I think it's crazy to see all these Sonic games that were on other consoles, being someone who grew up with the Wii. For context, compared to the Gamecube/PS2 era, the Wii was far less powerful than its rivals, PS3 and Xbox 360. Sonic 06 was supposed to be on all 3, until Sega realized the Wii wasn't powerful enough. So in one of many decisions that led Sonic 06 into being...Sonic 06, Sega split Sonic Team into two groups. One to continue 06, and one to make a new game for the Wii (Secret Rings). Going forward, there would be two home console Sonic game libraries. The Xbox 360/PS3 library (06, Unleashed, Generations, Free Riders on 360 exclusive) and the Wii Library (Secret Rings, a different version of Unleashed, Riders: Zero Gravity, Black Knight, and Colors). If you were a big Sonic fan, you couldn't just have once console for the full experience. You needed two. I only had Wii growing up, but I sometimes wished I could enjoy Generations or primary Unleashed. 24:46 Actually Sonic Generations runs at 31.5fps and SEGA has still not addressed that for some reason, neither by setting it to proper 30 nor 60. A modded Switch can run the game at 60fps docked, but the resolution has to be set to 720p instead of 1080p.

I can't help but wonder if the reason Sonic has so little music in Smash is because of how many of them are vocal songs. These are real people's vocals that they need to get the rights to. Back when it was brand new I played Forces for the first time on switch and then I didn't touch it for 7 years. Don't know if it's just because I'm used to smooth PC gameplay or if my switch was getting old but I tried replaying Forces on that same switch and it felt so terrible

8:06 Technically they were acknowledging it, in fact, the PC version of this very collection "acknowledging" Sonic 3&Kn is the reason why they had to remove it & get the pre-release tracks for Origins in the first place
Sonic Colors Ultimate is my favorite version become of the Ghost Wisp., but they didn't fix the simplest issue, and that's the sound mix. Almost every game in existence has separate sliders to adjust game sound and game music separately. In Colors Ultimate, the slider bar adjusts sound and music together. Someone should have told SEGA the Switch has this feature built-in. It's called VOLUME.

My problem is I got Superstars & Generations x Shadow at the same time. Going from Generations to Superstars makes Sonic feel so slow in Superstars. Sonic should never feel slow.
That’s really suck of how Smash Ultimate treated with Echo Fighters, it was cool idea to have alternate characters for already existing characters. The problem is that they never go all the away with the idea. If they ever do a Smash Bros 6 game, I would like them to go all out with incoming new fighters and Echo fighters. And also adding more Sonic characters like Shadow and Knuckles
I'm guessing because it was probably just a stopgap method to easily bulk out newcomers that fans really wanted when there was a lower amount of non-clone newcomers with "Everyone is here!" in the base game. And even then, they barely added anything different for Daisy, Dark Samus and Richter. At some point you're gonna hit diminishing returns with potential exact clones of characters that are also worth it to include from a fan demand perspective.
I also think that Sonic Frontiers looks great and runs pretty well on the Switch. I still have yet to play it on the PS5, which will be a BETTER version of the game. But, at the time that the game released, it was still very hard for me to get a PS5. But, when I got it for the Switch, it was not that bad. Also, I have yet to play Mario & Sonic at the 2020 Olympic Games. I LOVE the retro looks of the characters that they brought in, so, the next time that game is on sale, I’ll be buying and playing it.
I don't really vibe with Tokyo 2020 Olympics' story mode because it's just waaaaay too diolouge heavy I swear I spent more time reading than actual gameplay
Minecraft sonic on switch had me so excited when it was announced but when I actually got it? The run times were so bad it was actually impossible to run fast and get through an act the intended way. It’s made me so upset that it convinced to purchase Minecraft and the sonic dlc a second time on the ps5 and made me realize that maybe I should stop playing minecraft on the switch. I enjoyed playing through the dlc once it worked on the ps5 but man, that switch experience was not okay.
