I live near a major highway in Canada, we see this all the time with tourists not knowing how to drive in the winter with snow and ice. Glad you're okay!

Nice to see you back. So glad you walked away from that. I’m sure being from Texas you may have lost your snow shoes. My best advice to you find an empty snowed in parking lot and practice. It’s how I’ve honed in my slippery driving skills. I drive a big ol 96 suburban and when it snows I’ll practice my winter driving. You will be surprised how much it helps.

Wondered how it was going. Glad to see you are safe. Thanks for the update. I slid sideways on a lightly snow covered freeway median in the winter for over 300 ft when a freak hail storm suddenly dropped marble size pellets on the freeway as I was rounding a curve at 55mph. I thought that's it I'm a goner. But luckily or by devine intervention my suv stayed upright. So I know the feeling. I just relaxed my grip on the wheel and let it slide.
2:44 it wasn’t the Alcohol, but it was the Ice. Which just goes to prove, never allow them to put Ice in your Glass

I'm glad you were in a rental car and not your own car. I never buy the car rental insurance except 1 time. I was getting married and my youngest brother gave me a wedding present. Within 1 minute my oldest brother dropped it over the 2nd floor railing into the parking lot. I get to the car rental place and I figure things aren't going too well so I take out the optional car rental insurance. It was a so called luxury car, a Lincoln Towncar or whatever. Drove the car like 10 miles to the church and back and it something like 8 gallons to fill up just before returning it. When I returned it an employee runs in saying "You're lucky you took out the insurance because there is damage to it." When I first rented it I don't think they even looked at it but when I returned it they must of gone over it with a fine tooth comb and are extra picky. I didn't hit anything with it or did I drive that far to use all of that gas. That really pissed me off but then I took out the extra car insurance.

Glad you're ok Ron. Welcome back to Sask. With that said remember rental vehicles only come with all season tires which are useless here in Canada in winter. You have to have winter tires if you're a driver from the states with little winter driving experience. Just how it is bud! That cop shouldn't have been breathalyzing you tho. Unless now it's protocol for all accidents? I've never had that done for well my one single accident I've had in my life lol.

Glad you made it out in one piece and without injuries! But look at 5:44 - there‘s your reason for why you had an accident that could have killed you in the cold! No winter tires! The tires are smooth as silk - typical summer tires, that don‘t offer any grip during icy or snowy road conditions. Don‘t you ever use that during winter times. Talk about prepping, man?! 😎
