From the Author: "The "Black Forest Specimen" from the first Nazi memo was a living biomechanical spaceship; if you've ever seen the show Farscape, think of the Leviathans from that. It thought our solar system seemed interesting and came to take a look, and one of the first things it chose to investigate was Jupiter's Great Red Spot. This led to its unfortunate run-in with 2399, and the BFS just barely escaped. Radio signals from Earth clued it in to the fact that a technological civilization existed here, so it limped its way over to us and crash-landed in Germany in the early-mid 1930s. That's when the Nazis found it and poked it with sticks until they figured out how to attach jumper cables to the alien and use it to power a giant battleship. The mutagen that makes the -1 instances is "Compound 17", a failed super-soldier serum. Most of the Bismarck's crew and the BFS were exposed to the entire remaining supply during that final battle, causing them (along with any unfortunate marine life nearby) to fuse together into 4217-B. The biomechanical nature of the BFS further allowed this amalgam to fuse to the Bismarck itself, resulting in the new SCP-4217. This transformation took place over the course of a few decades, during which time it slept on the ocean floor. 4217 has the memories of the alien, sailors, and fish that it was made of, but these pieces were… poorly assembled. I tried to make its dialogue reminiscent of an ape using sign language, because that's about the level of intelligence it's operating on. On top of that, all of these conflicting memories that it doesn't fully understand result in what is essentially a case of Dissociative Identity Disorder. Hostile states are when it switches to "Nazi Mode" and its instincts drive it to perform the mission assigned to the Bismarck: Hunting and sinking Allied shipping vessels."
So essentially, it is a peaceful creature, that came to our solar system to explore and observe, got attacked by the destroyer on Jupiter and fell somewhere on Nazi Germany where it was enslaved and now, decades later, it's suffering from multiple personalities disorder.

