Not enough is known about this lady who was a natural blues singer and pioneer in waking the Uk up to this genre. Her courageous participation in black civil rights at a time when it was unthinkable to refuse segregation , meant she was a very unique and special woman indeed. I have found a new icon ,
We have a fantastic vinyl album of Chris with Ottilie, signed by Chris, in the exhibition - see britishbluesexhibition.wordpress.com/2016/12/16/exhibition-display-at-cranleigh-and-working-with-ukblues-and-british-blues-archive/#jp-carousel-752
This is wonderful. Thanks for posting...By the way I think that might be John Slaughter on guitar.I saw the Barber band at the Osterley Jazz club and he impressed me mightily.
Chris Barber tells a wonderful story about John, can't recall if it is in here, but a great interview and Chris plays the trombone he presented to the British Blues Exhibition www.mixcloud.com/Meerkatcast/an-hour-with-chris-barber-at-86/

Ms Patterson was a pioneer, bringing a style of r&b to Great Britain. She should be forever honored for that.
Now that we are all now reminded of the great Otis Patterson please pass this around❤🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Ottilie
WOW Its great to hear Ottilie talking she was amazing
She was the best
Lovely to hear both of them speaking, such brilliant speaking voices, and Ottilie's blues singing is sublime!
I found here 20 years ago in duet with Louis Jordan “It ain’t nobodies business”. An old Bessie Smith’s song
Saw her on the Richmond Jaz Festival early sixties. She was great. So sadly missed. ❤
Love this lady. I have a number by her singing with episode 6. Can't find out much about them. Anyway this is superb 😎
WOW - again! What a find, an actual interview with Ottilie. Also, a number I had not heard her sing. Thanks for posting this
