dear lord this had me in tears. i had a friend, about 5-6 years ago, in the situation of the dad in this song. erily similar to this song. military tried throwing red tape in his way to keep him at his post until his whole unit threatened to go AWOL to get him to his dying son. don't remember what unit it was, but they were determined. finally the higher ups relented and got him a priority flight from iraq to seattle. got him there with something like 2 days to spare before his son passed from this world. kid was only about 7. RIP jack. eternal thoughts and prayers, kevin.

Tape him a video message so that he will always have a reminder of your face and voice. Tell him you love him. He will need something to bring forward with him when you pass. It is never too late to wish for a miracle, and I hope you get one. Fight bravely but love harder.

I had just lost a 21yo cousin in October, and the grief of losing a child is incomprehensible, and this song hit those feelings to make it relatable, that the feeling of helplessness and loss is the same across the board, regardless of how, and that the spirit of those that we lose do their best to love and live each day with us.

I think this has to be the saddest Christmas song I have ever heard. My heart just broke into a million pieces a million times over. I am sobbing just as hard as when I lost my mom on Christmas. Back in 2016, just after my son was born in March, my Grandma (and best friend) passed away in April from cancer, cancer also took my Mom. I know this is a reality for people, and being a mother of two I can only empathize. The fear of losing a child to cancer is what no parent wants ever to have happen to them. Sad song but also a sad reality, one no one wants to come true.

After almost losing my mom in June of 2021 this has a whole new meaning. She spent 2 months in the hospital and is still recovering to this day. I almost did not have this last Christmas with her
This song is amazing. My wife's 19-year-old great-nephew Brandon is fighting brain cancer and they had told us that if it came back, there would be nothing else they could do. The cancer came back. We were praying he would make it to Christmas 2021. Praise God for researchers and doctors who don't give up. They did genetic testing and consulted with doctors as far away as England. Turns out Brandon has the same genetic mutation as former President Jimmy Carter had and, even though it was a different type of cancer in a different place, they decided to try the same type of chemo. We found out last week that the chemo is WORKING!! Not only did we get our wish for Christmas 2021 with cancer but we have hope of another one (or more)! Praying for all the cancer (and other) patients out there ... that they get their Christmas miracles, too!

My family and I lost our beloved Papa, unexpectedly Christmas morning in 2019 and that Christmas eve, was the last time we heard his voice as he called to wish us a Merry Christmas.
