Is this Memorial Day weekend in September? I need to go to Valdez haven't been back since 2000, one year I'll go again ,,,,,, but I'm going to klutina next week for reds
The first campground was Allison Point at $15 per night. The other one is Eagles Rest. It has a full RV hook up for $70 per night. Both I would definitely recommend.
@@clbowler2001 July is too early to cast for silvers from shore in Valdez and probably most places. From a boat/charter, you can find the silvers in july (and maybe only way out in the 3-fish limit area), but the pinks will be in the port for you to catch...as many as you want, all day long. Limit is still 6 but it's not uncommon for them to double it 12 if it's a huge return. If your dates are set, maybe run down to Kenai for kings and reds. The earliest i can recall seeing a silver in Valdez caught from shore in recent years is the first week of Aug. It inches forward with each run. My first moment of excitment for Allison point is when the first silver is pulled out of the raceway at the hatchery.

Just wanna get a feel so I don’t get my hopes up too high. Also would really help me pack the right gear. I’m mainly a spear fisher with 2 seasons of salmon fishing here in Oregon. Any help is much appreciated!

too bad about missing the weigh in for the daily silver. it would have taken it. The daily prizes are pretty good, they'd cover the cost of all your derby tickets and more..

This was actually around Labor day weekend last year. Started fishing 4 September and left that Monday.

One more question, were your waders insulated and what brand do you recommend?
They weren't insulated but had some thick wool socks underneath. Got the TideWe brand from Amazon. Pretty thin but does the job!
What did you use for gear fishing silvers? Rod, reels, lines hooks? Curious because we're going in July. Thanks for any help
Primarily used an 8' Okuma, medium and saltwater Penn reel. Used Blue Fox spinners #5 if we weren't snagging.
