They calculate distance automatically using a calibration mic, such as Pioneers' MACC & Yamaha YPOA. Also speaker distances can be inputted manually like your unit. Great review…..I’ve just fitted one into a friends Subaru Outback. Was just wondering how you managed to do the custom wallpaper…..I’ve been scratching my head over it for days now! Cheers….love your work
I made the image myself, but you can do it with any image or photo file you've got. You've firstly got to get it onto the head unit somehow - the easiest way I found was to send it to myself via email, and then access my email from the head unit... and download the file. You can then go to the file browser app, find the image and there's a button to set as wallpaper. I currently don't have the car with me to confirm these steps exactly, but that's how I remember it. Good luck!
@@MotoringBoxTV Hey....thanks so much for the prompt answer. I literally found the 'set as wallpaper' button half hour after I posted the question. I made the image in PS and then loaded via a USB stick. Thanks again!
I bought the 10” screen back in 2022. I saw it on Aussie Arvos when they installed the device. I’ve had a problem with mine, I had to send it back to China. But the replacement was perfect! The amount of applications I have on it now. The kids have now taken over the radio 😂
hi sean/shaun thanks for another video. i never knew I wanted to watch a video about a ralliart magna. when are you going to supercharge this. rpw over in western Australia should be able to make a kit for you with a sprintex supercharger, like what was on the tmr 380
Haya matey. I remember our Magna had a switch on the OEM radio, to choose radio mast height (half or full). When fm/am was used the radio mast would extend, but stay up til engine shutdown.
Thanks Sean. Was not aware of these, and with my 22 year old Ford factory stereo & factory speakers still in use, this maybe the update I sorely need. How are those speakers you replaced in the Ford lasting? Stay well and thanks for the content as usual.
Hey mate absolutely love your videos, you inspired me to get my own ralliart. #460 manual pewter no sunroof. I have got alpine type R's all around and some hefty subs in the boot. Sounds mint atm but wanting something more modern and this one looks really good but dont want to compromise audio quality. How have you found the audio quality so far? Love your stuff mate
Good to see a fellow cyberpunk 2077 fan Also audio quality for wired android auto is better, plus less connection issues. I can tell the difference anyway on my Mark Levinson system in my Lexus, depending on your car's audio setup of course.
I have a 2013 ford expedition EL Audiophile. Had a bad install experience with a Belva BMV734. Mostly the swc would not program in. As all swc vdc would show the same?, i really like the features and feedback of the Atoto. Would I have a seemless install with access to the SWC? I just don't want to keep swapping out head unit after head unit. Any input would be great... And my back up camera is hardwired spiced to RCA wire for oem rear cam to work 👍...
I use the Samsung wireless phone holder mounted to the right air vent. Got my favourite 2006 Alpine 5.1 surround sound front 3 way component speaker system with added 2023 Bluetooth. Yes the blue wire and blue white wire - Amps and one for power antenna. You have lots of good points 👉
I had a couple of issues with an older Atoto in my EB, but it was more hardware, I went with a Joying again, and also have an Eonon in my AU. But I've had both since before wireless android auto was common, so I might be up for something new for the AU soon😏 the Joying is the only one that works with my EB dash though. It's great that we can afford them without having to fork out for Alpine or Sony money!
In regards to the Antenna . I looked up manual ( not sure if exact model ) but seems there is 2 turn on wires one for Antenna stated as Blue and one for Amp that is Blue and White that turns on when car turns on 🤔
Hi Sean, just wanted to ask, what was the head unit install like? I'm interested in fitting an ATOTO head unit to my VT Commodore. Is fitting an issue given the fact that the head units are slightly different to the factory double din size in these cars? Thank you
i had a $50 BT touchscreen head unit that died on me a week ago after just on 2 years, i think this might make the list to replace it considering you can customize the screen! how is it at night? does the background go to a black back drop or does it slightly dim? My $50 unit was like watching a documentary about the sun it was that bright! if you mounted it to the front bumper it could have been a light bar!
Sorry for the late reply on this one - when you turn the lights on it'll dip to a lower brightness. So essentially the unit has two brightness settings - one for when the headlights are off, and one for when they're on. It works well at night on the lowest brightness - easy to see/read without throwing out a ton of light. Android auto automatically switches to dark mode too.
Beautiful unit! Unfortunately almost every modern head unit no longer has that power antenna option control. Even many Alpine units lack that function now. Cost cutting measures!
