many years with Tesa branded tape (yellow). For just one bike, it’s probably not much of a money saver, but it comes in big rolls, so is much cheaper than bike specific tubeless tape if you are doing a few wheelsets.
I've got those Toseek handlebars - let's pray they last long. At least they ride great and have been through some 1000W out-of-the-saddle-sprinting, bumpy roads and small jumps and do not show any signs of wear yet.
I have been running the TOSEEK TR5500 semi integrated bars and they are amazing. Very stiff, routing was good, and great build quality. Tho they are around 120-140euros, not the cheapest but compared to the rxl handlebar that are basically crossbow limbs they are outstanding in stiffness.
Yeah I've def found that if you spend that little bit extra, the stuff really jumps up in quality. The really cheap stuff is very hit and miss in my experience...
Nice list 👌 I'm running tubeless without any rim tape - I used plugs in the spoke holes instead. It was a real pain to set up, but should be around 30g lighter per wheel. I was about to get a couple of carbon seat clamps to try, but maybe I'll re-think it... 😬

Interesting. Yeah it can definitely be hit and miss with alot of this stuff. I have def seen over the last year or so, if you are willing to spend just a little bit extra, it can get you stuff that tends to be the next tier up in terms of quality

Well, I had the same problem with the saddle tubes but fixed it with a very good industrial glue because the saddle fits perfectly to me. No need to order a new saddle!
I bought a set of those Toseek bars and they were destroyed before they even arrived. Luckily they agreed to send another set for free, which have lasted me a couple years so far and absorb road vibration much better than the aluminium bars that came stock. So yeah, like you say they are very hit and miss.
Good to hear they have lasted! To be honest I have only had one set of Toseek bars totally fail, the others have just felt really flexy... I'm not sure I can trust them 100%

Done over 150 sets of wheels, they done multiple 4islands races and going strong. Have one friend from South Africa who is rolling on that tape for more than 3 years. Only time I had to change them was because of tire lever damage or broken spoke. The tape I use is from Tesa
I bought a very old set of sworks sl carbon stem and handlebars from the early 2010s second hand for £35 in 2017. They have been rock solid for the last 7 years... Expect them to last forever.
Congrats on 100k subs Luke. The cheap integrated aero bars look appealing to me but I'd never trust carbon handlebars. Due to resembling that Scottish Mike Myers character on Austin Powers a bit and having arthritic hands I'd like to have the additional flat surface of an aero bar but I'm sticking to round aluminium until I/you find a cheap Ali aluminium set.
"Mixed" is a really good cheap carbon saddle, I even saw one bike fitter on youtube recommend it and I have been using it for the past 6 months or more. Not a single problem so far, I even replaced it between the bikes and never used a torque wrench.
Hi Luke, congrats on the 100k, well deserved, watching your vids is as fun as riding a bike with a 4bf tail wind. I bought that Zeius saddle cpl of weeks ago and was surprised how comfortable it is. I saw the video and agreed with the saddle option but please don't risk or trust that much carbon accessories! Specially those used in very important places as the axel
Takes a lot to make me laugh. End clip had me in stitches. Bravo on the channels success
Congratz on the 100k, sir Luke ^^
Great video as alwats
Well, I had the same problem with the saddle tubes but fixed it with a very good industrial glue because the saddle fits perfectly to me. No need to order a new saddle!
Hmmm... What glue did you use, I'm tempted to fill it with some 5 minute epoxy, see if that does the trick...
@@TraceVelo I used DELI Automix 02 rapid, a very good composite glue.
Congrats Luke on your 100k plus milestone 👍👍👍
I bought a set of those Toseek bars and they were destroyed before they even arrived. Luckily they agreed to send another set for free, which have lasted me a couple years so far and absorb road vibration much better than the aluminium bars that came stock. So yeah, like you say they are very hit and miss.
Good to hear they have lasted! To be honest I have only had one set of Toseek bars totally fail, the others have just felt really flexy... I'm not sure I can trust them 100%
WOOHOO! CONGRATS Luke on the 100k subs, well deserved!🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖
I got one of the ryet saddles for under 50 quid. Selle Italia boost rip off but 110g. It's really well made and no sign of any issues after about 2 months
Luke a massive congratulations on the 100,000 subs. I’ve been here since the very start and have to say your vids are by far the most hilarious, wackadoodle and….informative vids on UA-cam. I’ve really enjoyed them over the years. Keep up the great content!👍🏻
Most will be offended by you making millions, but I’m just seething about the MTB insults!! 😡😡😡
😂😁😎👍🏻
Thanks a ton Steve! Glad you like my stuff, and I'm only joking about the MTB-ers 😂 I actually REALLY enjoy mountain biking!!
@@TraceVelo No worries Luke. Really look forward to vids. Great stuff. 👍🏻
But I’m just not having it about you going MTB! With that accent, you’re far too posh!! Where did you go Eaton or Harrow? 😂😎👍🏻🥖🥖🥖
I'm a small bike shop from Croatia, and I use tubeless tape from Ali Express and boy that stuff is too good for price. Done over 150 sets of wheels, they done multiple 4islands races and going strong. Have one friend from South Africa who is rolling on that tape for more than 3 years. Only time I had to change them was because of tire lever damage or broken spoke. The tape I use is from Tesa
Congratulations on the 100K subscribers milestone!
I have never used tubeless rim tape. I use medical sticking plaster or "esparadrapo" it works like a charm
Yeah fair enough. Like I said, the mega cheap ones can be very hit and miss 😂
The SMP Gel saddle on my other bike is maybe a bit more comfy but it does weigh three Zeiuses.
Tally-ho towards 200k, bro!
May your 🥖🥖 taste French!
Thanks so much! Yeah glad you liked the saddle, it's definitely impressed me over the last few months!!!
