Croeso i Gymru: Welsh words that look like English words

  • If you're an English speaker, these Welsh words may take you by surprise. A lot of our students are not from Wales, so we wanted to do something fun to promote the Welsh Language and culture to them. Say Shwmae to 'Croeso i Gymru'. Our video series on various topics to do with the academic year, University life and of course Welsh culture. Each video has 5 new Welsh words for you to learn.     Toes may well come from dough as part of the chain shift from Grimm's Law. The "gh" would have originally been pronounced
