Guys. I know that the lyrics are "Hey, I'm NF" and not "Hell, man up." This video was created the day that Perception was released, so I got one thing wrong. No way to correct it now because youtube removed annotations, and there's no point in commenting about it because about 100 of the 300 comments on this video are about it.
In case you guys didn't know... FEAR: What are you, scared of me? It's embarrassing If it wasn't for me, you would've never wrote Therapy I've been here for you, but how come you're never there for me? It's a little bit twisted, but I miss when you and I had scary dreams NF: I don't really wanna talk about it FEAR: Well, that's too bad now, Nate, shut up! Now where were we? Way back in the day when You and I had it all mapped out in the basement Cryin' in your room like a baby "I wish mom was here." We all do-so we wouldn't have to hear about it Every single record you don't really wanna change me Yeah, I'm the one that made this happen Do you really wanna get rid of your main attraction? Let's pack our bags and go back to Gladwin now Yeah, it's time for the third record And you know I got the content I don't wanna make you nervous But it ain't like it used to be We got a lotta people watching' You told me that you don't want me in your life, that's pretty hard to digest And I told you I'd leave when we die, and we ain't died yet Therapy Session was beautiful, Nate, but I'm wondering' what's coming' next Yeah, get that stupid hat off of your head when I'm talkin' to you, you hear what I said? You don't like the prison I built you? Yeah, you wanna know what the funny thing is? You keep on talkin' to me like a stranger, but we've been together since you were a kid, yeah Took us from a no-name Told you everything was okay Now you tryna cut me out of it like I ain't never been a part of it I am the heart of it, I made this whole thing Yeah, I put us on the dope stage You must have no brain What's the point of having guns if you can't aim? What's the point of having blood with no veins? What's the point of having love with no pain? What I'm sayin' is me without you doesn't make any sense I know I'm intense in controlling, but you need to learn how to cope with it That's just the way that it is If you didn't want me to live in your house, you shouldn't have let me move in It's comfortable here and I like it, I got my own room and everything It don't get better than this! You say you wanna own your life, then wake up and take your own advice You just mad 'cause you know I'm right Yeah, I'm flattered you put me in Mansion, but you should've told 'em right 'Bout your hands on the coldest nights You didn't tell 'em 'bout the times you and I used to hold the mic I mean, what are you, outta your mind? 'Cause both of us will be, come on, let's go outside! Is this what you wanted? Both of us out in the open? Let's do it then I mean, why are you doing' this? I know that you're mad, but I'm not in the mood for this We got a record to drop So why you actin' like I'm not a part of it? NF: And where is my shovel at? FEAR: Prolly all back-where it always is You can't get rid of all of me I'm the reason why- NF:Nah, shut up, I don't wanna hear another sentence FEAR: Hey, I'm NF, "Is it me or the fear talkin'?" Ha! What a dumb question! Yeah, it's real music 'til the day we die, right? Yeah, ain't that the slogan, Nathan? NF:Thought I told you to keep your mouth shut FEAR:I mean, so what? You know I never listen Let me guess We gon' dig a hole, kill the track, and prolly put a beat in it Rap about it for like three minutes Ayy, that's pretty deep, isn't it? Wait a minute, you don't really think for a second that you're puttin' me in this? NF:No, of course not, just a lil' deeper then we'll go inside and we can stop diggin' FEAR:Woo! You had me scared for a second, I thought we were diggin' my grave NF:We did, what, you don't like being' afraid? It's a dose of your own medicine What, you don't like how it tastes? My therapist told me don't bury my issues, but I'ma be honest, man, I'm feelin' great! I think it's only right we go back to where you were created I wrote a song for Johnny without you, but he ain't gon' like it, let's see how he takes it He probably don't even remember us, does he? I wish I was burying' anger, but both of us know I'ma need him for that song, he still lives in the basement Almost done, shoulda done this a year ago I don't know why I waited You know how I get, I put everything off of my personal life, you hear what I'm sayin'? That was a joke Yeah, it's hilarious, ain't it? You'll spend the rest of your life in my backyard or back of my mind, depends how you see it Put the shovel away, time to go back in the house now, you'll be out in a week Tellin' me you want your room back, that's funny; what, you ain't got nowhere to sleep? I'ma just look out the window and laugh at you, this is crazy to me 'Cause I thought you had me in prison this whole time, but I'm the one holding' the keys
coreyon davis this needs to be rap!!!! Tbh idk what the message of the song is.... but I feel he’s talking about mental struggles like stress... anxiety... depression... so it’s him talking to himself.... and I can relate.... this... Ikr! He's so underrated. People would rather have people who mumble random words that happen to rhyme. And it's the same thing with them. They talk about buying chicks and doing drugs. But NF...NF got talent👌👌
Dark Nf against Nathan, I love it. It makes a good kind of story for him. I wish he had a music video for this one. "I thought we were digging my grave." *Thunk* "We did, what you don't like being afraid?" OMG sooooo good!
Skidaddle Skadoodle ikr. Every other song I’ve listened to has repetitive verses (which is expected for music) but the fact that none of his are repetitive is honestly incredible
NF is a great rapper and I actually think he’s the truest rapper we might ever know for now because all the people are rapping about money and all this other nonsense. This is probably a rapper that’s going to be as real as it gets!
me at 3:00 : WHOS JONNY? my favorite part is probably when he goes...."You had me scared for a second, i thought we were diggin my grave. *THUNK* we did, what you don't like bein' afaird?" I JUST LOVE THE SHOVEL THUNKING!!! this.. is a real rapper here.
Johnny is the guy he mentioned in Mansion, who brought fear to him in the first place. Johnny was his moms boyfriend that physically abused him. (Most likely, looking at Mansion anyway).
98% of the comments “It's not hell man up, it's hey it's NF“ (auto correcting) 1% of the comments saying they just found the song 1% of the comments complimenting the song.
Jack the Herper I like both and it’s hard to choose because I grew up with all rap and I’ve heard NF before but my bsf brought it out of me and now I can’t stop listening to Nathan or Eminem
'what's the point of having guns if you can't aim, what the point of having blood with no veins, what's the point of having love with no pain' this verse bloody sent chills down my spine, so good!!
You know what I think. I think when NF says “I wish I was buryin' anger But both of us know I'ma need him for that song” he is referring to “How could you leave us.” It would make a lot of sense since it was on the same album and arguably his most emotional song on the album.
1:31 interesting wording here. Nathan's fear says me without you makes no sense. It shows that fear was so big that it took up more of him than himself
You got me scared for a second, I thought we were diggin’ my grave We did, what, you don’t like bein’ afraid? It’s a dose of your own medicine What, you don’t like how it tastes? My therapist told me don’t bury my issues, but I’ma br honest, man, I’m fellin’ great! 2:48 - 3:02
This song makes me think of my anxiety... And fear of being a failure.... I love NF's music so much and I know he has worked so hard to put his thoughts out in the world esspically cause he is in the public eye now... But he is such a talented guy... And you can tell hes been through alot growing up... He channels the pain and fear through his music
An Artist who opens up publicly about his deep fearful feelings. And he is so sincere. Nathan puts so much feelings in it. In us all lives fear . Truly moving.
“What’s the point of having guns if you can’t aim? What’s the point of having blood with no veins? What’s the point of having love with no pain?” -that was deep
Anyone else realise that he puts the names of the songs?? And it’s like he answers to the other songs!! He also includes his albums!! Amazing!! I love his originality!! 💛🧡❤️ love u nf
My GOD this is fucking phenomenal!!! I had tears. This speaks to emotional abuse, codependency, and addiction to people. It’s so powerful, wow wow wow.
This is called, shadow work. Lookup Carl Young, and shadow work. It requires a high level of emotional maturity, and self control. Very impressive for someone his age.
I get you NF. I have OCD too, it literally sucks the happiness out of you and turn it into a gigantic hell. I'm crying my heart out with these lyrics..
Guys he’s talking to his shadow which we all have. The place where our ugliest selves and emotions dwell. When those emotions were once our best friends, but know hold us back. So it’s a constant battle between the two. He DOES sound crazy to people who can’t really relate to his music.
This gave me the words to my life turning points , I can't count how many times I've killed the ego, if ,or superhero , I don't have multiple personalities , we all fight with three people inside , I usually bury myself in mirrors or doorways , doorways are turning points , mirrors are when you can see yourselves , nf thank you for putting words to it amen x
Idk if you guys caught this. But he referenced previous songs in this one. Like for example he talked about therapy session, mansion and even no name. He referenced them as a leading point up to here. Genius