There is a reason that I, despite being a diehard Nintendo fan, only play Sonic games on PC. They run better and mod support makes them the definitive versions
You do know that it’s been confirmed. There will be an official announcement before the end of March. And also, it’s not really the time sense release that matters it’s more of the year that the console is in. As an example it’s already almost done with its eighth year.
22:11 THANK YOU!!!! I love this game and sometimes it feels like I’m the only one who does! 😂 Only problems I had with Sonic Superstars was the terrible role out of additional customs and region differences in this regards (I don’t want a Kroger account to own the cool cel shading fits) and I felt the OST was just a high 6 low 7 out of 10 which is a big down grade since Sonic OSTs are usually a 9/10 Outside of that Superstars is a blast to play!! I do hate how Sega has decided to work with LRG though… That really disappointed me.
You know in my opinion when it comes to Sonic games if I can go fast or there is some other cool gimmick, though mostly going fast, then I’m good. Well most of the time😅
To be fair, the Sega Ages versions of Sonic 1 and 2 are the best way to play the classic games on the Switch. Sega Genesis Classics have a terrible input lag and Sonic Origins Plus is a different game with more ocntent.
Sonic Origins Plus let's you play in classic mode. Granted there are some still some changes, but if you go into the "not so secret" menu, you can make the games even closer to the originals.
Superstars was SO close to being something special. Finally a sonic with 3d graphics thst has strong level design and physics...but the bosses ruin the whole thing
I found the level designs in Superstar kinda meh. Like it started off pretty good on the first 3rd of the game. But once you get Lagoon City, it gets worst. It has the same problem as Sonic Lost World has where they added alot of gimmicks that sounds cool on paper, but in actuality, it doesn't match up well with the keen thing that makes the series special. Speed & exploration platforming. Too many times it has stop & go moments, camera being to close to Sonic & co. isn't a good idea and the fact each bosses was handled and how there battle didn't help. Also the physics isn't all that great either. It feels janked up. Almost as bad as the Sonic 4 physics. In fact, this game might as well be Sonic 4 Episode 3 cause it borrows some physics from that game.
Sonic speed sim on switch would be straight up impossible, it runs horribly on anything but PC. Even on my Xbox series x and red magic phone that game is jacked
I think Sonic’s spirits in Smash Ultimate are pretty bad in the Spirit Battles department. How do you not have Silver posses Mewtwo and you fight him on Delfino Plaza?!
Idk if never played og colours and was excited to see it return..got it for switch to save money soni could give it to my brother's kids after...it was well after everything was patched and I didn't even bother doing the 2nd zone...so bad lol

@@ctpp64 Legal issues may also be getting in the way. Dragon Quest is WAY more popular in Japan than Sonic, but doesn't receive as much music as the Sonic series
Nice to see Sonic games on the Nintendo Switch. I respect this man for mentioning newgrounds
1:49 Mike pop
Great video. Can you do a ranked video for Mario games in Switch and Kirby Games in Switch please
It’s refreshing to see a Sonic UA-camr who actually likes Colors and doesn’t treat it like it ruined their childhood
Because he's not really a Sonic UA-camr
Thank you! I also thought Sonic Origins was pretty good to jus tthrow on and play casually! I didn't really get all the hate post-bug fixes.
6:51 this is the main reason why I can't bring myself to play any of the Mega Man legacy collections on Nintendo Switch...outside of Zero and ZX. Nearly all of these collections suffer from input lag, and I hate it! And that goes double for the Street Fighter anniversary collection! ...online, anyway
I wanna try out generations on switch! It looks amazing! Also, looking forward to the new racing game
Back when it was brand new I played Forces for the first time on switch and then I didn't touch it for 7 years. Don't know if it's just because I'm used to smooth PC gameplay or if my switch was getting old but I tried replaying Forces on that same switch and it felt so terrible
Not nearly every sonic game, but a healthy portion of nostalgia and info.