Hi, I'm looking to upgrade the head unit on my 2007 Audi A3. It was quite well equipped for back then, with Bluetooth (for phone calls only), a 6 CD autochanger, steering wheel controls and a Bose amplifier and subwoofer. Do you think the Atoto A6 can work happily with these older technologies? Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Hello! We have recently launched a brand new product. We are looking for people who are interested in automotive equipment and offering free trial opportunities. If you are interested, please contact me.
Check this link for the files: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1JcR7N7PX9rRCC6CMwqfumbRmBlI8uw2_?usp=sharing I don't have access to the head unit currently, but you can transfer them to the head unit via USB, or by downloading your email app (gmail, outlook etc) and emailing the files to yourself. Give it a shot and if you need further help let me know.
In this video, with Android Auto touch the microphone button and ask directions and the unit responds with audio. However, when I am on Google maps and ask it to navigate it marks out the route with a thick blue line, but only once in about twenty attempts does the unit respond with audio directions. Both GPS and WIFI are connected and speaker is not muted. Do audio directions only work reliably when Android Auto is on screen? Android Auto, other than appearance on screen, seems to duplicate functions of APPS already installed in the ATOTO unit. Does anyone know the settings so that audio accompanies navigation directions when using the Google maps APP that is pre-installed in ATOTO? Having to glance at the screen while driving is a distraction.
Like your video on the Mitsubishi as a newcomer, like you I tried a few cheap Android head units and they are garbage. So after watching your review I bought the Atoto and it is very good - startup time is brilliant and I've upgraded the TJ Sportswagon dash with Verada fake wood - with the sli surround supplied it looks near factory. Thanks for the review.
Thank you for the detailed overview! In the video, Android Auto seems laggy in comparison to the normal screen. Is that accurate? Or is the camera confusing my eyes?
Perhaps a little, is never been slow enough for me to notice that, let alone bother me. It's probably more so the latency between the head unit and the phone.
Thanks mate. Nice production quality! Content was helpful too, I just went from being a brand snob to wanting to buy this. PS. Shame that you're on the Northside 😁
is it truly not a drain to worry about? not sure if I'm convinced forced sleep drain on battery won't be a problem. shopping for a vehicle that won't be in my garage, no block heater, cold Canadian winters.
I'm curious how they achieve a 2 second startup time. I suppose the easiest way would be if the head units has its own battery, which would explain why there's no noticeable current draw on the car's 12V battery - at least not until the head unit's battery starts to go flat. Alternatively I suppose it's possible the head unit suspends all 2 GB of its RAM to internal flash memory, then swaps it back in on the next startup. But I don't think the flash memory would last very long if that task was repeated often. I'm not sure it could be done in software in only 2 seconds either.
G'day Sean, informative video. I've been looking at updating my head unit for a 2006 Ford Falcon BF. Would this head unit fit into an aerpro cradle for this model car?
hey sean, recently stumbled onto your channel and been enjoying the magna content, recently got myself a tj magna. originally had a verada as my very first car at 18, so things have come full circle now that im 35 haha. after doing some research and watching your video, i decided to give the atoto a6pf a go also. quick question, the headunit has a power antenna lead, just wondering if you gave that a go to solve the antenna always being in its raised position. havnt got around to installing mine as yet, but wondered if you tried wiring that to the factory lead off the magna. i was reading on a page that even when wiring it in, the antenna may stay up for 5mins even when switching off from radio, but the person was referencing an older atoto model and that was a few years ago. so yea, if you gave that a go or had any luck besides wiring in a sperate switch id love to hear your work around? cheers mate and keep up the content
My issue was from using the atoto antenna wire connected to the car's factory antenna wire - I solved it by adding a switch to it so I could disable it entirely when needed. I mounted the switch inside the storage bin which sits underneath, and it's completely hidden which is awesome. Fixed the issue perfectly!
