Thank you 😊
Hello, it's the first I've ever seen someone do that, or even hear about it, but sure looks yummy, would love to try one day!
It’s a delightful treat. Try it for sure. 😊
The other thing I noticed , is that slowly, you are getting into the rythm of that beautiful land! Take care and stay strong!
We are taking things gently at the rhythm of the land as you say. It makes life better. Thank you 😊
@@NearbyVeggies Thank you for answering! Take care!
It looks like a long process, but yummy!
It is! 😊
LOL, really LOL at the wonderfully subtle way you messaged like and subscribe. lovely.
Thank you. Good to know you noticed 😉
Yes this is made in a town called Farsala in greece so its called Halva Farsalon but they add suger and it turns brown like fudge but the texture of a solid jelly. We just go and buy it from the cake shop it is on a rope with walnuts or a tray without walnuts. We love it, its amazing how different countries have the same delicacies
Awesome. Thank you 😊

Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Brilliant… it looks so simple yet it seems to be so yum👏👏👏
Simple yet slow 😊
Oof... you guys know how to treat yourselves. It was all i could do not to bite the screen. Delicious. Looking forward to seeing the plans for the house. I bet you're quite keen to get on with it all.
All the best.
Addictive once you start which is why I only put one on the table. 🤗
Ola.
I’m from Madeira and my wife is originally from Syria. She said this sweet delicacy Is common in the souk markets of Damascus and Aleppo. We both Love your videos.
Olá. Thanks for sharing that. Delighted your wife recognised it from her homeland 😊
What a great thing to make, and the patience required to prep the walnuts etc. I’m going to roast some of my grapes tomorrow & eat them with goats cheese.
That’s a delicious 😋 idea.
Hi Dan and Meraid, thank you for another wonderful video. Love the story and the treat looks delicious. Can’t wait to see the plans for your home! Stay well.
Thank you and we look forward to sharing the plans with you. 😊
That treat looks delicious. I'll have to try and locate some in a Turkish shop when I'm next in the big city.
It’s lovely. Good luck in your quest 😊

How peaceful life over there, I'm looking forward to migrate ❤❤❤ would love to visit you guys, God bless!
We love it here. Thank you for sharing your enjoyment.
Very excited to see the plans. Excellent treat and the coffee made me swoon. I loved the pop of color from th red socks.
Dan loves his red socks. He lost all his luggage on a trip a little while ago and the red socks were the only ones he could find that were big enough. 😊
Never seen anything like this before but it looks delicious! Intrigued to try to make it ourselves. Thanks so much for sharing and can’t wait to see your plans in your next video. Get well soon, Meraid!
Thank you. Still unable to talk properly but improving. 😊
Eline emeğine sağlık bu güzel vlog ve video için kolay gelsin hayırlı işler 👍👍👍👍
Thank you 😊
Wonderful story about the walnut sausage: The whole post was interesting. I have to say I'm lusting after your tea kettle: it's so classic!
We have the kettle for years. You can hear the whistle when we’re out on the land. 👍
Looks delicious 🍇 😋👍
So good 😊
I know it as Sucuk, Turkish for sausage, home made or sold in all Turkish cultures. I didn’t know it was Georgian in origin! It will last, if you can leave it alone, for ages! I haven't seen it in London for many years. Well done for making it! You two are so adventurous. 🥰 By the way, perfect viewing for a Saturday morning after waking up grumpy. 😋 😅
Great to know the Turkish word for it too. Hope you are feeling full of joy now for the rest of your day. 🤗
Нет, это не суджук. Суджук - это очень сухая колбаса, не круглая , а квадратная ( приблизительно).
Прессованая.
What a divine place to eat exotic candy in the coolness. I am so excited to see your designs for your place. Your life seems heavenly.
The veranda is a beautiful place to sit for sure. 😊
I'm jealous. @@NearbyVeggies
You just never seem to amaze me with your videos! Well done.
Wow, thank you!
Those looked delicious! You wrapped them so well. I could see these as a present. A lovely homemade treat. The harvesting music was perfect!
Thanks so much, Kathleen 😊
You make such wonderful foods it is a good thing you do so much physical work. Of course, the food fuels your hard work.
I can barely wait ‘til next time.
We do enjoy food (growing and eating).
Hope you enjoy the next video too.
What a wonderful, mouthwatering video today! I love how you showed us how you made your own churchkhela! I don't know if I can source it here in Switzerland, but I am going to ask in turkish shops for it!
Thank you so much. Remember it’s a Georgian speciality but Dan’s Turkish colleagues knew about it. If you do find it please let us know if you enjoyed it. 🤗
Wow! Looks lovely :) Thankyou for sharing the story and recipe with us!
Thanks for watching and enjoying 😊
Wow 🤩 who would have guessed? I tried twice 😂
Those Georgian Snickers look delicious! I shall try making them, and thank you for showing us the process and recipe.
Thanks for sharing your story of how you came to learn about this treat.
What line of work are you in or were in?
Take care.
🌷Sam
Dan was and still is working in the marine industry. Thank you for your guesses and let us know if you make it 😊
Team work as always, great to see you both enjoying the fruits and nuts of your labour.
You really like to tease us 😅 can't wait to see the house plans 😊. Hope your voice improves, mine hasn't been right since I got Covid last year. Blessings 🙌 ❤
Voice is still not working properly but I’m almost back in tip top form.
Looking forward to seeing the house plans. The churchkhela looks very interesting. I have never heard of it being from USA
I don't know how I found your channel now but it's quickly become my favourite. So interesting seeing what you make from the different produce you grow.
Thanks so much 😊
Looks easy to cook and delicious, but what about the string? Lol...
Ty for sharing...The land is looking mighty fine....hard work and enjoy your videos ❤❤❤❤❤❤
The string slips out easily. 😊
Oh wow yummie they look delicious - exciting can’t wait to see hear your plans 🌺🤸♂️
Thank you so much 🤗
Your churchkela looks devine. What an amazing thing to make from your grapes and walnuts 🤤.
It really is. Thank you 😊
Love how you share your recipes and their stories. Looking forward to the plans . The weather is gorgeous at the moment ❤❤❤
Thanks so much 😊
The flavour combination sounds great, what varieties of grapes did you use? I noticed they're white but didn't catch the variety. So simple and without using honey or sugar.
The house is huge, so it's definitely going to take quite a while to finish.
We have no idea what variety these grapes are. They’re old. It doesn’t matter really, you can use red or white as long as they are sweet. 👍
It was great to see you make the nice candy dessert. Do you have a recipe for it? It must be great to make for Christmas. I have grapes in a greenhouse. Eaten up this year unfortunately, but for next year maybe this can be made. Thanks for the nice videos. Nice to see that some well-grown adults can manage such an upheaval in lifestyle. Looking forward to the continuation. Greetings from Molde, Norway
Grapes we used 2 litres of juice some flour and the nuts. Not an exact recipe. Thank you 😊
What are the things you strung on the thread?
@tarynkriebel319 Walnuts 👍
@@NearbyVeggies Wheat flour?
Yes.
what a wonderful treat. I am inspired. You will need a lot of willpower to keep one for 6 months :) Must be nice to have some rain after all the heat. very excited to see your plans. So nice to see it all coming together. I hope your voice recovers soon Meraid.
Thanks Lynne, you’re probably right about the willpower 🤣
Voice is improving 👍

