Should have a program where u can send it out to yall to install I want this for sure but I don’t trust myself to pry the screen off and all that I did the back no problem already but man that’s a lot of steps
It's not that bad. follow a slower tutorial here on UA-cam. No metal prying tools or metal guitar picks. Do it slowly. Don't pry at the corners of the screen at the start and use a heat gun on low and slowly increase as you need too if it's not coming up.
this is less of a "take the shell off of your steamdeck and give it a new one" and more of a "take your entire steamdeck apart and rebuild it in a new case"
This guide helped me out a lot...I just completed my JSAUX Atomic Purple shell replacement and it looks amazing and just the tools included with the kit alone is worth getting from JSAUX over ExtremeRate shell replacements.
Quite literally a full on Steam Deck factory simulator lmao. I want a transparent purple so much when I'll finally get my Deck but holy moly this is gonna be a giant gamble for me to do this with no previous experience and very likely no one in my area who could do that. but *FUCK IT, WE BALL*
Just made my pretty atomic purple! The guide and video were both excellent! Ive done alot of shell swaps so this wasnt too hard, just takes time and patience! Had to disassemble a couple times to address loose connections, but it all went very smoothly! ❤
I really hope they make an update kit for the OLED Steam Deck soon. Valve Staff on Reddit comments have said the back case is the exact same frame as the LCD Steam Deck, but the front case is completely different with some parts reworked for a better layout. Stuff like the RGB backplate also won't work anymore, since the battery source the original connected to doesn't fit the new OLED deck anymore. I'd really love to get either the Atomic Purple or Emerald Green shell on my OLED deck, I've done tech repair for years and am comfortable with the procedure. JSAUX just needs to update it for the new decks.
I did this today (I used the write-up in the video description), and I forgot to connect one ribbon cable in the end. Lol! My home button didn’t work and the ‘ … ‘ button on the right side. I was really worried but I went to calibrate and my right thumbstick was at -3000 and I opened it up it was just disconnected. Works now! The video is good and you need the precision tweezers and idk about the finger gloves but I tried viewing the website on a tablet and it didn’t work well, I had to use another pc. The new shells with rgb module looks cool too! (If you’re gonna attempt this I suggest buy a box of resealable bags and labelling everything with a sharpie because there’s various sized tiny screw everywhere and they explain which ones are which with pictures but you have to seperate everything and I used the original screws because the new ones come all inside one bag and you don’t know what goes where). Most memorable part was patiently scraping adhesive off the back of the screen with my thumb nail for 20 minutes. I would disregard the instructions for this part and paste the new adhesive on the screen side and not the shell. I also used another person to hold the front of the deck down while initially unsticking the screen. I thought I was gonna break it forever but it came out fine.
Quick tip Make sure that there's absolutely 0 gap while screwing in touchpads. Otherwise it will make squeaky sounds when you press it. Just swapped my front shell and new rgb back, Jsaux is worth the money and effort.
I have 2 left hands. If I see a need to upgrade my screen, I will definitely just buy this and keep the old casing+screen seperate. Also interesting to upgrade the sticks at that moment.
This guide helped me out a lot...I just completed my JSAUX Atomic Purple shell replacement and it looks amazing and just the tools included with the kit alone is worth getting from JSAUX over ExtremeRate shell replacements. Thanks JSAUX for the $10 offy front shell replacement because I've previously purchased the backplate from them, inly costed me $25 for the front plate and tools. #AtomicPurpleSteamDeckFTW 💜⚛️
I have a translucent green back case and loved it, I’ve been waiting for a full case kit but it’s taking to long. would have gotten one if you had the full translucent green. But you guys only have like 4 options :/ I decided to quit waiting and just got an extrem rate case.
I wonder how many people like me replaced their SSD and now they're thinking they can do this. Personally as someone who has ruined devices doing stuff like this. I can't recommend doing something like this. And I'm the type of person who doesn't want someone else touching my console so it'll stay stock except for the new SSD I installed.
I didn't realize all that was required for a front plate mod -- I thought it was as simple as installing the back plate. I was just about to buy this but now I'm super hesitant -- not sure I can trust myself to not break something.
Love this customization. I'm not going to attempt it though. For me, the skins are perfectly fine and I found a skin at the moment that I found great for me.. I encourage anyone that really wants to, to do this though. This is amazing and more support for these types of custom options is better for the fans in the long run.
the FPC ribbon was damaged somehow during my installation, i purchased new lcd thinkink that was the problem and no change so now it has to be the ribbon probably because of how it bends during the installation
The multiple perspectives is SO PHENOMENAL!!! YOU ALL ARE SO AMAZING FOR THIS!!! Please keep up your amazing work and I wish you all the ABSOLUTE BEST with your account on this platform!!!💪🤓
Just ordered the purple front/back case but sadly no anti-glare glass available at the time so will have to stick with the screen I have an anti-glare protector on as a result
Waiting on my rgb back and clear front case, i see the tray fits all of the pieces perfectly does that come with the covers or where can i purchase it.
Caso algué, saiba me ajudar com o touch eu agradeço
I wish Jsaux sells a prebuilt steam deck with mods. i really dont want to tear down my deck, well the front part. (32gb ram upgrade, 2tb SSD, and their heat crystal case)
Wait they just made a simplified version of the teardown that extremerate made lmao, thanks jsaux, although I'm probably gonna get the one from extremerate cuz i can't wait
@@Enyel210 you should also get a plastic opening pick, the metal one included by extremerate is NOT optimal for the screen removal. It's extremely sharp and cut right through my screen when I was doing the swap. Also btw although this tutorial is definitely more simple than the one by extremerate, there are some steps that are missing but necessary for extremerate's shell since their designs are different, they're pretty easy to work around tho
@@katonbot I did order a plastic pick too! But I heard a playing card could also do the job maybe even more effectively. Which steps are you referring to?
@@Enyel210 can't remember exactly what steps but I recall the speaker removal was prolly one of them. Jsaux kept the speakers connected while extremerate took them off, it was totally doable without taking them off but a little more difficult

