Norm is definitely an acquired taste. What I love is how it’s not so much his punchline, but the way he grabs your attention and brings you along for the hilarious ride which always makes me laugh. I watch his videos before I go to work to start my day in a good mood.

Being an alcoholic, sober 3 years, and having gone to meetings..I was left with two impressions. First time I went this old fella stood up, must be 75? Goes on this tale of the demon rum much like Norm describes...he says how this leather coat he's worn is a representation of his life given onto alcohol. He pours out his booze and throws the jacket into the st Lawrence to be swept away forever. Hearing that I was in awe. It was truely inspiring. Then I go to the next week's and the following weeks meetings...and he says the same story.. That changed my mind about meetings right then. Remember who you are and dont live in the past.
I am 12 years sober. I quit going to AA meetings after I realized that there are people who have replaced their addiction to alcohol with an addiction to AA. When someone who has been sober for years, is still struggling with it daily, the program is flawed. Meetings are great at first when you need the help. But the goal should be to not need meetings. Some people replace one addiction with another. At least being addicted to AA meetings is safer and wont destroy your life but it is still allowing alcohol to control you.
I've been goin to meetings on and off since 12 years old lol probation made me go but im now 47 and have been clean since1/2/18 the meetings and all just didnt so it for me I've got me a little group of people for support and I've made such.progress in past 4 years or however long its been I honestly lost the desire to inject chemicals into my veins I do talk to a buddy of mine a good bit we lean on each other he's been clean roughly the same amkunt of time I forgot my point while writing tjis lol we can and do recover congrats on 3 years keep it up buddy

Norm is absolutely coveted online more than any comedian. That being said he is STILL underrated. He doesn't have the best specials, movies or the best sitcom but he is in my opinion the funniest person to live in the history of the earth just walking around being himself.

I'm an alcoholic, I can drink a forty and still speak coherently, do my choirs, hold down a job. After cancer took my mom and my dad in their 50s, 7 years apart, I started drinking. I've never black out, got violent, I just have a sore liver and a bung heart from the drink... It's messed me up, a forty to me is like a six pack of cools to a sober person. I'm drunk right now and could drive 100 miles... I never have and will never get behind the wheel, but I could because booze is like water to me, I can't get help because I don't want to. When I'm sober I'm so depressed that I wanna check out. Alcoholism is a disease and I have it. I love the channel my dudes, best react channel on all of YT. R.I.P Norm
Been there man. A series of unfortunate events made me drink 3 quarters of a bottle of whiskey each day for years. Was perfectly functional, didn't spend a day of my drinking life out of a job. Was even promoted to team leader during my during my darkest days because I was simply on autopilot. But behind the façade I was a dead man walking. Didn't enjoy anything anymore, the only way to make life bearable was drinking myself silly within minutes of getting home after work. I'm sure I can't put myself in your shoes and know how much you're suffering, but I do know I've experienced the same mindset as you in a way. Life can be a bitch and kick you in the nuts repeatedly in the worst possible moments, but if you keep in mind that if you keep putting your best foot forward and try to find enjoyment in the little things in life, you will get over this, and find happiness in life again. I didn't even quit drinking, but I'm not a slave to intoxication anymore, and enjoy every minute of my life now. I work out daily and I'm in the best shape of my life at 42. There was a time I was sure I would never feel like this again, but I was (barely) strong enough to hold on, and I'm so glad I did. Be strong bro, and you'll make it. Take care.
