" make space for that love to happen" letting go of the past, letting go of the ex, letting go of the hurt to make space for the love that you want.

Haha 😂 I think he just wanted to make the type of relationship clear rather than say something ambiguous like “be together or “go out” or whateva. You gotta know what type of relationship you want and find someone with the same wants and then MAYBE it’ll workout 😂

I love the fact that these couples are actually married and not just “shacking up”. Marriage is commitment whereas living together when single is avoidance of commitment.

Devale: "You don't know if the person you're with is worth your monogamy - You have to learn someone!"
Me: Factz! I can't tell you how true this is! Because what I've learnt is, Love is about what you know about that other person, and if that other person is onto something opposite of monogamy, friendship and partnership, then that person just isn't the right marriage partner for you - despite that knowing that you had.

These storeies are cute & inspirational, but please give me examples of couples that have stood the test of T-I-M-E!... 30,40,50,60 years! THATS REAL LOVE! We need to know what it takes to live a LIFETIME together, like our Grandparents. ❤️

    • @Jiron127
      @Jiron127 4 роки тому +19

I understand your perspective. But the eras were drastically different. Our grandparents and beyond stayed together so long out of necessity. Today is different considering women not being tool's. But about equal with men.

the first couple that spoke sitting to the left was on point, on point, and on point. black women are forced to be monogamous, even when we are not ready. Also, its true women need to be absolutely clear on what they want out of the relationship. and men need to be honest too. some men say yeah i want a relationship just to get the draws.

This is very interesting bc i believe that people can be at different tracks in their life. For instance strangers can meet & pair up and make commitment a thing. Whereas a different set of strangers can meet one party looking for a relationship while the other person only wants to meet the stranger again as a friend no sex and no expectation of dating. I guess what I'm trying to say is that a person's private or personal desires can affect their approach and expectations which may not align with the interests or the intentions of the other person - so yeah Black Friendships

I would love to know how they deal with their significant others shortcomings. I don't think that you can love everything about a person before and in the marriage. There's things that you like "_OH NO! "So how they decide to love someone despite their flaws before and in the union. Do they make a list pros and cons, more pros so i'll go with it. May be you try to help your partner to improve the things you don't like then he can be more your type..(Sorry I don't know if y'all understand me, english is not my first langage)

@N So. Ive been married 4 9 yrs, not long. It has been a STRUGGLE! But n my opinion: 1. Dont act off emotion ie dont speak on it immediately (unless u can do it nicely!) 2. Look at ur own discrepancies/ acknowledge ur not perfect 3. Do the pros/cons list, separately. When time is right, discuss, if it got left, break, 4. Give them time while gently reminding along the way!
      Good luck!

first you have to figure out for yourself what your deal breakers are, if the other person's shortcomings, as you mentioned, are not deal breakers then you can learn to live with them. but never try to change someone or expect them to change, you have to love and be in a relationship for who they are in the present, if not that will only lead to resentment and frustration. i would suggest looking up the gottman method, esther perel and jillian turecki.

Until this show, I didn't know there were more than 5 black couples that had genuine love (respect, etc.) for each other. The complete opposite dominates from what I've witnessed... And quite frankly, I'm losing the 1% hope left for these men. It's sickening out here.

Don't let yourself/mind get stuck there.. start looking at things from the outside in, in an empathetic way. People are complicated and everyone's trying to figure life out. There's an upside and downside to being human/to human nature, just focusing on the ugly distorts your outlook. When we think of our own lives and experiences, and the lives and experiences of the people we know intimately, it allows you to understand what the rest of the world must be going through also. There are so, so many people in the world, its hard for me to believe a good number of us are not worthy and not striving to be our best selves. It seems like when we focus on what mainstream promotes, and we focus on the "craziness" we see on social media, it distorts our real life understanding of what it is to be human. Think of what you value in life, think of the character and life you want to live, set your goals, and focus on all of those things. When you meet people, know what you're looking for and what you value, so that when you see the opposite of it, you know not to engage. We're not seeing the person in people anymore.. even if you meet someone who is the opposite of what you value, they're still a person whose at a certain place in their walk.. they're not THAT forever, unless they choose to be.

I don't like the idea of love based on skin colour. Love a person because of their integrity and character which gives more dating options and black women should seriously consider this, since the in group relationships don't work for them , they usually do all the work bread winner , wife and mother that's why focusing on character traits and values is what guarantees a better partner ,a man who can support and provide and he can be any race or skin colour
If you focus on skin colour to choose a partner, you may give a chance to a man you wouldn't even greet if character, values , and ability to provide where your primary criterias.
And I also think that promoting love based on skin colour is racist even though it's done by black people... it's races taking turns on claiming superiority and this doesn't make racism better or solve the problem.

I see where you are coming from but I think your comment ignores the history of black peoples and their love, specifically in the US. I don’t think anyone would disagree with what you’ve said, we shouldn’t base the idea of love on skin colour but you must acknowledge that there was a time when this love was demonised and punished because of its skin colour. So I hear you but I don’t think your comment looks at this series and it’s work holistically. Just look at how many comments they are in the channel saying that they did not know that healthy love existed between two ‘black’ people, that is a problem! And it has various causes and I think this is just one attempt solve that problem 🤷🏽‍♀️
