- I feel I have been to enough of these UA-cam boxing events that I have a pretty good understanding of what makes one "good". The rescheduled Social Gloves fight "No More Talk" with Austin McBroom vs AnEason Gib was an ill-attended, poorly marketed, mess of an event. Clearly, more talk was needed.

Worked in venues for 8 years- your theory around 5:30 is 98% correct. If they don’t see enough people, esp. over 21+, to meet the bar/food/merch whatever minimum, they have to get them to agree to put the card up. Basically this entire event you described is exactly how things go when a venue has to work with an event that is clueless, unprofessional, lying, stupid, etc. it’s such a struggle to make an event that badly run look good :)

@@carlapaiz1880 their credit card. It’s already on file but they have to enter a new phase of agreement if ticket sales are low. This is common with events that seek out booking, not are sought after.

He should have been promoting the living crap out of this event months ago all the other fighters have absolutely nothing to gain by promoting it they all get paid the same regardless of ticket sales or PPV buys the only 2 people who benefit from it did the least amount possible Gib promoted it more than either of those two did and all his fans are here in the UK and if they'd have had this fight here in the UK it would have sold out instantly and Austin was told that multiple times but didn't listen 🤦♂️

The ironic thing is that Austin did a 'how to be a social media millionaire' thing a while back I seem to recall. I follow another channel that was also talking about the fight. There was a clip in that video where he was talking about how the doctors and nurses at the hospital had the audacity (his word) to ask what happened. He just told them to watch the fight.
Which is so ridiculous bc even if he’s counting on having a large following & thinking that’s marketing enough, the majority of his followers are children & middle aged white women.... they’re not going to his fights.... 🤦🏾♀️

My conspiracy theory is that the ACE family are in DEEP financial issues and are trying hard to get money fast. All of this failed events are cash grabs. I feel bad for the kids, honestly... all that money was made at their expense and their dumb ass parents lost it all in very stupid ways.

I’m sorry it wasn’t ideal but with a 7 year old daughter, I enjoyed how much you spoke about being with your dad. Good or bad it was an experience with your dad that is shareable with us.
Seeing the low quality of their events and lack of marketing, I'd say they probably aren't doing well financially. They've been coasting off their name for a while and as their child fans grow up, their name isn't cutting it anymore, so they're doing these cheap events in hopes that they can squeeze the last bit out of their fans before they're completely irrelevant.

The worst part of the whole thing is that you're right in that they probably moved venues because of bad ticket sales - but is even worse because rather than moving to a smaller venue where they could sell out(shrine auditorium is literally down the street) they instead moved to a BIGGER OUTDOOR VENUE where their lack of ticket sales would LOOK EVEN WORSE.

The guy selling clear bags outside the venue is just the type of entrepreneur we all wish we could be. I hope he gained much success from that considering otherwise it sounds like it wasn't a great event for various reasons.
Edit: I mean I'd pay to see Swell being in a match or a ring girl because that sounds fantastic to me given the other content we get on the channel.
That reminded me when our university put lockers for everyone and one dude came up with the locks the next day and it sold out immediately. I hope he is doing well in his life and prolly in business 😌

For some reason, I've never liked Amanda more than during this video. I've watched quite a few Swell Entertainment videos and I have always liked Amanda, I just genuinely loved the parts with her talking about how she would want to box in one of these. Also, her 5 minute plan of how to promote for her fight was 1000x better than any of these influencers boxes have ever done!
I know it’s expensive. But I really enjoy these field trips to conventions and events. Thanks for going through all of this foolishness.

Honesty, your suggestions regarding the promotion and potential perks related to ticket sales and venue management are insanely poignant and I feel like you'd do extremely well as a social media publicist.
I am always so awed by the details you pick up around you during events and use them to add more info. So cool.
Pretty fascinating to see how few people attended this event. Creator Clash was amazing because of various reasons, with one being a small venue that they sold out. I think it's so dumb to hold an outdoor event at a massive venue and only utilize a portion of it. I'd love to see the financials of fights like this because venue rent, liability insurance, event insurance, staff security, etc. would be MASSIVE.
And they actually promoted it, treated the fighters justly and i think all of them posted videos about the match and their trainings thus gain more audience.

It’s shocking to me how literally almost nobody was there. In Poland we have two mma/boxing/k1 events for influencers: Fame MMA and High League and I think every event is sold out at least weak before fights

You are so right about going the distance in a fight. I'm an amateur fighter (muay thai). I can spar 10 to 15 rounds on a training day before I'm exhausted. In a fight, I'm the same level of exhausted by round 2 (of 3). It's a totally different experience. If you've never gone the full distance of a fight, you're going to be tired when someone drags you into deep water. You have to force yourself to push beyond your limits in training, or you'll never make it. I watched a guy lose a championship fight that he was winning because he was so tired after round 2, he just couldn't go on. You also have a point about training in the heat. I trained in Thailand for about 5 months earlier this year, and the heat absolutely sapped all the energy from me for the first few weeks until I adjusted.