God damn, this SCP is so good! I particularly like the link to 2399; I love it when authors build on existing files! It sounds to me as if 4217 not just knows of but very greatly, very SPECIFICALLY fears the Malfunctioning Destroyer. And that note about the recovered specimen sounds like the actual 4217 creature built into the ship is extraterrestrial in origin. So maybe the implication here is that 4217 was used as the heart of the Bismarck because the Germans originally found it performing a similar role aboard an interstellar vessel? What if another race had fought such ships and realised how hard they are to kill completely? What if the only way they found to destroy the threat of 4217's species was to deploy autonomous units with enough firepower to crack open a planet... just like the one currently stuck in Jupiter's atmosphere... that seems so very, very desperate to reach the Earth... as if it's the only thing that could possibly complete it's assigned task...
The entity is a combination of the crew, most likely after it was heavily affected by the mutagen rounds on the ship that were destroyed during the battle. There is also a high chance some of the crew are apparently aware of the existence of the "malfunction destroyer" SCP. Is also most likely that Germany Nazi became aware of the "Malfunctioning destroyer" far before the SCP foundation.
@@AngryProtoBoi Because while one half of it is the mutated crew of the Bismarck, the other is a (probably also mutated) Alien that had an encounter with the destroyer and was shot down to crash land on earth. Both these parts were fused together into one entity. Could also be that an octopus was also caught up in the mutagen detonation.
I did not expect it to have a voice, let alone accept human communication from it. Honestly, the Bismark is a badass battleship but the SCP foundation just made it even more badass.
When I saw Bismarck in the title, I was like ”There has to be some references to Sabaton’s song” and I wasn’t disappointed. But why is some words redacted?
@@punishedwhirligig3353 The last video SCP Illustrated posted is about the Washington Monument mission in Modern Warfare 2. @YoloSwagger 3816 is incorrect.
So far as I understand... The "Red Destroyer" (the SCP inside the red storm of Jupiter) sent this tentacle monster to earth which landed in Germany between 1933 (Hitler became Chancellor) and 1937 (The Bismarck's construction was finished). The germans found out it's power and implemented during the Construction of the Bismarck.
The author said in a forum post that the heart of the Bismarck is an alien creature that, on it's way to Earth, had a run in with 2399. He also said the reason it's insane is because the detonation of the mutation shells fused the bodies of the crew with the alien, so it's mind is an incoherent mess of alien and Nazi. When it enters its "hostile state" that's when the Nazi side briefly became superior to the alien side. It also says in the article that the video feed also "confused" 2399 with the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal, which played a major hand in sinking the Bismarck in 1941, and SCPS Nemed, so that's how the captain knew they were boned.
@@IntergalacticBinman the question for me was as to how those mutation weapon shells were produced or if they were of alien origin as well..? And how the whole occult* thing mentioned before plays into all of it, if that what it was... in terms of subduing and manipulating the 4217 and associated, if it was indeed something of ancient knowlege and potentially alien in origin as well, something that was found, studied, or acquired prior...
It’s not uncommon I do it all the time. But then again my soul is bound to the Tirpitz for eternity. Tirpitz suggests things to me and I agree or not, I work for the foundation and they in turn help with ship upkeep and that keeps me living
You are right this thing appears to be used on soldiers first before being embedding onto a ship, it sounds likely that it crashed on earth and was recovered by Germany I think the heart is the only thing that survived entry and was recovered before it could regenerate
The author of the article said that the engine of the Bismarck was some sort of alien that fought with 2399 and then escaped, crashing on earth. When the mutation ammo on the Bismarck went off and infected the crew, they fused with alien powering the ship. That's why the ship sometimes becomes hostile, because the "Nazi" part of its brain takes control, and hunts down ships.
@@brickhouseproductions777 So Your saying that the "Bismarck" is the Target of Scp-2399? Or is it still Targeting the Human Race as an Number 1 Priority. Jesus how the plot Thickens.
@@DemonHunter2271 that's either Kancolle, Azur Lane, or some other game of the style, all I know is that it looks like Bismarck from Azur Lane, and I approve of that
This scp is amazing, I loved the entire entry yet I may have a theory that perhaps when scp-2399 crashed into IO, part of the broken parts may have crashed landed into earth and then those broken parts were used in the creation of scp-4217
Hmmmm, that's interesting, a wholly different take, a lot of people had an impression that that implication was that the two were enemies of some sort or antagonistic in some way...
What I want to know is this. Did the "heart" of 4217 see something other than the 2399, and that's why it got scared, or does it just come down to the fact that an organism looked at a planet destroying super weapon, realized what it could do, and got scared. Im probably looking into this to much, but it's SCP, who knows.
@@Mophony personally that's why I love the idea of scps, precisely because you can get lost once in a while by "thinking things through 'too deeply..."
I was legitimately scared when SCP-4217 transmitted its memories. That was portrayed excellently, I cannot say it enough. Can't wait to see your next video!!
If I had to make a guess, I’d say that SCP-4217 at some point in it’s lifetime encountered SCP-2399, or at least a machine of the same design and origin. 4217 could possibly be the last survivor of an alien race destroyed by the creators of 2399 or 2399 itself (if it has no creators), which would explain why 4217 began panicking the more it visualized Jupiter and the Red Spot.
i like how in the beginning black box log, the members are joking around and stuff like that, reminding us that there are real people in the SCP foundation
Imagine something similar to this on the Yamato.... Maybe Japan's aggression on China actually has a more sinister reason. I don't think the Bismarck is the only manifestation of 4217. The reason why Chiang Kai-shek hesitated to resist Japanese agression on central China might be because they were secretly cooperating to recover another instance of 4217, which was discovered there.
@scpillustrated, thank you and your hardworking team for working on such an amazing project. Adding/creating these pictures really put the scp mind set clear and really expand more questions and theories of what is going on. Again I thank you and your hard working team
During the end it kept mentioning and showing Jupiter, and do the captain assumed the creature was from there, but at the end, it showed what looked like a city in the red spot of Jupiter, so this thing could be related in some way to SCP-2399 a alien super weapon thing, that originated from Jupiter’s red storm, and had been caught making communication with living beings in the Triangulum Galaxy
Or perhaps was originally the heart if SCP-2399 but during the impact the creature flew to earth, and the creatures feared that it would do something so they ordered SCP-2389 to try and kill SCP-4217
Sounds to me like the creature inside the Bismarck fears 2399. Maybe 2399 and other vessels like it were built specifically to hunt it's species? Maybe the Germans put that creature into the Bismarck because they initially found it performing a similar task in a crashed spaceship, and weapons like 2399 were the only way another race could find to decisively kill such ships?
Obskura documents said that most of the damage was not from the crash. I took it to mean that 2399 was used to attack 4217. After it fell on Earth Obskura made it the Bismarck's engines. Captain Wegner was mistaken in thinking that 4217 showing images of Jupiter meant that it came from Jupiter. 4217 being confused between 2399 and Ark Royal also shows that it views 2399 as an enemy weapon that hurt it.
This is very interesting, the fact that it might be connected to The Destroyer is intriguing. I would love to see more of this. Great job on making this, it was really amazing, especially that part at the end :)

