Isn’t it ironic how every torturous marble type game moment is always related to a spiral/curve, this and Dedication are both curvy levels with gravity mechanics (idk what the word is) where you’ve got to stick to the wall/floor

The insanity, the 5 stages of grief Vinny witnessed on tornado ring is comparable to that first dedication moment from the marbles stream, and it feels good to know that it'll only get harder from here(aka more screams)

the weird little quirks of this game engine bring me right back to playing monkey ball 2 at my babysitter's house. sm about the way the minimap is literally just a second camera angle on the level and the way you just accelerate forever if you fall off and the constant schizoid monkey noises. man what a good game. i love how it hasn't changed at all
That Ancestor bit has all the hallmarks of a Rot-bit - it might have seemed harmless for now, but I'm confident the bit has already taken root/rot in the smooth Malpert, slowly filling the empty hollows left by The Worm. All it needs now to truly bloom is for Vinny to find himself unable to stop musing it randomly in his daily life, and then to appear randomly in one more stream - and it's game over.
Ancestor bit for the rest of 2024 - Ancestor Season / Ancestor Sauce.
People were paid his money to make guttural primate noises with dramatic tones for this plot. A plot for monkeys inside gacha balls in infinite voids collecting bananas fast.

Putting aside the fact that the Trojan Horse likely didn't actually happen, Vinny's ancestors almost certainly wouldn't have been inside it. The Romans claimed that their legendary founder Romulus (also probably not real) was descended from Aeneas (again, probably not real), who was a character from the Iliad who fought on the side of Troy.
The Aeneaid always sounded like head canon rewrite origin story for the Roman Empire to say that they are actually descendents of the ancient Greeks. It's like they just wanted their own Illiad so they could be cool. I mean why not steal all of Homer.

One of Snorri Sturluson's (the author of the Norse Poetic Edda) theories about the origin of the Norse gods was that they were deified, mythic bastardizations of Trojans who came to Norse lands after the fall of Troy. There's zero evidence for this, and nobody seems to believe him, but it's weird that this theory happened twice.
@@LonerlRelnol-mo1kfThe beauty of ancient cultures, and even ours today in modernity is that stories get passed around and written in their own unique ways to push forward their heritage as a symbol of pride for their roots. The fact that the Aeneid was written in homage to the Trojans (not the Achaeans, the ones living on the Peloponnese) nearly 7-800 years later is a testement to time that keeps humans interested in world cultures and events.
Anyone could have written a spiritual successor of the victors (the Achaeans), like Homer did with the Odyssey, but it takes someone very confident in their vision, to write an Epic about the losers like Virgil did for the Aeneid.
thx for this comment chain. It brings sanity as anytime Vinny does history and/or mythology in this case, he mangles it and the chat then ruins it further and it irks me so much.
The only thing I can add here is that it's not outside the realm of possibility for Vinny's presumable early 1900s first generation Italian immigrant ancestors to have had some kind of Trojan heritage.
If we suppose Vinny's lineage had children every 30 years on average, then at the time of the Aeneid (again, apocryphal), then he would be about 106 generations apart.
This means Vinny had at most uhhh 10^32 ancestors at the time. So I think there's room for some mediterranean intermingling somewhere in there.
You know when you do the math, it really puts into perspective how interfamily fuckery is going on.

I always love when Vinny rages at a level even despite him doing it wrong. His insistence to do the 'Tornado Ring' level by "cheesing" it and trying to ride the half pipe for no reason made it way harder than it needed to be. Which isn't a problem, but it's like playing a game blind folded and questioning how the devs expected a player to beat it blind. If you do it the hard way, it'll be harder, go figure.
Vinny's speedruns are what I tune in for 🙂

Watching these Chimp Sphere videos and all I can think is "Why is it not "Fell off" instead of "Fall out" or "Time's up!" instead of "Time Over". They got someone to say these things in very clear English but almost all of the lines are phrased entirely wrong. It's maddening how close but how slightly off they all are.
The "Ready... Go!" is like the only correct one.
