A clarification, Grisha could only see Zeke and not Eren. He could feel where Eren was though and could hear his voice. He was seeing himself and Zeke through Eren’s eyes. So at that moment he was seeing the future from Eren’s memories. So when Eren spoke to him he actually was seeing himself while Eren was speaking. That’s the reason why he could see Zeke and talk to him because Eren was directly in front of Zeke. So all in all Grisha was seeing the future from Eren’s eyes. He was reliving the memory that Eren was creating in Grisha’s memory. Hope that makes sense. Also Eren cannot see everything at this moment. He can only see his father’s memories. So he sees only the future that Grisha has seen. Later on he can see everything.
He was not aware about everything until he kiseed Historia's hand (who is royal blood). Before that moment at the end of season 3, he did not know anything.

20:18 it all starts when eren kissed historia’s, many people commented on earlier videos that it is an essential hint. Also that is the point when eren became like a soul less guy, his face became emotionless because he already saw everything, did everything in the paths and came to a single result. Think of it as doctor strange in infinity war.
The attack titan can see the future memories of future attack titan users, remember when eren kruger in season 3 said they have to do what they have to do to save mikasa and armin but he said he didnt know them? In this case eren using the paths and the ability of the attack titan to select future memories to previous users to influence grisha into killing the royal family. Thats why grisha asked “is this really what you want eren?” “Is this what will save eldia?”

And you have to remove the comparison with Avengers/Dr. Strange. This is not a multi-timeline story. But a singular one. Eren saying "I tried and couldn't change anything" is because timeline can't change, everything already happened.

It's the most popular analogy, it's just, it sadly create a whole majority of ppl thinking "Eren tried all the possibilities" - when in reality, he couldn't change anything that already occurred (his mom for ex.). Eren starts seeing the whole future after kissing Historia's hand because she is a royal. And Eren can manipulate the past after connecting with Zeke because he is a royal. To have full power of Attack Titan you need royal blood. That's what I understood

After this ep you already know why Eren laughs when they tell him that Sasha dies. He was checking if the future can be changed
Eren memories of the future just activates when he is in contact with someone with royal blood, its like the contact unleashes the full potencial of the attack titan, thats why he didn't know anything in the benningin, it whas from the moment Historia and her father touched Eren, he could access the memories of his father
Grisha wasn’t the one who said save admin and Mikasa. It was the other guy. The other guy died after that. They get to see only what the future holder decides to show them.

I wanna add some explanation on why the future "cannot" be changed. It's actually because in aot universe past, present and future is happening in the same time. Rumbling happened because it's what Eren wants deep down and he can't bring himself to do otherwise. It's some physics shit I don't remmember exactly what is it called. I just wanted to clarify, that it's not that future was set in stone and Eren couldn't done anything about it. He WANTED exactly that. He knew everything only after he made contact with Ymir in the paths. Earlier it was just some fragments of the future (after kissing Historia hand). He was able to see his own future only because he saw it through his fathers "Memories of the future". It's complicated, but I hope it helps
Exactly. the most popular theory is Ppl keeps bringing up Marvel Dr. Strange which... tainted this idea. This is One singular timeline. When he said he tried, and couldnt change anything.. it's becuz it already happened. And to answer the name of it, it is called: "Causal Loop Time Paradox".

@@marcelaaqi That's exactly it. The majority of AoT's audience is basically "Mikasa" from S1 to S4. But we clearly see her thinking/reevaluating Eren on S4. "Maybe i was wrong about him". Recalling him at 9yo with his knife.
lol I get carried away reading comments, cuz philosophying & discussions are such an essential trope of Isayama's AoT. But.. dissapointed to see all these "he did nothing wrong" - "I hate Gabi" - "He did it to protect his ppl" (yes, but friends come secondary to Eren, Primarily he wants to wipe out all the "monsters"). I love Eren's tragic character, def can empathize with his rage. But he was morally wrong regardless.

