Clearly you had enough PPE and I don't know what was said to evoke that response but Doug why (after that amount of time on UA-cam) you didn't ignore comments you find stupid I don't know. I grew up in a world where employers would risk the lives of their employees to save a few pence on the pound, many men wouldn't come home after a days work, maybe 1 or 2 men would die on site, this across the country lead to 1000's each year, needless deaths. Health and safety has saved millions through out the world since the 60's, I agree there should be a odds counter ie if the chances of serious injury or death are lower than 1 in 50,000? (I don't know what the number should be) then a warning should be put on ect but the bottom line is it cost the employer and it saved the employee, I live in the UK so suing people or employers doesn't result in big pay-outs.

Amen Doug! I did 31 years in the military and the saftey nazis drove me nuts. I dont want to be hurt or see someone else hurt, but risk is part of everything we do. And not all risk is ever completely eliminated, we mitigate it and either accept to remaining risk or end the task. I found very few commanders that wanted me to just stop a task. I would have never completed any mission if I let the saftey nazis rule!

Im sorry to take the other side of the argument. I work with hydraulics and a lot of people skip the gloves part, a colleague of mine laughed about the gloves for 20 years, well he is not laughing anymore. If he is in the same room as hydraulic oil, his skin goes berserk. I think he wishes he listened to friendly advice. But hey, you cant fix stupid. 😂
Bad luck more than anything. Some people are just vulnerable to dermatitis. My dad worked with someone who had a similar effect from the fluid in the parts washer but my dad used it just as much and his skin is fine and he is retired now.