@@MotoringBoxTV ended up installing it tonight, put the head unit in, gps antenna, mic, reverse cam. she's all good, and yea ran a switch to the glove box, so i can disengage the antenna when not needed. which in my case will be 99% of the time haha. now to see how it holds up in the coming months, but so far im pleased 🙂
hey there sean, been almost a month now and im really enjoying the headunit. i did notice wireless AA was sapping my phones battery quite quickly, so i just use regular bluetooth connection and turn my phones hotspot on connect the atoto to the phone and use the headunits built in apps (google maps), that really helps save the phones battery. quick question, which obd bluetooth scanner did you end up going with. im trying to find one for my 2002 magna. cheers and keep the magna vids coming 🙂
Hey mate great video! Before purchasing I'd like to know how plug and play the harness could be? I'm a very simple user and installed the current pioneer unit but paid extra to make the Steering controls work easily... would this be as easy as plug and play? Thanks
Depends on the existing wiring in your car - so it's a bit hard for me to tell unfortunately. If the pioneer uses standard ISO connectors, the ATOTO has a harness which will plug straight in.
Thanks again, I bought the A6PF-A2 Model. And steering controls were pretty easy after all and install went great. Mine still however takes longer than yours to boot up still going through the Atoto and then Google logos first.. any suggestions?
@@pathellak2688 try, or use a volt meter to see which power wire stays on constant, and which one only comes on with ignition. If they're swapped, the unit receives no power when the car is off... hence the cold boot every time.
My go to has always been Sony for head units. My VT has a XAV-1000 which is great but Apple car play only. My VY had a XAV-XA205DB which I've come to find is extremely rare as it had everything Android Auto, Apple car play, CD, DVD, Bluetooth, digital radio, am, fm, 3 reverse camera inputs and probably many more I've forgotten. I'd be keen for the finalists for your choice of units and why you chose the Atoto
Great review mate just installed mine.. a couple of questions. Everytime i turn it on it goes through the long startup like 10 to 15 seconds do you know how to fix that? And secondly are you able to make it go straight to android auto on startup? Appreciate any help
You may have a wiring issue - I don't recall the wiring colour, but there's one which supplies 12v even when the car is off. If that isn't happening it would be long booting every time the car turns on. As for Android Auto, there's a setting to decide whether the unit boots to home screen, or straight into the last app you were in. Again it's in the options somewhere so have a look through. My car is at the paint shop so I can't check it sorry!
That's ok mate appreciate your help. I think when I fix the wiring issue the Android auto might be booted into as it is might be a issue with the memory thanks for your help
That unit looks really good. On the aerial thing: if you have a spare factory button space on the dash somewhere, grab a button from a wreckers. You can intercept the aerial power through it, and to anyone it just looks factory but to you who knows, it controls the aerial. I did that with the handbrake switch on my head unit. A second fog light switch in a factory spare hole is now my "handbrake". If I spend some more time doing wiring things, I'll be able to make it light up with the headlight illumination and the on/off indicator light.
I put in an antenna switch in my EF Fairmont because I didn't want it going up and down all the time - I didn't have a blank spot on the dash sadly so I hid it under the centre stack in front of the gear selector - it wasn't the neatest install but it's hidden and it does the job!
HI I have a few deferent Atoto's installed in various cars and been pretty happy with all of them ... what i have not been able to acheive is a short cut dial from the home screen.. oh and way of switching the hotspot on my phone when it picks up the unit .. any thoughts anyone .. nice demo of the new unit thanks
For the Hotspot you may be able to check out the Tasker app, which apparently lets you set up automated tasks like this. 1. Car BT detected 2. Hotspot ON 3. Car BT not connected 4. Hotspot OFF
These units are great if your car doesn’t have an integrated ICC or BCM module where all the electrics are controlled via the cars BCM bus. I ripped out the Overline android ICC unit replacement I had in my BA Ghia. The reverse parking sensors would not work and neither could I program a remote control fob, and my powered left side mirror stopped working. The lesson for me is, when your car has electronics managed by a BCM unit, then after market head units will not work seamlessly. And my car is 18 years old. I’ve gone and bought a $15 usb Bluetooth doohickey from K-mart which does the trick!
Interesting and thanks for this review.. I’m thinking about buying one and I see your promo code etc is still active.. my question is how current is this head unit?/How long has it been around for? Id hate to buy it and Atoto drops an update in the hardware? I’m keen on this one over the touchscreen button version as people complain they aren’t always responsive. Good to see another Aussie Auto channel too. 👍🏼
A6PF is still listed on their website, so still current. When I reviewed it I think it was a fairly new product (from memory A6PF was the new version of the original A6). Units like these often don't receive updates, but the apps within them (especially Android Auto) received multiple updates during my ownership. It has been a really solid unit during my ownership - no bugs, crashes or any weird things happening. So I definitely still stand by the review!
