It’s an awesome bike! Has tons of power and is light enough for me to toss around (I only weigh 145 pounds) They are expensive to fix though, something to keep in mind 👌🏼
These came on my T7 and I love them. I was shocked how good they are in almost all conditions. I was curious if anyone was running them on a supermoto. Did a search found this video. Good stuff man 👍.
INSANE !!!! Well my question WAS going to be if a SM is good enough for our local terrain, but with the right tires, you made it obvious. Getting one for sure now. Lytle Creek will soon live in fear!
Thanks Ivan! If it has Supermoto tires yes. I believe they might have a front tire for the enduro size as well. Check out Pirelli site and check the size you need though.
Impressive performance from that rear tire man! I did the extended 7,350 mile TAT in 2015 on my 690 SMCR wearing TCK 80's which did it fine although in deep sand I wished I was riding a 21 inch front instead of a 17! Remarkably good roadholding too even when cranked over but not as good as that STR I am sure.
was looking at so many tires for my drz400sm but none have both tires in the right sizes except these. looks like ill be buying some soon after i practice burnouts with my rear tire since it already has a flat middle band and has been patched.
I have a 450f supermoto and I want to go a little more off-road than on on road in a desert environment what would you say would be a good tire for that? Do you think I should go with this tyre in the video?
Are you still riding the 701? Since this video, have you tried the Tractionator GPS? I find it has great grip off and on road. The front tire not so much, but the rear is pretty stellar. Cheers!
My local motorcycle shop warned me not to mount this tire on my 701 SM because it’s a 150 instead of a 160 for the rear. They said it wouldn’t roll as easily. What are your thoughts on this? For the record I am not as skilled a rider as you appear to be. Thanks for any insight on this.
Thanks for the video. Would you happen to know how these stack up against the Pirelli MT 60 RS? Pirelli designed that one (I think earlier) as a supermoto specific tyre. I'm not sure how those stack up against this newer (allroad?) tyre. Also, why did you fit an 150 instead of an 160? Doesn't your 701 have a 5 inch rear? I'm driving a Husqvarna 510 SMR (about 120kg wet + 80kg rider) and I'm doing 57% dry road, 8% wet road, 25% dry offroad (gravel etc) and 10% soft offroad (sand). I was thinking to go with a K73 front (kinda want a safe in every condition tyre in the front, especially in the wet and dry, and don't care about wear too much) and either of these Pirellis in the rear (Just decent performance and wear in the dry, and I want to by able to get good grip offroad). Thanks in advance!
No worries brotha! As far as the MT60RS, I don’t have any experience with them. I can say both the k73 and STR are great tires for dual purpose. The STRs have better grip on street and dirt than the k73. They also last longer. As far as how well they work in wet conditions, I think they are both about the same. I went with 150 because it was cheaper 😂. I would like to try other sizes in the future, but I’m way too happy with how the STR performs.
@@HDSupermoto Thanks a lot for your answer. Sticking a 150 on a 5 incher might not be a good idea if you like to get the pegs down to the tarmac. You'll likely run out of rubber when getting some low angles. I still have a 4.25 incher atm but Im looking for a 5.00. What seems so vague is also the weight ratings for these tires. I now found they initially designed the 170/60 tyre for the Ducati Scrambler, which weights 201kg wet. The 701 weights something like 145kg wet I think. What I fear is I end up with I tyre not designed for a bike as light as mine, thus not maintaining it's heat well (especially here in a dry Finnish climate) and not having enough flex. Maybe I should in that case stick with a 150 on my 4.25, or go with a 160 MT 60 RS
I honestly have no issues going in the canyons. I’m sure for you bike it might be too much of a tire. I would like something that is smaller, but that’s the smallest they had for at 17”. Let me know how you like the MT
nice video nice tyre i have them on my yamaha xtx660 and has an amazing grip in the street, even better than some street tyres but i have a question, what was the top speed you did on them in the street? these tyres are rated for max speed of 300kmh, i can do 130kmh and then the front of the bike starts shaking and going towards a tank slapper..., i ve checked and adjusted my suspensions and everything else seems to be fine, still the bike starts shaking like crazy on the high way at 130-140 so i suppose its because its an on offf tyre, also tried different air pressures, still the same.
Thanks!! They are great tires, but like you said it does wobble around 100mph. I was not able to find a solution neither. Maybe they are not made for going fast?! 🤷🏻♂️
@HDSupermoto i was able to do 100mph (160kmh) when my friend was on the rear seat, thats why i thought it had something to do with preload on the rear shock but ive tried all combinations and when its just me it still does it, these tyres have the rating Y on the side which means they can do 300kmh ( you can find the tyre speed chart on the internet).
If you know where B and B cycles are, where are the best dirt trails, without much traffic. And does that Pirelli tire really make the 701 SM a great ball day off roader
