Ek Handi Daal Bhaat aur Daal Ka Khatta Paani | Gujrati Style Daal ki Biryani - Maa Kitchen Korner

Ingredients:
1 cup toor daal, boiled with 1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and 4 cups of water
3 tbsp oil
1 potato, diced and mixed with salt and food color
2 medium onions, sliced
2-3 bay leaves
1 tsp cumin seeds
3 cloves
4-5 black peppercorns
1 star anise
2 small cinnamon sticks
1 black cardamom
3 green cardamoms
1 green chilli
1 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp green chilli paste
2 small tomatoes, chopped
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp garam masala powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 cup water
Fresh coriander leaves
2 cups rice, boiled
Garnishing for rice:
A pinch of food color
Fried onions
Fresh coriander leaves
Tarka for rice:
2 tbsp oil
2 green chillies
3 bay leaves
1 tsp cumin seeds
Masala for khatti daal:
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/4 tsp coriander powder
1/4 tsp cumin powder
1 tbsp tamarind
Fresh coriander leaves
Tarka for khatti daal:
2 tbsp oil
Some curry leaves
1/4 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
1 dried red chilli

Ye dish hamaray haan dal chawal khatta kehlati hai ....i have been viewing many of these and yours seem to be the original one.... kyunke dal he ko mash kr ke khatta banaya jata hai...i have never cooked any but going to try this one ...in shaa Allah.... recipe ka shukria....