@@MotoringBoxTV Looks like I'll have to grab one then.. to replace the sad Ousmin unit which is super inconsistent in many ways.. (it was down to Ousmin and Atoto previously.. looks like I chose wrong). Thanks for the fast reply too Sean.. I was expecting to check back for a response in a months time lol.
@@MotoringBoxTV well it’s all installed now and looking good. I will probably buy one or two more for my bro and my ex. It connected up fine to my non Atoto rear cam which also has a distance readout on the screen. I’ll probably buy the TPMS for android and add that too.. one question remains.. what’s the story with the DAB radio on this unit? It appears to have a port but it has a rubber boot over it.. I have a DAB radio antenna which I could add but I can’t see much documentation regarding the existence of DAB radio on this unit apart from a preinstalled app. Do you know much about it? Thx
Hey mate! Curious how this thing is doing 9 months down the line!? Looking to pick one up for my Toyota Aurion here in Australia and I'm wondering about the longevity of this device, thanks very much!
I saw a lot of reviews and you are the only one who connected android auto without purchasing the adapter, how did you do that, is it possible to connect somehow without spending money on the adapter?
So what’s the sound like? And fm radio reception? The old factory head unit in my 120 Prado has good sound but fm reception is poor, and of course the nav is ancient and not very user friendly.I am looking to replace but for me sound quality and radio reception are key requirements, as I commute 100km each way to work in a regional area.
Sound will depend more on what speakers you are running, and likewise I would say FM reception has more to do with the antenna rather than the headunit. But having said that the unit sounds great in my car and has excellent reception.

I bought the 10” screen back in 2022. I saw it on Aussie Arvos when they installed the device. I’ve had a problem with mine, I had to send it back to China. But the replacement was perfect! The amount of applications I have on it now. The kids have now taken over the radio 😂
Don’t forget the DVR dashcam! It hooks upto the screen! You can watch recordings and also do transfers also, without having to take the SD card out!
hi sean/shaun thanks for another video. i never knew I wanted to watch a video about a ralliart magna.
when are you going to supercharge this. rpw over in western Australia should be able to make a kit for you with a sprintex supercharger,
like what was on the tmr 380
Needs a turbo I think! And AWD
Speakers have never had an issue - they are great units.
Awesome 😎 system mate.
Love the gran turismo 3 music my guy
Excellent upgrade
Good to see a fellow cyberpunk 2077 fan
Also audio quality for wired android auto is better, plus less connection issues.
Please I need a work through how you enable wireless android Auto on the head unit
I've seen two versions of the A6PF buttons on bottom and on side, can you tell me which one is the current model?
But it's exactly alpine and Sony prices
I just pulled the antenna fuse on a previous car. 🤙
In saying that, I tried it in a Commodore once and it was also the HAZARD light fuse, so ensure its isolated.
do you have an other link to buy it, the one you put, doesn't work?
Love the review thank you! How as the A6 held up after a year?
Still perfect, no degradation in performance or anything else weird.
Bluetooth phone calls, how's the quality for person receiving the call, and does it come with a microphone?
In regards to the Antenna .
I looked up manual ( not sure if exact model ) but seems there is 2 turn on wires one for Antenna stated as Blue and one for Amp that is Blue and White that turns on when car turns on 🤔
I just got this unit for my 2007 Kia Sorento. That said, it may be a bit before I install it given I need a wire harness and maybe a double din kit.
Nice unit. I just bought a Subaru Outback specific unit, Hope its as good as that
Hi Sean, just wanted to ask, what was the head unit install like?
I'm interested in fitting an ATOTO head unit to my VT Commodore.
Is fitting an issue given the fact that the head units are slightly different to the factory double din size in these cars?
Thank you
Install is very easy, but not sure about your VT. You may be able to search online and see how people handle the double din situation.
i had a $50 BT touchscreen head unit that died on me a week ago after just on 2 years,
i think this might make the list to replace it considering you can customize the screen!
how is it at night? does the background go to a black back drop or does it slightly dim?

Which is 2 din CarPlay unit AND 360 cameras WITH inside dash screen and TPMS? Thank you
@MotoringBox how is the sound quality on this unit?
please send a link to get the ralliart splash screen and how to load it, TIA!
Might be able to upload the image file somewhere. Give me a day or so and I'll see what I can do!
