Many years ago I told of the story for a personal challenge. I took one Kata action ( the chambered hands on one side of the body) and taught different applications in each country visited. I came up with over 160... for the one move. Those that limited themselves to only what they were told or a single explanation, miss the idea of Kata. Once you are shown a Kata, it is yours to explore and make your own... that was the tradition but now long lost.
Yes of course they are, what you have discounted with the theatrics remark however is that we are activating the nerves... with feelings like striking a funny bone (Nerve) at times. When people work chokes they do not pinch the nerve acutely to cause this so they will not experience what these folks did.

Thanks, it is just a bit of the puzzle of Kata sir.
Evan Pantazi yes indeed
Fantastic applications. If I meditate on any move from any form the applications begin to pile up.

When a Sensai can make it look so effortless and easy,
then you can be sure: He knows his stuff...
Or at least practiced the heck out of it.
.... an hour a day, keeps boredom away.
Some real theatrics in these videos, but the techniques such as squeezing/pressing on the carotid are real.
