When they first moved there, the view opposite the livingroom window was the door to the hallway of the building NOT THE KITCHEN!! The kitchen was on the same wall as the livingroom window so both the kitchen and livingroom shared an outside wall! Now when she shows the cat's water glass.. the kitchen is right there! I thought when she did her recent cooking video that we could see the change out the kitchen door but doubted myself and now I just feel SO sure that this isn't the original apartment!! I believe Chantal and Salah's marriage is Nikah mut'ah. Basically a loophole to marriage. The man sets a predetermined amount of time to be temporarily married to the woman and when the time is up, the contract can just be torn up, the man owes the woman nothing. People can use it as a legally acceptable marriage in the middle east without being married in EVERY regard.
Doesn't this cause problems with the state authorities, especially if one or both spouses are immigrants (Salah is an immigrant, Chantal is generally just a tourist).
Because either you are legally married (the state fully recognizes your marriage) or you are not married. It's like you can't be half pregnant. Either you are or you're not.
It looks more like a way to be married in the eyes of society, so that no one blames or judges.
@@hedaheda1609 In the middle east it is true you cannot spend time together in a hotel apartment exc if you arent married. Some people vacation during the summer, or have other times that they just want a ... "Lady friend" they will go ahead and get a temporary marriage so they are able to room together. There is no family involvement, no obligation to the woman such as vowing to care for her exc.. and it is recognized by the government. That being said, it's a TEMPORARY way to spend time together. I would like to note there are other reasons people go this route besides rooming up, but in this case... That's how it looks to me. I don't think Chantal understood the laws of the land and Salah very much so gets it. She understands now.

About hotels - it reminds me of the times in the former Soviet Union, when an unmarried couple could not stay in the same hotel room. People had to show their passports with the necessary stamps to prove they are married (unlike in the US where you can just pretend to be Mrs and Mr Smith 🙂)

About the AirBnB yup, that's what I've been saying. I think that's a furnished place she got once back from Canada that last time. I think he's still in the old place w/ the old furniture. It's why she slipped & said she "had to go home" in a recent stream, why she said "Salah has to go back to his apartment" recently... AND why she said from the jump that she cannot get mail there. Mail isn't a problem, in general.. it's that her name isn't on the old apartment. Even she just said around the 2 hr mark, that if they aren't technically married, can't live together or sleep in same place.

Based on a search online “Under Kuwaiti law, expats can marry through the court only if both of them holds a valid residency in Kuwait. If you are holding a tourist visa, you can’t marry there”. So even if it was possible, she doesn’t have the right visa (as she admitted) to get married civily.