Check this link for the files: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1JcR7N7PX9rRCC6CMwqfumbRmBlI8uw2_?usp=sharing
I don't have access to the head unit currently, but you can transfer them to the head unit via USB, or by downloading your email app (gmail, outlook etc) and emailing the files to yourself.
Any idea where to buy this in Europe?
Sweet wallpaper
Did it come with a plug and play adapter for car specific make?
No, just for ISO connectors. Often you can find a separate adaptor to convert a specific make/model to ISO, which you could then plug this thing into.
I'm West actually!
@@MotoringBoxTV sorry about that. Lol.
Are you still happy with the unit? I'm mostly looking for solid wireless Carplay and Android auto?
Still love it mate - looking to get another one for my other car.
Hey Sean, do you plan on playing around with the OBD function?
Haven't yet, I heard this car (Mitsubishi Magna) may not be fully OBD2 compliant, so the adapters I have may not work.
is it truly not a drain to worry about? not sure if I'm convinced forced sleep drain on battery won't be a problem. shopping for a vehicle that won't be in my garage, no block heater, cold Canadian winters.
Hey mate. What phone do you have? Noticed you’ve got the new version of android Auto and I really want to have a go with it as well
How did you go with wireing harness to fit your car as I got Toyota aurion gsv50 can't seem find right one though atoto
You'll most likely need a primary harness to ISO conversion like the APP0141 here aerpro.com/vehicles/toyota/toyota-aurion-2012-2015#-
Hi Sean thanks didn't know I could use aeropro wireing harness thanks again for the information
G'day Sean, informative video. I've been looking at updating my head unit for a 2006 Ford Falcon BF. Would this head unit fit into an aerpro cradle for this model car?
Should do
hey sean, recently stumbled onto your channel and been enjoying the magna content, recently got myself a tj magna. originally had a verada as my very first car at 18, so things have come full circle now that im 35 haha. after doing some research and watching your video, i decided to give the atoto a6pf a go also. quick question, the headunit has a power antenna lead, just wondering if you gave that a go to solve the antenna always being in its raised position. havnt got around to installing mine as yet, but wondered if you tried wiring that to the factory lead off the magna. i was reading on a page that even when wiring it in, the antenna may stay up for 5mins even when switching off from radio, but the person was referencing an older atoto model and that was a few years ago. so yea, if you gave that a go or had any luck besides wiring in a sperate switch id love to hear your work around? cheers mate and keep up the content
@@pathellak2688 I would say your wiring has got an issue. This will happen if your permanent 12v and accessory wires are the wrong way around.
Oh good point! maybe ill try the other iso b harness.
@@pathellak2688 try, or use a volt meter to see which power wire stays on constant, and which one only comes on with ignition. If they're swapped, the unit receives no power when the car is off... hence the cold boot every time.
Can you link your current camera rather than having to buy theirs?
Only concern is Android 10 no longer get upgrades. And soon apps stops working, because you can not update them.
My go to has always been Sony for head units. My VT has a XAV-1000 which is great but Apple car play only. My VY had a XAV-XA205DB which I've come to find is extremely rare as it had everything
Android Auto, Apple car play, CD, DVD, Bluetooth, digital radio, am, fm, 3 reverse camera inputs and probably many more I've forgotten.
What could be the problem with Android 10 compared to 11 or 12? I only want navigation and Spotify, but still...
1. Car BT detected
2. Hotspot ON
3. Car BT not connected
4. Hotspot OFF
These units are great if your car doesn’t have an integrated ICC or BCM module where all the electrics are controlled via the cars BCM bus.
That's a good tip - I certainly wouldn't be doing this on a car which displayed various functions through the screen.
Still going great! No difference in how it has performed.
Unreal! I'll definitely be picking one up when I can then, thanks heaps mate, all the best!@@MotoringBoxTV
After further research it seems the flagship models are priced the same as most in store units .. even Walmart has cheaper options 🤔
I saw a lot of reviews and you are the only one who connected android auto without purchasing the adapter, how did you do that, is it possible to connect somehow without spending money on the adapter?
I'm not sure what adaptor you mean, but the A6PF doesn't need one (at least in my experience).
Are any of you aware of a atoto to iso wiring harness that is available in Australia?
The unit comes with one, how come you're looking for it separately?
@@MotoringBoxTV thanks mate
where do you recommend for me to install the multimedia in Brisbane? Thanks
I don't really have any recommendations sorry - I would look up car audio visual shops and find one with a good rating.
