Having never seen anything about this game past the trailer until now. Seeing Joker go through all of these levels makes it so much funnier. It feels like a teenager dressed like that playing batman.
First of, nice video! Got my attention the whole way through. Ok, I got 2 tips that I haven’t seen mentioned in the video that could make the gameplay easier. 1. Knife: It should be number 1 solely because of its insta kill when you unlock charged backfist. The skill 1 shots every enemy type. Another move with the knife is the low sweep that cuts the enemy’s thigh, does massive heath damage and opening them up for combos. These help you with bodyguards and tanks. It’s especially helpful in the Museum. 2. Buffed enemy: you nailed all the room with buffed grunts. Now, the buff is triggered by a takedown and only the grunts with higher health. Therefore, curb stomp the weaklings and avoid using take down will sometimes prevent the power ups.
I love the "Shit!" At 36:34 when getting grabbed. It's that extra bit of personality, that "There's a person playing this game" feeling, that's really nice
Haven't even played Sifu and only heard about it when my friend was playing through it, only by chance found this video but stayed for the quality and entertainment, great job man.
A couple of tips I didn't see in the enemy types: 1) Leg Women are extremely vulnerable to crotch punch (an unlockable move, forward forward square). They have a very low stagger threshold, so if you connect with it while they are attacking they get staggered and you can counter attack. The reason this works so well is that all but one of the moves in their moveset start with a high attack, except for the regular sweep, which you can block even if you have already started the animation for crotch punch. When they are alone, they are essentially not a threat when you are using crotch punch. When they aren't alone, it is still very useful because crotch punch > push > chasing trip kick will immediately down them (and create space from other enemies). 2) Fat Boys, similarly, are powerless against charged backfist (also unlockable, hold triangle and release to strike). As long as you are close to them and charging the move, any attack they make can be countered during the initial windup, and they will be staggered (or stunned, depending on how long you were charging the move). Hilariously, this also works on Sean, but the timing is a lot tighter. One more tip that has worked for me: (and the only way I can consistently beat Kuroki) you can get a staff right before the two bladed leg women that you fight just before you get to her arena (it's on the last statue before you the trap door). If you drop it at the beginning of the encounter, deal with the two leg women, and then pick it back up, you can parry Kuroki instead of dodging her, because bladed weapons don't do chip damage if you block holding a weapon).
A thing that I have discovered while trying the challenge. When a combat have the possibility of a buff grunt, if the grunt that would evolve is defeated by hp damage, no takedown, the grunt will not buff. I know this info can’t be use in all buff grunt encounters, but in some, like the introduction of the buff or the arena at the party, can make the fight less demanding. To conclude, I really enjoy this type of execution of skills and strategy.
Important things I feel need to be noted, especially for less experienced players. Knives have a 1-shot attack when you charge the strike, the only thing it doesn't 1-shot is full on bosses and it uses the knife entirely on use to get rid of 1 person. This can be a damn life saver if you really don't want to screw with an encounter and saved a knife for it. Squats : (22:55) you can actually surprise 4 people here, there's a guy on the 2nd floor to the immediate left of your entrance door that you can vault over and surprise attack. The strat is to do the first 2 surprises shown on the video but instead of going into the middle you double back to the start and vault to surprise that guy, lets you get an extra person out of the fight if that's what you want. Fajar : There are bamboo sticks around the area in phase 2 you can use to help with preventing chip damage and generally have a weapon to fight with. Club : (39:45) These people are only hostile if you incite, this means anyone is viable to be surprise attacked for the most part and you can start the fight as you wish. Video is a very good spot to start though because of the multiple bottles. Museum : (55:33) If you saved a knife in the previous fight, you can actually use the 1-shot charge attack to trivialize this fight. Kuroki Phase 2 : Whenever she starts her running loop to close distance to you, most attacks you do that force your forward to close distance is actually a free hit provided you gauge the distances right. Tower : (1:15:18) You can 1-shot her with a knife when you rush up to her, try not to get too aggro or by the time you start charging the knife she'll turn around and start kicking your face in. Same goes for (1:18:11) as you can grab a knife off the right wall and stab her with it, a bit trickier since she's ready for you and leaves conversation from proximity at a farther range. Jinfeng : She's easy but if you're inexperienced she can kill quick because her attacks combo into eachother via the stun mechanic, be INCREDIBLY CAUTIOUS about this factor. Even 1 misplay and you can find half your health or more gone because of 1 stun, one of the only reasons she can be frustrating.
Getting all the stamps for all of the tiger arenas (dragon arenas too, if you're a masochist) immediately makes you a god at the story mode without you even realizing it

