- Since this was the first delivery of our cat, she did not know what to do with the kittens or she has not yet developed maternal instinct. So we had to feed the kittens a special mixture for newborn kittens and monitor their hygiene. After the kitten drinks milk from a bottle, we massage her lower abdomen with a wet warm sponge so that she will urinate. After this kind of grooming, the kittens stop meowing loudly and fall asleep peacefully.

It is extremely dangerous to feed little kittens when they are on their backs. They can easily aspirate milk into their lungs and catch pneumonia or drown. Keep them on their stomachs, slightly elevated and feed away. Rolling a small towel up and letting them rest on that for support works well.

It's best to NOT put them on their back while feeding them. They could aspirate the formula very easily, which could lead to pneumonia or worse.
They will pee easier if you hold them belly down, naturally.

This ridiculous homemade bottle comes with a special formula for newborn kittens.
