  • After 100% success on Mt. Everest’s North Side for the Alpenglow Expeditions crew, Adrian and Sam connect in person to recap the season.
The news section covers the New York Times article, For Female Climbers, Dangers Go Beyond Avalanches and Storms, discussing the recent credible accusations of sexual harassment of female climbers by Elite Exped’s Nirmal Purja (Nimsdai).
After touching on season news from the South Side, the two dive into the Alpenglow team's experience on the North Side, including the great fortune they had with crowds, as well as challenges created by weather and their delayed timeline due to permitting.

regarding the icefall-- i watched ryan mitchell's 5 hour vlog/documentary of his climb and i was absolutely mortified by how awful the conditions were at the end of the season in particular. it's actually miraculous that no one died given how absurdly unsafe some sections were.

After listening to Ryan last night in his interview now I know why Adrian of Alpenglow was his best choice.

Bartek and Oswald also climbed skied Annapurna and Dhaulagiri with O2 last year ~ they are as nice and as modest as they are strong!

Super interesting 👌 thx. Cool u shouted out Alan Arnette🎉 I'm a fan of him & his 19yr old client Ryan Mitchell, who posted stunning day by day raw footage of his successful Everest summit & descent w Madison Mountaineering. It's on Ryan's (self-named) yt channel

watched Ryan's channel last night after his interview with a prior Everest Summit eer ( you'll find the interview with a search). So is this where Ryan got the idea for his next Everest venture to attempt to Summit w/o a guide and O2? He told the interviewer since he now knows the route he doesn't need a guide. Right Ryan ! One Summit, and you're the expert and confident you know the way. Sounds far too risky.

@glory5918 I think ur referring to his interview w Alan Arnette. And yes I was devastated when I heard Ryan's new goal. I think it's pure idiocy. But if u listen to Adrian talk in this podcast, he makes it sound like u can't be a pro if u use O2.... so I guess this is who Ryan is listening to. I wholeheartedly concur with YOU.

Interesting, Swiss meteorologists are relied on for weather. advice. The expedition crew doesn't get enough recognition. Hope the Sherpa's & guides were given decent tips.

Sam - please don't drag in other parts of society when discussing the sexual abuse problem in climbing. Of course, it's everywhere but to mention it in this context spreads the problem out and weakens the importance of it here. The laser focus should be on what the climbing community can do about healing itself. True allyship is what Adrian is talking about, and not holding back. Adrian - if you think you haven't been brave yet, I bet you can find ways that bravery of this type is actually on offer if you're willing to lend your voice, and I know that you know what actual bravery is. For activists it happens when something impossible must be done for which there is no other choice but to push forward, even though it might take every molecule of spirit and strength and vinegar and tears to do it.
I've been enjoying DangerStik and appreciate you very much.

China was responsible for climbers switching over to the Nepal side by not allowing entry to the north side until the 2nd week in May!!