It’s useful to note that you can cancel any move in the game into a dodge or dash (tap run) Seriously though it’s like every single move it’s so worth learning cause you can get hit in the middle of certain things

Lookin cool, Joker! Great video but I'm gonna have to come back to this. I'm on my first playthrough mostly blind, I can get past the first level nonlethal at 23 consistently but I only beat the club once so far, had to kill and only barely did it at 72 I think. Improving in this game is so fun it feels like speedrunning, I only wish the skills weren't so grindy to permanently unlock.
The journey and constantly pushing further and further is genuinely the most fun part, and yeah I do think that getting each skill 5 times for perma-unlock is a little excessive.
You can just sprint straight into the juggernaut at the end of the squats, no convo necessary. I'd also recommend taking out the extra 2 guards overlooking the warehouse and then take out the red shirt, only leaves 6 grunts with a chance of a buffed grunt. Amazing vid anyways.

one thing i want to say about the shrine rewards is that for me i take focus regain, parry impact,weapon profeciency and weapon durability,one thing about weapon profeciency is that it increases the damage of the claw moves for example rising claw combo, and the heavy follow up after a crotch punch is considered as a claw attack so it does more damage another thing about weapon profeciancy is that it is crucial if you want to beat yang age 20 as yangs first phase is mostly parry and punishing him with the staff you find before you fight him , and focus regain i like to get this because of sean and jinfeng for sean i get a full focus bar after i dodge one of his combos IF i have maxed out focus regain which i always have before fighting sean and for jinfeng i just parry most of her moves and use my focus attacks when i get close to her.This is what you learn after you have got over 125 hours on sifu and gotten the platinum trophy anyways sorry for the long write and i hope this helps you in your future runs of sifu😄 (also loved your vid earned yourself a sub)
Pretty good video overall, I’d say don’t be worried to experiment with your own strategies for encounters as a lot in this video aren’t optimal Like at 32:00 you don’t have to fight the guy behind the counter, and there’s a stool you can kick to instakill one of the grunts and save bat durability
As someone who did a 20 run on disciple and master run I'd say the bat and and bo staff is definitely more useful in most cases including bosses (except for yang because of focus but but would definitely suggest having a weapon for him because his attacks have chip damage like weapons do) I mostly just go with the Perry aggression build and weapon aggression build and I do end up just maximum structure for the end because it freaking yang.
I was gifted the game recently but my first blind playthrough stalled out hardcore at the Museum when I ran into the mixup brick wall that is Kuroki. I know this guide is mostly meant for people who've already beaten the game once so you don't bother saying anything about your moveset or the xp unlockables ('throw weapons directly from the floor' is unironically godtier) but as a new player the breakdowns of movesets and group combat tactics (didn't realise it could be so easy to separate weapon-wielding enemies from their weapons), I also beelined for the weapon upgrades when it seems like focusing on the same upgrades as you would solve a lot of the issues I was having in my playstyle (i.e. trying to play it like Sekiro parrying everything and struggling to intermix avoids plus getting frustrated by parries doing fuck-all structure damage). I notice a lot of times in group battles you stop and wait a second rather than pressing the advantage which instantly feels like you learned my own lesson of 'sometimes enemies just donkey-punch you during animation lock so you can't dodge or block' the hard way. I had no idea minor falls down the stairs were so fucking strong either, that one Sean disciple right outside the boss arena who died instantly from tripping down 6 steps absolutely sent me. Now I just gotta hope this is enough for me to stomp Kuroki. Great video, well edited, script is a great balance of informative/instructional with a small handful of jokes to spice it up (yes I did laugh about Sean's long-ranged thrust mentally I am still 15), insane soundtrack, instant sub.
I have a friend that is currently playing the game on and off and these types of games often prove challenging for him so I know how much of a struggle it can be when they throw so much at you at once. And yeah I don't include it in the video because it's good to find your footing in the game first before trying to go deathless but permanently unlocking all the skills from the XP tree is gonna give you what you need to go toe to toe with challenges like Kuroki and Yang. So as long as your interest in the game remains, keep pushing bit by bit. You're not invincible but neither are they.
You don't mention it in the weapons section so I feel like i have to add that charged backfist works when you have a machete and it'll instakill but leave the machete in the enemy. I think you can also charged backfist with the staff to do a sweep.
I hath finished Sifu in age 20 and the only "strategy" I have is that one must admit the game is being fair with you as a matter of fact and it is you who is bad. This way, I've gotten rid of rage quits in Sifu and, later on, Sekiro. (+Sekiro Resurrection later as well)
I’ve been playing Sifu for a month or two now and I’ve gotten my playing down to age 39 at The Tower 🎉 Unfortunately I did not know that you can spare the bosses so I’ve just been doing a genocide run 😅
I could but it's easier for me to just leave a list in the description just in case of alternate track titles due to translation, unavailable uploads, etc. However since it is a big project I could make one for it.
There's one thing I just cannot do in this game: react to sweeps. The botanist on master difficulty has a regular attack he does that starts with 2 punches and immediately goes into a 50/50 of either a charged punch or a leg sweep. And I cannot react to it. I'm just mentally incapable of doing that input right on reaction. Everything else in this game I can deal with but 50/50s where you can't predict if its a sweep or not are ruining my master run for me.....
What I do is identify the combo where they do use sweep, parry/avoid the first couple hits then hit the sprint button on the last hit to dash away. Works for me since I can't react to a sweep whenever there's a crowd, hopefully it helps with you
Sweeps for me are definitely the hardest thing to react to in the game. It's why I panic parry them until I get them down but even then like with Yang's Phase 2 sweep where it's a chance it will still fold me half the time.
Ngl, Joker crashing out and going on a killing spree with his bare hands makes this even more entertaining than it already would've been

