Thanks for this Justin. Its one of those songs that I know heard before, long, long ago, but don't know when - probably 40+years ago when I was a young boy. You can hear the Mike Oldfield influence in the song. Thanks again Justin, keep 'em coming! Seasons greetings from the UK.
Hi Justin! Yes, I remember this catchy song being in the charts back in the late 70s. I must have seen Sally Oldfield perform this on "Top of the Pops" which my family used to watch religiously every Thursday evening. She does have a beautiful voice!
This takes me back. Happy memories from childhood. Beautiful song with a lilting Hawaiian flavour and Sally's gorgeous ethereal vocals. Sally's only charting single, this went top 20 in December 1978.
It is fitting. I recall that not long after this time was mentioned, the world got to see the animated Lord of the Rings movie. It is interesting how many bands got inspired by the world of Tolkien
Hi JP. DP from UK. I Can Remember this single on the radio, and Sally appearing on the Top Of The Pops TV show. Plenty of charm, if a bit twee, and has a nice Hawaiian lilt. P.S. my song ref I Can Remember is by The Raspberries.
It really is the coda to the Waterbearer suite. Strange to me to listen to it apart from the rest. Looking out the window right now, snowing like crazy, it made it sound like a Christmas tune.
If you search songs of Sallyangie ,the duo with brother Mike Oldfield, you can hear the steps to this direction already. The title song of their sole album "Children Of The Sun" for example.
A bit lightweight, wandering uncomfortably close to twee. I like some of the stuff she did with Mike in Sallyangie when she was 20 and he was about 16. Love In Ice Crystals is one of the highlights of what I believe was their only album.
Ah... such memories from my childhood. Thanks Just.

This is such a charming song from a great album. I think Sally used this motif in her song "The Sun In My Eyes."

Reminds me of the lovely "Melt the Snow" by Virginia Astley
I love this song
Sally is a real life elf 😀
