A Free Alternative To Synplant2's Genopatch Already??

- Edit:
I made a follow up video in which I throw some of these samples into Genopatch to compare the software and to concretize my perspective on the issue:
• micromusic followup: s...
Also there was an editing error where i talked about a bug where it doesn't produce enough presets. it was from a part of the recording i removed. not sure if there is a bug.

Additional considerations:
Genopatch is part of Synplant2, so it can run its AI-based algorithm through multiple generations to maximize the similiarity between the patch and the imported sample. Micromusic can't do that, it can't even compare the output volume between the sample and its patch, because it does not know about the synth itself. If it was reimplemented as a host for Vital it might have a chance in succeeding in the attempt to replicate the Xenopatch feature. However I don't feel like Vital is a great synth for this kinda feature because its modular system requires knowing how to connect modulators with parameters in a way that accomplishes certain musical functions, like LFO + Fine Pitch = Vibrato. Synplant2 doesn't have this problem. All of its plugin parameters are already sort of macro controls on an underlying synth, making it easier for the AI to make decisions.

I used the initial release version of this software, but in this comment section I was told to try to hotfix 1.1 as well, since it solved some samplerate-problems or so. The results seemed better indeed, but unfortunately it's still quite far from the sounds I input, which is why I decided against making another video. My point still stands: Cool idea, execution can be improved.
Very cool stuff 👌production value through the roof!
Synplant is so amazing for perc noises. Just wish it wasn't so expensive
True. Free legacy of version 1 would be ideal.
i saw this recently and the idea is really cool but i think in order to train it effectively they limited it to only a selection of parameters in vital. it seems it's mostly meant to reproduce simple synth sounds which you can then tweak to get the sound you want. not sure if i'll be using it at this point. P.S. cool intro!
yeah i think i'll also just stick to synplant for this kinda workflow
loving the intro
Cool intro with Powerpuff girls vibe!
thx :) i wanna make some more of those about various themes
I think this is before the sample rate fix (hotpatch)!
i see. that might explain why it was so noisy. then i should give it another chance
@@Beatsbasteln yeah, micromusic before the hotfix would just max out whitenoise + distortion if you had a sample that wasn't 16bit 41.1khz
@@earthlin9816 ok i'll check out the new version. if it is substantially better i have to make a new video
nice your sounds man and process lol
you get noise because you need to convert the WAV to high quality wav. I do it with audio convertor plus and its working. its not supposed to work with pitched sounds like drums etc. its mostly for polyphonic edm type sounds.
wtf is a high quality wav? I run Bitwig at 44.1khz/32bit
@@Beatsbasteln I dont know thats what the creator of this software wrote in the comments of his video. what Im doing its exporting a wav file, then convert it to wav with a software and then its working without noise. weird
I think instead of a single note of a sound, you should try using the full bassline from the beat. In the video of MicroMusic he used longer waveforms with full melodies etc, whereas you only used one note of the sound.
ok, i'll give that a try. however i gotta say i don't get why any kind of algorithm would have an easier time when you feed it more "distractions"
@@Beatsbasteln Yeah I know how it feels, but the algo might've been taught that way. There are algos that let you extract audio "tracks" from songs, like vocals, so it might not be that hard after all.
nice intro
thancc
I paused the video and rewound it to see which version you chose, and it looks like you chose alpha instead of beta, which may be why you may have not been able to choose the presets in the way you said they could in the other video. It may have also been why you may have been less than happy with its execution in general. (Maybe you mention that somewhere later in your video though.)
i made this video before the developer released the fix. however when i went back to try again with the new version nothing seemed to have improved. i think i really wasn't experiencing a bug but just chose sounds the software can't come close to replicate. maybe i was just unlucky, but that's just how it is now
Now let me think about this for a second Synplant (with it's two oscillator synth engine that cost almost two hundred bucks) or Vital (with it's three Wavetable oscillator, multiple LFO's, mod matrix) and Micro Music for a total of ZERO BUCKS.
Actually a second of thought isn't required it's a no brainer. The power of Vital with Micro Music WINS.
it's actually pretty difficult. if you paid attention to the video you must have noticed a lot of those micro music sounds really aren't very good (also in the hotfix version, I tried). I made a followup video (link in description) where I also processed the same samples with synplant genopatch with much more success. So this is in fact a decision with a big compromise between money and quality.
Whoa, I thought that was smoke coming out of your headphones! 04:57
lmao, cleo is a cloudy little cat :3
Is there a Mac version?
idk
where you from? deutsch?
joa
Does it have any viruses? I don't want to loose my pc :/
i don't know about a virus
@@Beatsbasteln lets hope it stays that way 😰
@@ahny3814 why do you say that? did anyone say it has a virus?
@@Beatsbasteln nah im just skeptical is all im saying
But is the free one safe to use
safe to use, sure. but also quite gimmicky. i don't see myself using it. however it's a nice proof-of-concept piece of work, because it shows that something like genopatch could be made for all plugins
Nah, genopatch is more advanced and gives better results. Cool concept though.
I actually prefer when it’s not a 1:1 recreation. Happy accidents.
yeah but it should at least get close in some sense
killer animations mate, energy's going through the roof. those patches are not very impressive i must say but your original beat slaps
It behaves like eine alte Oma 😉😹
its really bad actually.
Synplant is wayyy better and I've used both
It's really not as impressive as Synplant unfortunately :( Thanks for the video though
I was informed a new update vastly improved the results, which I haven't checked out yet. So maybe this video isn't as representative as it was anymore
Synplant is way overpriced
nah, synplant is fine :) this software is just not on the same level (yet)