There is also a high chance some of the crew are apparently aware of the existence of the "malfunction destroyer" SCP. Is also most likely that Germany Nazi became aware of the "Malfunctioning destroyer" far before the SCP foundation.
An Imperial Guard
So why does the entity have a pair of gigantic octopus eyes?
@@AngryProtoBoi Because while one half of it is the mutated crew of the Bismarck, the other is a (probably also mutated) Alien that had an encounter with the destroyer and was shot down to crash land on earth.
Both these parts were fused together into one entity.
Could also be that an octopus was also caught up in the mutagen detonation.

From what I've heard it encountered 2399 and basically got fucked up, and 2399's entirely mechanical.
Mike Cram is right, and his explanation fits how 4217-B is terrified from 2399.
Corect me if I'm misunderstanding this, but does this mean this thing has a connection to SCP 2399?
Yes
Yeah
Most likely

SCP-4217: DIE FAHNE HOCH
So its extraterrastrial being? How did it came to earth, captured, and weaponized? I doubt this thing is destructible at all.
You are right this thing appears to be used on soldiers first before being embedding onto a ship, it sounds likely that it crashed on earth and was recovered by Germany I think the heart is the only thing that survived entry and was recovered before it could regenerate
Is it possible that it is part of SCP-2399?
Sterling Hammond it has to be
The author of the article said that the engine of the Bismarck was some sort of alien that fought with 2399 and then escaped, crashing on earth. When the mutation ammo on the Bismarck went off and infected the crew, they fused with alien powering the ship. That's why the ship sometimes becomes hostile, because the "Nazi" part of its brain takes control, and hunts down ships.

Never expected this at this time.
So....It is in someway connected to the Malfunctioning Weapons platform of Jupiter?...
Creepy as hell. But rather interesting.
If the Yamato was built with an instance of 4217-B, it would be unkillable. AA guns would be something that the Bismarck didn’t have.
Dude don't worry in the SCP 4217 file they said the SCP German military is gaining information if Tirpitz is a instance of SCP 4217

I think that the heart of SCP-4217 was SCP-2399's target.
Or perhaps was originally the heart if SCP-2399 but during the impact the creature flew to earth, and the creatures feared that it would do something so they ordered SCP-2389 to try and kill SCP-4217

Maybe scp 4217 is the species taht made 2399
Sounds to me like the creature inside the Bismarck fears 2399. Maybe 2399 and other vessels like it were built specifically to hunt it's species? Maybe the Germans put that creature into the Bismarck because they initially found it performing a similar task in a crashed spaceship, and weapons like 2399 were the only way another race could find to decisively kill such ships?
Baron Von Mott makes sense but i think the creature in the bismarck hunts the aliens taht made
2399 or is a alien taht made it
Maybe there 2 races in a war and whe are bystanders the creature in the bismarck could be as old as 2399
Obskura documents said that most of the damage was not from the crash.
