Psalms 1 is a reminder to believers about how to make choices and to be anchored in Jesus, Who is the way, the truth, and the life. It also clearly shows the path of destruction for wrong choices. It reminds us to stay connected to God and to choose wisely who we hang out with. Our choices connect us to people.
We are not to follow the advice of the wicked or take the path of sinners, or join a group of mockers. In other words we shouldn’t be seeking advice from unbelievers, do what’s popular in the world when it conflicts with the Word, or join in, becoming connected with, those destroying people with their mouths. Instead, our delight is the Lord’s instruction. This is about spending time in God’s Presence and in His Word, doing what Joshua 1:8 tells us:
"This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success." (Joshua 1:8 AMP)
When we do this we become anchored in Jesus, nourished by Him and bear fruit. We can be assured of our eternity, without fear of judgment. The Lord watches over the righteous while the way of the wicked leads to ruin.
    Be Encouraged!

To inherit the gift of eternal life, we must receive the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Savior from sin. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him. After one receives Jesus as Savior, one still needs to make Him Lord over their life. This psalm (Psalm 1) reminds us that our daily decisions are important in choosing Jesus as Lord. If we want Jesus as Lord, we’re going to choose to listen to God’s Word (reading it, meditating on it, and following it) and seek advice from Him in prayer. We’re going to spend more time with other believers than we do with those who have yet to say ‘yes’ to Jesus. We will find that our life will begin to bear fruit for the Kingdom, and, progressively, we will prosper (which means much more than financial prospering). Christians can certainly make wrong choices following their conversion experience, but it doesn’t have to be that way, nor does it have to stay that way. Thanks for the teaching, Dr. G.