I feel like he means his fear, as if his fear is rapping this.... I think it would make sense and I always listen to the words to understand, but what I have learned is that I will never be able to feel or understand how a person is feeling i the inside. But people don’t realize that, but I’m someone that does so I feel hopeless, bc how I feel hurts so bad and I can’t explain to anyone how I feel.... but Nate’s music always gives me hope, and makes me forget about my hopelessness.
all I can think of is that depression shapes people and there are people who have became well adjusted to the demon that depression is. I think people get so used to it, they dont know what will be left of them if they didnt have such dark and brooding thoughts. it can become an identity for people. and like in this song, his struggles helped him reach his dreams.

It's just 1 mistake it's fine. I thought it was "Hell, man up" too.
also it’s not probably all back. it’s probably out back after the shovel line where he asked where it was.
The right lyrics are “Hey I’m NF” you got it right
@@6ickvn omg it's already done with stop. No need to continue to comment about mistakes. No way to fix it

Am I the only one noticing that this man didn’t repeat ANYTHING in this song?
he repeated the following words:
me, you, we, I, is, my, why
but that's only on the technical level
Bethem Fedamey True lmao. But for example he didn’t repeat any lines it’s incredible.

Nope,he just telling his feelings about his issues,so I don't think artists supposed to repeat the song by there issues
They hardly do that in most of their songs I've heard... which is only a few

this.. is a real rapper here.
Me too
Johnny is the guy he mentioned in Mansion, who brought fear to him in the first place. Johnny was his moms boyfriend that physically abused him. (Most likely, looking at Mansion anyway).

You know what I think. I think when NF says
“I wish I was buryin' anger
But both of us know I'ma need him for that song”
he is referring to “How could you leave us.” It would make a lot of sense since it was on the same album and arguably his most emotional song on the album.
"How could you leave us" is on Therapy Session album and "Intro III" is on Perception album...
If you think about it he might of been referring to paid my dues
damn, I wish i could beat depression with a shovel. NF's music is truly amazing

"HOLY SHIT" THE BEAT TO THIS SONG IS JUST PHENOMENAL! This is going to be my latest repeat song.

Its so amazing how he took important phrases from the album's songs to make the intro. Its a genius move which makes this intro just amazing.

Did no one know who this was untill he said "you put me in Manion" FEARRRRRR