Eren is definately a tragic character. I also love it that he basically isn't changing through the whole show (or maybe only a little bit). He did it rather selfishly. Against the will of his friends. Not one of them wanted that. He is truly a "slave" to his own beliefs and mindset. In the end he brought suffering on himself, because he had a consciene and knew what horrific things he brought on innocent people. Yet it cannot be forgiven in any way or form.
I also thing that despite all of that the fact that to Armin, Mikasa and the rest he is still someone close and they all love him as a friend (or in case of Mikasa as a lover). Is understandable, because they grew up together and been through so much that you can't really forget about it. Also human emotions are actually quite complicated and not always entirely logical. I don't think that those two things contradict itself.
I love every aspect of this story and could keep talking about it for hours.

I understand the dub of the anime is good. But Grisha's JP voice actor in this scene was elite. The raw anguish in his voice honestly worth witnessing on your own time.

Eren recovered all his memories of the past and the future when he kissed Historia's hand, after that his personality changed.
No Eren didn't know everything until he got the founder's power. Eren at this point cannot see everything in the future. Only what Grisha saw of the future. Because Eren cannot see the future as he is the final Attack Titan. So he can't see the memories of the next Attack Titan as he doesn't exist. Hope you understand.
Eren only got his fathers memories through touching Historia its next episode that he gets access to past present and future
This is a top 3 episode all-time. Maybe #1. GOAT level twist that changes the entire perception of the show up to this point.
Another bit of information is eren got grisha to kill the everyone but the father because the father ended up being the reason eren and historia meet which then leads to eren kissing historias hand and seeing the future of him convincing grisha to kill the family besides the father. Grisha was able to see Zeke and himself through Eren's eyes in Eren's future memories. That means, Grisha actually never saw Eren in his future memories, in fact, no Attack titan's shifter ever saw any other AT shifter in their future memories, only what they would still see in the future. So, for example, in the scene that Grisha is leaving his house and talking to young Eren about the basement, one may think he's seeing adult Eren staring at him, in front of him. But, in reality, he's seeing in his future memory, that someone who would inherit the Attack Titan (wich he doesn't knew who yet), would be exactly there, looking at him from that angle. It's like he was seeing himself through a mirror.

Do you remember the scene Eren kisses Historias hand? He freezes in time for a moment, at that point he saw all the things/ memoies. at that point he began to change, after that point he lost his smile cause he new what happend and what he will do in the future
Grisha hated Maley or even the world. But now it is Grisha think what Eren going to do to the world is horrible and ask Zeke to stop him. So the question is: what horrible thing is Eren going to do?

I've been watching TV subbed most my life so I'm unbothered by reading it. The Japanese dubbers are craaaazy talented, but I'm happy hearing English now. This is pretty good too! I was a hater for no reason 😂
These people won't get it. They have trouble understanding emotions in other languages. Idk why. They also don't realize how much dialouge is changed in the dub version and how bad it hurts the underlying story. You're right though. It's painful to watch the dub.

I think His dad injected eren that’s how he turned and grisha let him eat him to turn into the attack titan. Eren was only able to receive future memories from his future self when he came in contact with royal blood, like Dina Fritz and historian
the English dub isn't doing justice to these scenes honestly. Watch japanese dub later for the real premium content. The voice acting gives a much better feel.
Grisga saw everything because Eren seen it, and Grisha can see what Eren saw, so if Eren see Zik that means Grisha will see him too😊

The Attack Titan power works like An omnipotent power
Which allows the old user of the Attack Titan to see the Future of the current user through his memories, of what he allows them to see, but the current user hasn't experienced the future yet
That is why Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin before Eren was even born, because Eren showed him a piece of his future memories and also implied the thought of him giving Grisha the Order to take the Founding Titans power from the Royal family so he can use it in the future