I recently beat the true ending at the age of 25. It was hard but it's so fun to play.
A tip for the tower is that you can skip the bodyguards in the spawn room by going straight into the elevator. They won’t stop you

Great video, well edited, script is a great balance of informative/instructional with a small handful of jokes to spice it up (yes I did laugh about Sean's long-ranged thrust mentally I am still 15), insane soundtrack, instant sub.
I have a friend that is currently playing the game on and off and these types of games often prove challenging for him so I know how much of a struggle it can be when they throw so much at you at once.
And yeah I don't include it in the video because it's good to find your footing in the game first before trying to go deathless but permanently unlocking all the skills from the XP tree is gonna give you what you need to go toe to toe with challenges like Kuroki and Yang. So as long as your interest in the game remains, keep pushing bit by bit. You're not invincible but neither are they.

You don't mention it in the weapons section so I feel like i have to add that charged backfist works when you have a machete and it'll instakill but leave the machete in the enemy. I think you can also charged backfist with the staff to do a sweep.
I hath finished Sifu in age 20 and the only "strategy" I have is that one must admit the game is being fair with you as a matter of fact and it is you who is bad. This way, I've gotten rid of rage quits in Sifu and, later on, Sekiro. (+Sekiro Resurrection later as well)
kuroki's first stage is annoying, though, i've never been able to dodge her attacks, but parrying them works well enough.

Yang held me back for ages. First time I beat him I got to the Sanctuary at age 27 then beat Yang at 75.

There's one thing I just cannot do in this game: react to sweeps.
The botanist on master difficulty has a regular attack he does that starts with 2 punches and immediately goes into a 50/50 of either a charged punch or a leg sweep. And I cannot react to it. I'm just mentally incapable of doing that input right on reaction.
Everything else in this game I can deal with but 50/50s where you can't predict if its a sweep or not are ruining my master run for me.....
What I do is identify the combo where they do use sweep, parry/avoid the first couple hits then hit the sprint button on the last hit to dash away. Works for me since I can't react to a sweep whenever there's a crowd, hopefully it helps with you
Sweeps for me are definitely the hardest thing to react to in the game. It's why I panic parry them until I get them down but even then like with Yang's Phase 2 sweep where it's a chance it will still fold me half the time.
