  • All right! I'm back on the horse. Wanted to re-vamp how I made these videos somewhat. Goal was to make my videos a little more interesting and digestible but still honest and meaty. So here's the first attempt in that direction. I'm working with Eric Alexander and Vince Herring here over "Blues up and down". This is the version from Emmet's Place. There's a great version from twenty years prior at "Smoke" which I definitely recommend you also check out. Coolest part is you can hear some of the same vocab choices here twenty years later! Another example to reinforce the idea that things aren't "random" the way things are stereotypically thought about in jazz. Three very clear Bb minor (concert) pentatonic lines over harmony that is predominantly diatonic over Bb7. For you tenor players, I've transcribed this in tenor key in the thumbnail and also in the video. Also note, the third line in the video is incorrect, corrected in the thumbnail. The line should start on beat 3 of the preceding bar rather than beat 1 of bar 9 of the form. All right, I hope you enjoy and please, steal these lines!

P.S. If you could please subscribe to the channel it would greatly help me grow my audience and also help you stay up to date with my latest content. Thanks!