Such a lovely talented hard working couple
Thank you 😊
Thanks for sharing another video. This was interesting. The Georgian Snickers was interesting . Hope you get your voice back soon and get well. Am quite eager to hear and see ur restauration / rebuilding plans.
Voice is still sketchy but getting better. 👍
Oh gosh! Those delicious walnuts (farsala!!) I admire your cooking skills and your hard work on your Portuguese homestead. I am now retired and was so excited to move from USA to Portugal; however, I have mixed feelings and I am afraid I might feel homesick - and then what? I have felt homesick in the past - I am confused...
You have a big decision to make and only you have the answer. Good luck 👍
Delighted you enjoyed it. Really appreciate your encouragement 😊
Well that looked absolutely gorgeous, as a very long time vegan usually I'm disappointed with recipes shared or animals being kept just to be eaten on channels I follow on UA-cam (then unsubscribe when that's made clear) but this time you've made my day. Bet it's hard not to eat the lot in one go!!
Delighted you enjoyed it 😊
Très belle vidéo !! Merci.
Hâte de voir vos plans !!🐝🪲
Merci 😊
Fantastic video
Thanks! 😃
What a nice channel you have! Guess it must have been 10 long days for you to taste those treats. Looking forward to the plans for the house!
Thanks so much! 😊 Waiting is something we’re good at so 10 days wasn’t too long. I made passion fruit cake to enjoy in the time.
Ahahaha how are u so creative with Chaikovsky;) can I visit your farm?)
At the moment we only have family and close friends. 😊
Churchhella are Armenian and Georgian origin, great u know this
Thank you 😊
HAHAHAH that music in the beginning! Great!
Thank you 😊
Looks amazing and delicious, something new to look up recipes for. Does it have to be sweet green grapes or do you think you could make with Concord grapes, the ones they use to make jelly out of here in the States?
It can be any grape as long as they’re ripe they’re probably sweet enough. Our grapes are wine grapes.
чурчхелу готовят на Кавказе, у нас то же продают на рынке (побережье Черного моря)
Do you like churchkhela?
yummy. It looks delicious.
It is delicious 😋
We have never of churchkhela!? Is it crunchy or toffee-like? So enjoyed the video, thank you!
It’s crunchy because of the nuts but the grape part is chewy but not like toffee. More like a chewy fruit gum but not as chewy. It melts in the mouth.
When I separated juice from grapes skin, it makes juice of no grapes taste at all) it was just sweet. all taste is in the skin
Our juice was full of flavour.
Walnuts?
Yes 🙌
Я живу в Северной Осетии (это граница России и Грузии) и у нас в каждом магазине продаётся чурчхелла и она из красного винограда. Очень её люблю но сама не готовила.
When Dan brought some home from his travels, he had one made from red grapes 🍇 and green grapes. Hopefully you’ll make it yourself one day 👍
🌟👏👍🍀💐
Thank you 😊
When are you going to start building your new house ??
Soon 😊
I like your gas stove. Can you please tell me what make it is?
It’s a type of stove that is available everywhere here. No particular Brand, just simple, powerful and robust. We absolutely love it.
@@NearbyVeggies Thanks for the information. I live in Austria and most of the gas stoves here are pretty flimsy. I will have to keep on hunting.
@barbarasattler9138 I forgot to mention that it cost around 75 euros
ALL YOU NEED NOW IS A COW TO MILK!
A cow isn’t in our plans.
Why are you stringing walnuts.
Keep watching 😊
bugs?
What is the question?
❤
Thank you.

Thank you 😊
