Hiking along the Italian farmland and vineyards | Day 1 of Via Francigena from Aosta to Chatillon

- It was the first day of Via Francigena trail when we hiked around 20 kms from Quart in Aosta to Chatillon.
We started the hike in Aosta Italy and planned to move further across the country to reach the Tuscany fields that is believed to be one of the most beautiful parts of this trail.
It was the start of July and that day was expected to be very sunny and hot right from the start and it came true during the day. The air was very hot and stuffy too and it was hard to breathe. The trail was going quite flat all the first part just passing through the villages and little towns. There were still a lot of big snowcapped mountains around us and the landscapes were quite dramatic. We couldn't get over of the beautiful Alps mountains that we got to discover recently and were happy to be around them still. Most of the trail was going quite easy mostly on the pavement routes and sometimes on the dirt farm roads. The marking was quite good. Along the way we saw lots of vineyards here and there as well as many gardens with lots of fruit growing in them. So we made a conclusion that the people there are very dedicated to their land and this kind of labor…

We are a couple who once fell in love with mountains and couldn't get back. So we decided to follow our heart and move from a big city to a small village to be able to do what we love and to create this content. Our goal is to promote the healthy lifestyle, to motivate people to travel more and care for nature around. We are passionate walkers who love hiking, trekking and camping. We offer the detailed information of our hikes and routes, including the map and all the directions, so that you can repeat it if you'd like to.
We choose walking over driving and other types of transportation whenever we can because we learnt that this way we see so much more and can explore and feel the place better. Walking is an excellent activity that has so many benefits to your health and requires no special equipment or practice, so we encourage you to get the most out of it and get out walking.
We speak English, Spanish, French and Russian, so don't hesitate to address to us in your native language.

Cool
Is it possible camping during the trail? ( camping i meandros put the tent at night e left early in the mornning)
Hi, Bruno, we did stealth camp several times on this trail, it is possible under conditions you mentioned and camping out of the routes and trails. It can be challenging sometimes because of many private property and grape fields.
Joli
Merci!:)
Via Francigena starts from Canterbury in England to Rome in Italy
Yes, we know that, this is what we state in the beginning of the video. We started walking from Aosta because before we had been hiking the Tour du Mont Blanc.
You can start a walk from any place. Just like the Camino Santiago de Compostela, there are so many different routes.
Ола, чикос!
Отличное видео! Собираемся через пару дней с Тенерифе в Милан и похайкать вокруг. Загуглили ютуб и наткнулись на ваш ролик. Молодцы!
Как атмосфера в Италии сейчас? =)
Hi, thanks for the feedback:) Now we are not in Italy so can't say about the situation there. Hope you will enjoy hiking there anyway!
How many kilos did you have one your backs?
Dima carried a pack of 12kg approximately depending on food supplies and me (Angelina) 6kg
so smiley! anyway it's pronounced "Francheégena"
Hah yes we did learn it later, we loved the Italian language by the way:)
