Perfect timing! I was planning on tackling this job when I hit 120k in a couple of months. Thank you so much.

I just did this job on my car and I did the exact same technique with the torx bit and 8 mm. Also I found that an 16 mm "S type" wrench was perfect for the stubborn spacer. Also INA states to compress the tensioner 3 times holding it down for 5 seconds each time for optimal life. I wasn't able to replace the idler pulley (black seal) but I remembered from my skateboarding days we use to crack open the seals and squeeze in lube to make the bearings go faster. I put the bearing in my ultrasonic cleaner and squeezed in new grease with a needle and it felt like brand new.

Didn't know about the compressing of the tensioner. I'll keep that in mind. Like you I've been popping the seals and regreasing bearings for years. As long as the bearing pieces are in good condition it will be like new.

I tried replacing the upper roller today. Got the wrong part from Pelican.

Something similar happened to me, they just didn't have the part in stock for me. I instead serviced the part. I cracked open the seal, cleaned the bearing thoroughly in my ultra sonic cleaner, blow dried it with compressed air and squeezed in new grease (redline cv grease) with a needle and it felt brand new.
