I love the personalized approach to using your grandma's backpack. True nostalgia! Be firm and committed to finishing the trail. Having done so will give you great pleasure and sense of accomplishment as you age and interact with others.
When I go stoveless, I usually go Tortilla based. You can put almost anything in a Tortilla, like PB & J, PB + Raisins, PB + M&M's, PB + Banana, Pepperoni & Cheese, Tuna + Mayo, Spam + Mayo, Pulled Pork + Mayo, Avocado, Salami + Cheese, Precooked Bacon, Dehydrated Refried Beans + Bacon Jerky. Packaged lunch meat like Buddig Lunch Meat keep for a few days in cool weather.
Yes I did make some changes and try to call them out in update videos. I’ll do a full gear update when I’m off the trail but so far I changed the polycryo ground sheet for tyvek, got new shoes, changed my sleeping bag liner for one that adds 14 degrees and got a smaller pillow
Your kit looks good. It isn't clear to me. Are you starting from NY and going north or from Springer. Loon from NYC, did the NY to ME and then NY to GA flip flop in 2018. I thought that it was a very smart idea to start near home and see how she liked it. Excellent that you are carrying the potable water tablets. Consider adding: an umbrella, a Heatsheet emergency blanket, a stainless steel cup(550ml) with folding handles, some Esbit heat tablets, matches, and KT tape. With the cup and Esbit you can heat a cup of water for a hot beverage which may be very helpful on a cold morning. The cups are $5 at Walmart and may just slip over your cold soaking jar(they are made to slip on Nalgene bottles). When in the woods always have a knife and a way to start a fire. Did you have a headlight? Very important! Be sure to treat your clothes and gear with Permethrin just before starting out. The ticks and the diseases they carry are getting more plentiful each year. Four years ago my wife died from a tick disease. It was two weeks before our 39th anniversary. Be super careful about the ticks. I wish you Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick

Found your channel 5/11. Would like to know if you changed up your pack content after being on trail.

Nice gear set up! I don’t understand why people have such a hard time with Sawyer bags. I had one last nearly 2000 miles on the PCT.
I am excited to see you out 🥾. Have a great day 🌟 KEN MACHINE NC ❤️ John 3 16
See you out there!
New sub. Good gear review. We'll be following along.👍🌲
Thanks for following along! Trail update coming soon!
The Multicam outer and the blood red inner shell of your quilt almost made me scream MEEEDIIIIC. 🤪😂👍
