I know this is off to a good start, but I cant help but think how well this could have done last year. In my circle, we have cooled on MB. I suspect there are many like us that feel the same.
Just as an FYI, those that want to combine Ragnarok with Pantheon, you’ll need non-transparent sleeves (such as those offered) as the cards have different backs.
Thanks for the overview! I'm really loving skirmish games lately and I'm very eager to try this one. I see Godtear in the background. Have you had a chance to play and if so what do you think about it?
I don’t know man. Wish you could have compared the value of Pantheon incl. SGs to what this will be. The fact that some killer units in Ragnarok are part of the add on packages severely limits what the end result for the core pledge can be. Monolith also said the content for this campaign will be lighter. For 135 you can get Pantheon + Pandora and I don’t think Ragnarok will be able to match that...which super unfortunate...tress or no trees. Perhaps you can give us an update later in the campaign?
Would you consider the Mythic battles Ragnarok anddd the Pantheon God pledge good backs if the only intent was to resell it? Unsure if pantheon still has a market
@@BoardGameCo is that because the Pantheon Gods pledge is more expensive? Because they have them bundled as well for a combined $239. Sorry to bother, You just know your stuff when it comes to this haha. Really appreciate your videos too, you've influenced many of my buys
Wait VAT is included? What if you're from the US and don't have to pay VAT? So we're paying more so that the EU folks don't have to pay so much in VAT?
@@BoardGameCo Wow you really thought of everything! Great video, it helped me understand it and feel less robbed by this kickstarter. I'm also glad you notice the lesser amount of miniatures, most fanboys are losing it over this game and refuse to see any negative. I do understand its been a few years and inflation is real so they have to cut corners some where and the # of miniatures is the best way to do that without raising the price and making everyone mad.
FOr someone who doesnt have Pantheon, I have the feeling that i get the most bang for my buck when getting the "war of the gods" pledge. Any thoughts on this?
I have Super fantasy brawl, and I like it a lot. This seems that but even better and more fun. Units, area control, fast paced game, a lot of variety, can be played with scenarios, 2p, 3p,.. different terrains, and more. I have not played Mythic Battles, but it appears really similar to Super fantasy brawl but more complete in some ways. Why did you not like the older, Pantheon game ?
@@BoardGameCo Hey Alex, once again thanks for your quick reply. Was asking for myself indeed, I am pondering between Ragnarok or Stormsunder. I am a miniature painter also, so that makes it an even harder pick..
Also worth noting that in the pledge manager for Ragnarok they will have all the expansions for Pantheon available. I barely play Pantheon despite enjoying the game, so I also chose not to back Ragnarok. It is tempting because of the mythology, but I have to wonder if I can afford the immense shelf space this game will need if I don't play the one I have. I'm glad they did this one first and not Egypt because when that one launches I doubt I will be at all rational.
Remark for the All-In: The sleeves suck, they are not worth the money. They seem to be the same as with MB:P and after a couple of plays the backside dissolves (at the beginning it was just a little bit, but after it started, it get worse and worse with every shuffle) from the rest of the sleeve (in a destructive way, not in a way where you could "recycle" the rest of the sleeve as clear sleeve). So if you are not interrested with the Art-Book, I recommend not to go all in, but just buy the "boxes".
Help me out here. Do I need this if I own The Edge Dawnfall and I still haven't painted those yet. (Still painting Reichbusters) Please say no.😁 How good is the game with 3 or 4 players, or is it, like The Edge, actually a 2player game?
Hm. I want it. It looks really cool, gameplay is praised and the War of the Gods pledge is the perfect tier between "core" and "all-in". But I really don't need another skirimisher with the ones I already have and Arena: The Contest All-In coming. And some of the sculpts are rather boring. And there will probably be another "War of the Gods" 3 Core boxes + SGs-Pledge when the Egyptian version comes. And I'm more interested in that theme anyways. But will it be more expensive then or will there be savings on shipping and getting a three-pack? So.. No clue what I'll do here 😅 in for War of the Gods at the moment.
Haha! I can see you gushing so much with excitement. The Blood Rage crossover could be third party? Dollar pledged, because like Catacombs & Castles, Heroes of Normandie and SFB added to my skirmish list and I’m wondering how many I’ll really get to play. I literally in the last minutes finalised payment for Ignite. And earlier Blood & Plunder completed. I also started this KickStarter game with Battletech Clan Invasion... Were you also just hawking insurance with Boardgameco for patronage? Lol.
This is very much a case where I wish they had a mini only pledge for painters. I'd love to have some of the gods and monsters, but the actual game side of things would never get played and as such feels like a waste if I were to back it.
@@BoardGameCo Thank you for the response - because honestly - MB:R is a MB:P redux in a cooler theme (vikings) with less content and higher price. Stretch goals are not as significant as everyone expected too. It feels like KoA is advertising this game. Moreover, when you start receiving free pre-prod games you simply can't be entirely unbiased as if you animadvert the product ou get for free you won't get another one. There are so many other better skirmish games available (even KS). You honestly said -you would not back which is basically what means you have your opinion. Have a good day!
I think the Titans in Ragnarok aren't as great value as in the original Pantheon. Ragnarok titans are $20 each. Vs in Pantheon it was 4 for $60 + full campaign booklet. Also the titan sculps don't draw me in as much. All imo ofc
Very detailed "Should you back it". I went for the All-In pledge on Pantheon but this game rarely hits the table. The publisher is smart tho! They change the crystal name, change the dice color, giving new characters, etc to give the audience an illusion that this is a brand new game. You really nailed it!! If they put some sort of building system like building a synagogue or some sort then it will improve the gameplay. Fighting or collecting the tokens can be a bit boring after a while.
A nice bit of Ragnarock at the beginning and the end. The game doesn't seem to be something for me, though, as much as I love Norse stuff, minis, and combat. And that's because it seems to be missing a solo mode.
Mythic Battles: Pantheon had some solo content - some scenarios. I don't know whether this will. That said, I don't think that content should be what makes you choose to back this game, as the strength is in the interaction with other players.
This looks really neat but I literally don't have anyone to play this with so I'm probably a pass. My steady gaming group is only interested in playing Cooperative games; currently still going through Gloomhaven and have several other epic campaign games coming that'll keep us busy. The others I play with, aren't into skirmish style games and tend to prefer lighter cooperative games such as zombicide. For me this game looks like a lot of fun and I'd probably enjoy it but I can't justify the money on a game that'll never see the table.
I think you advice is dead on. I backed Pantheon 1.5 all in and decided I didn't want it after I received it. I sold all the components (I think there were 10+ of them) individually and sold most of them for 3 times the price I paid.
No No.... I must not give into the FOMO, all the mini's want me to get this game, but I know I will go all in and I really need a new car........Nope not going to do it. However when the Egypt one comes around, yeah I probably will give in.
You didn't like Mythic Battles Pantheon and didn't keep it as you mentioned you did, just stick with Super Fantasy Brawl. I would a Conan hero in Mythic Battles. They could do it as an add on.