Their back cases will. The one in the video won't, since it's the front case. Valve Staff on a couple Reddit posts I've found searching for this answer explicitly confirmed this. JSAUX needs to update the shells, I hope they do it soon. Really want to get one for myself.
As a non technically gifted person I think this kit should come with printed certificate of competition for everyone that manages to dis and reassemble all of these fragile parts 😅
All this effort and they forgot to put transparent backplate 🤣 Also does anyone know where to buy custom key. Looks like this plate also has fixed positions for X,Y,A,B so we can't swap to Nintendo layout
Anyone know where I can find a replacement for that cable he's removing at 6:43? I busted mine trying to get it off during the shell transfer and need a new one. Please help. :(
Update, I couldn’t find the cable, but I put my Deck back together without it. You just won’t have a working microphone, anymore. Use a wireless headset if you’ve got one that takes a 2.4Ghz adapter with it. That’s my work around.

If I ever attempt this type of tear down, I'm definitely going with a GuliKit Anti-Drift Joysticks and a Deck HD Screen Upgrade. 😃
exactly, otherwise so not worth the trouble
Do you really need an HD screen though?
@@LuckyBull my luck I would break the old screen trying to remove it !😂
that screen will drastically decrease the battery life so i wouldnt do that lol

Dude, I want to save this video so I can modify my steam deck later. Thanks man.
I like how they just pull the ribbon cables without unlatching them.
They "do" unlatch them, they just use their nails and not a tool for it...
Thank you... I learn better through reading but when I have a question then watching helps. I appreciate the hard work you did for this. Happy Gaming!
Now all we need from Jsaux are those green, red, blue, and yellow (A, B, X, Y) buttons and that atomic purple Steam Deck will look perfect.
I just did jsaux clear back cover. Quick and easy. I’m definitely buying the front to complete my deck. Great video!
Looks incredibly straight forward. Excited to get mine