My theory is the Attack Titan never really had the power to see future memories. It's all Eren's doing. Bear with me here. Eren inherited the Founding Titan from his dad. The power of the Founding Titan is memory manipulation. Eren has partial access to that power when he's connected to Zeke's royal blood. Eren is also connected to all Eldians in the past and future, because he's inside the Path. Maybe his connections to previous Attack Titans are the strongest, so even with partial Founding Titan power he could influence their memory. In my theory, Eren basically used the Founding Titan's memory manipulation power to send his memories to previous Attack Titans, in order to manipulate them into carrying out his plan (the show hasn't gotten into the plan yet). So the past Attack Titan couldn't really see the future. It's all just future Eren giving parts of his memories to them using the Founding Titan's power.
If you did not catch this, Eren affected something in Grisha's timeline. When Eren wasn't even a titan then. Eren talked his dad into it. And Eren's dad said "he wont show me". Keep in mind, memories were erased with titan powers, which is why no one remembers them, as that was covered before. This isn't meant to spoil things, just to piece them together. This is hard to follow, but if you think about it, Eren is doing a lot of things here. Your discussion was verrrry close to correct. You'll see in due time. I personally don't recall if Grisha is able to see Eren or not since Eren wasn't a titan when this was happening (the royal family bit), but it is extremely important to know that all of that happened when Eren was 10. Eren was born in 835 and the attack in this episode was 845. While the fall of zhigashina was happening. Idk if the show ever says its the same time, but its in the timeline.
Eren cannot see his own future because the attack titan can only see the memories of the future holder of the Attack Titan.
But then Eren ate Grisha who happens to have seen the memories of the future Attack Titan holder which happens to be Eren himself. So Eren inherited the future memories Grisha saw. Including the memories of himself gaslighting his own father to murder the Reiss family. And Eren understood his role.
All of which was unlocked when Eren kissed Historia's hand. And the power was hinted at when Eren Kruger mentioned Mikasa and Armin's name.
The setup to this important episode was nothing short of amazing.
Future eren could only send his select memory back to grisha. The young eren doesn't know them, because it's with grisha's memories. But if eren touched a royal blood he could unlock those grisha's memories.
So the only way eren could see his own future is by touching someone with royal blood and then gain access to grisha's memory which will contain the future eren memories that future eren sent back to grisha.
EREN HAD NO CLUE ABOUT THE FUTURE UNTIL HIS KISSED HISTORIAS HAND !!! That’s why he had trouble turning into a titan

If they go with Zeke's plan, remember that it would force Historia to become a titan (so that someone else with the founding titan, such as Eren, can touch historia while she is in titan form and use the Founder's Power). This was shown when Eren touched Dina (in titan form) which is how he was able to control the titans in that one episode.
Eren does not want Historia to have a short lifespan due to the titan curse. Historia and her future children would be sacrificed after every 13 years until the entire Eldian race dies out.
Eren does not want that to happen (even if Historia would agree or be okay with it).
Eren knew pretty much everything just when he kissed historia's end cause it triggered his power cause shes royal. So eren just litteraly had the biggest spoil in thé World.
Y’all are currently are where we are were at one point trying to figure it out lol. So the attack titan can see the memories of future holders of the power. So when Grisha sees zeke, he sees zeke in Erens memories. When they were in the basement and grisha thought it was a dream when he saw zeke, he was seeing erens future memory of him in the basement with zeke traveling the memories. So basically anything that grisha sees in the future, is stuff that happens to Eren
To explain Grisha can only see the future through Eren's eyes because attack titans only can see memories from future users. Attack titan power, he can't see Eren because he's seeing through Eren's eyes so he saw Zeke because Eren was looking at Zeke. Lol very simple 😂
Grisha is in Erens POV, thats why he see to zeke in the final, But he cant see all memorys of Eren, Eren can control what he sees.

Basically future and the past happen at the same time, a loop, a cycle, geisha SEE the future through Eren memories, Eren eyes, Eren perspective . It's a paradox, the past influence the future and the future influence the past. He have to go through those problem to fulfill the future
