My great aunt went to NYC in the summer of 2001 as a tourist snd she was on the south tower observation deck. She has quite a few photos of the NYC skyline from up top. She has always felt a weird kind of eerie feeling knowing she stood where thousands of people died.
My boss and the crew I work with were contractors that did a lot of machinery service in the subcellars of both towers, and my dad knew a guy who worked the night shift as an engineer in the north tower. My boss and my coworkers were in rock center the day flight 11 hit the north tower, and they basically dropped what they were doing and ran back up to the service along with other engineers and janitors. My dads buddy clocked out of the tower at 8:30 and got home where his wife was crying at 9:10.
Yeah and my buddys uncles cousins granpas father was the one who biuld the Titanic. I only know this because my cousins grandpas uncles fathers brother says so.
Ps most of these pics were taken by Konstantin Petrov, an Estonian who worked in Windows of the world in tower 1. He worked night shifts so left the building on the morning of 9/11 before the attacks happened. Sadly he died the next year in a motorcycle accident.
I tried commenting a link to his albums on Fotki but UA-cam kept removing it. I didn't realise he died afterwards :( That makes his images even more eerie
6:03: that’s where Chief Pfeifer and Jules Naudet had pulled up and parked when Pfeifer and his envoy arrived at the North Tower on 9/11. Also, during the whole time the North Tower was burning, that would be one of the few main spots that debris and bodies would land, so much so that some people who escaped from the lobby had to run and hope not to get crushed by anything from above.
Something I think you'd enjoy researching would be the 'Disintegration Loops' made by William Basinski. It's an album comprised of musical loops Basinski had recorded in August of 2001 to create an Avante-Garde album, but coinciding with the attacks Basinski had witnessed from the rooftop of his apartment in New York, decided to dedicate to the victims of the attack. Basinski would use an hours worth of tape shot from his point of view towards the smoke where the towers fell as backdrop to the album, recorded during the final hour of daylight on September 11th. The entire album is incredibly powerful (to me at least) and gives off a very beautiful but melancholy tone, contrasting the emotional music with the sad sight of smoke rising over the sunset. In 2002 it was released, and 20 years it was remastered for it's upcoming induction into the 9/11 national museum.
What fascinates me is this story that appeared on Unsolved Mysteries about the girl who went missing the night before 9-11. She had been there in that area shopping and then suddenly disappeared out of thin air. Where did she go? Who was she with? Nobody can figure out what happend to this woman the night before 9-11. It's really fascinateing bc she is on video camera just shopping behaveing normally and after that they cannot place her on camera where she went and who was around her.
OMG Ginger and Fans I found an Archive channel on the WTC that is Full of Videos from inside the Towers and the Mall underneath it. In the Courtyard with a Band playing on Stage and a Festival going on. Just Tons of stuff you didnt think existed from office workers working to the Sky lobbies and everything in between. The channel on here is called Aluminum Oxide. Cant post a Link here for some reason but the video is from 2 years ago called Twin Towers (Vaporwave WTC Mix) 4K upscale VHS Archive. A Must see ! There is a part 2 also.
Is Aluminum Oxide Twin Towers on UA-cam. Also Vaporwave is music always with images of the TwinTowers while playing the music. A great 2024 to you and a million thanks for shareing
My grandparents have a picture from a disposable camera of them in NYC’s Times Square sometime between the late 1970s to the early 200s. On the frame, in clear view, the twin towers of the World Trade Center. They claim they also have a super 8 movie of that same trip but have no idea where it is.
It's been 22 years already, but I'm still fascinated about these towers and the events of 9/11. Pretty sure one of the first drawings I ever made as a small kid was of them after I seen them on the telly during the early 80's.
I was 10 years old when on 9/11 still remember everything about that day so vividly. What I was doing, what I had for breakfast, what song was playing on the radio, etc. haunting
I think about 9/11 & the nostalgia of how different the world was & I really hoped that they would’ve rebuilt the Twin Towers tho because they were my favorite skyscrapers but I don’t remember them at all because I was 3 years old when 9/11 happened
My nephew was in university in Windsor Ontario Canada and he took a week long trip to New York, and we have a picture of him at the towers when he went to see it....the date he went was September 10, 2001 at about 2 pm.
A few of the photos were taken with a Nikon digital camera by a WotW employee and uploaded in 2001 post-9/11, I've commented with the link to the rest of them
You would have some amazing photos of the twin towers & the views from the top of there you could probably get some amazing drone footage from there too
Pre 9/11 I never knew what these two towers were! They were in films, music videos and on the news but they were New Yorks skyline and they owned it. 9/11, and the towers were destroyed with so many souls in and around them.....I now know what they were/are. Intriguing towers. We have been to NY and seen the Pools and One World. Thankyou for your channel. God bless all the lives lost ❤
I can remember the documentary of the 2 French brothers and the firemen were also doing an exercise on September 10 with the WTC in the background and I don't think it was raining (yet)
September 11, 2001, Flight 77 reportedly hit the 77 foot tall Pentagon, in Washington D.C. on the 77th Meridian West, after taking off at 8:20 AM and crashing at 9:37 AM, 77 minutes later
There's a video on here of the smoke cloud moving towards the water. Battery Park was too close to ground zero? Supposedly the apt. buildings were completely shut down for awhile until tenants could return?
Coming up on the 23rd anniversary in four months. Still cannot believe that the security in America was that lax. These hijackers were training here in Florida and nobody had a clue. It still stuns me today.
Im a big fan of yours from England, but can you please rank Premier League scoreboards as the Premier League basically invented the scoreboards that you see on sports
Some of the photos were uploaded to a photography site by a WotW employee post-9/11 who also listed the camera used and date the image was taken, I've posted the link in a separate comment
At 2:13 some of those chairs look to be in an appalling state! I don’t think it’s the light either. They look like they’ve been collecting dust/haven’t been used for quite some time 🤔
The chairs were velveteen and the fabric pile if not brushed in the correct direction which looks awful, they are beautiful just not set up for the function and brushed down...

@@djdrunkenmonkey2 I love the way you describe the Twin Towers. Minoru Ysmasaki, the lead architect who designed them wanted them to be like prisims reflecting light and called them "living symbols of peace." They fulfilled that calling so much more than what Mr. Yamasaki could have imagined.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that still thinks about 9/11
It’s the defining event of our lives. When all this happened I never imagined this thing would overshadow the rest of our lives. But here we are.
@jpmnky it still feels fresh even though its been over 20 years
I worked there prior to 9/11 and wanted to go back. Not ONE day passes that I don't miss them and want them back. On that score I'm not alone
You're not alone. I was 17 during 9/11. I'm 40 now, and still think about it everyday.
@mikeophoven4527 I was 12 living in Minneapolis at the time. Day felt so weird everyone was so quiet that even the animals were quiet

The pictures with the empty chairs definitely have that liminal space aesthetic. Several of the other pictures do too.

Am I the only one who finds it weird to use pictures of the WTC on flight simulators?
Deberían hacer las torres gemelas otra vez mas fuertes mas seguras con mas escaleras de emergencia
The building would have no use anymore for modern times. We don't need that much office space. And there were emergency staircases.