Antdude did you know that the sonic franchise is one of my favorites, and I love to see the videos you make about him on your first channel, go sonic go, and you to ant 🐜.
8:06 Technically they were acknowledging it, in fact, the PC version of this very collection "acknowledging" Sonic 3&Kn is the reason why they had to remove it & get the pre-release tracks for Origins in the first place
Mania & Sonic X Shadow Generations are the only Sonic games on Switch or modern multiplatform consoles in general that are worth it.
W/ Origins on switch I get to play Triple Trouble again so I'm happy.
the gulf between the Sega Ages and Sonic Origins rankings was shocking lol. Classic Amy WAS fun though…
Sonic 1’s lag isn’t bad with the Sega Genesis Classics collection but you can really see it with Sonic 2
Yeah, that's probably why it was delisted already.
@@thinkhector I just a psychical copy
Sonic colors ultimate was definitely rough at launch. After the patches though, I'd say it aint that bad. It's still very much sonic colors.
I really like sonic colors ultimate and the hate for it won’t stop me
@@dynamicyouthtube Good. It shouldn't.
Ngl the more i play frontiers, the more it becomes one of my favorite sonic games lol. Which is wild cos im so Nintendo pilled that the fps and low graphics are what i expect 😂 might play the ps5 version this Christmas that'd be fun 😊
Credit to the team for listening to feedback and giving it some great QOL updates. Frontiers isn’t perfect but I would argue that it’s pretty great nowadays (and Cyberspace OST slaps)
@@CrowTRobot Outside Final Horizon and the inability to hold onto the music once you collect it all, I agree...Generations eclipses it by a landslide, though.
Thanks, good video. I just got Sonic Mania. shadow Generations will have to wait as it is a bit more expensive, but looks great.
Ooh how about a video where you rank how each franchise in Smash is treated like you did here for Sonic?
27:01 It’s actually a DLC, Featuring a world and a skin pack
I have sega ages sonic 1 and 2 for £1.20 total and it was definitely worth it, I’d never played either of them for years and only had sonic 1 on my old 360
(21:20) i actually never care about the graphics on the Nintendo switch the only thing that matters is to have a game and have fun with it and I got a lot of game on my switch that are those games with a lot of graphics like dragon ball kakarot sonic frontiers sonic x shadow generations teams sonic racing and…let’s just say that I have almost all the games that have good graphics on a ps5 or an Xbox x/s but I have a damn good time with those games
To reduce the input delay install sonic genesis collection directly to the system memory
Better yet get the expansion pack. Or better yet, get Sonic Origins.
There is a reason SEGA delisted the Classics title. And it's the lag.
The switch version of tsr had the opening animation removed to save space on the cartridge
Balls.
Sonic definitely is a ball
*SPHERICAL!!*
No live and learn in smash and the biolizard fight in Shadow generations is a crime
I like having Sonic on Nintendo so he fit being in the Mario in the Game Central Station way.
How many sonic games are there on nintendo switch
Somic x Shadow Generations is damn near a 10/10
I don't really vibe with Tokyo 2020 Olympics' story mode because it's just waaaaay too diolouge heavy I swear I spent more time reading than actual gameplay
Chat I think Zavok is trying to tell us something
Sonic 2 and Spinball are the only two Sonic games on the Genesis/Mega Drive NSO app.
The Genesis collection has input lag on Steam as well
“Switch’s legacy come to a close” its only been 7 years. I’m pretty sure we won’t have a new console until like maybe 3 years tops
You do know that it’s been confirmed. There will be an official announcement before the end of March. And also, it’s not really the time sense release that matters it’s more of the year that the console is in. As an example it’s already almost done with its eighth year.
Wdym only 7 years? That’s exactly the average console life span
@@rouge939 didn’t the Wii last over a decade though? Besides, as long as games are a still being sold, the console won’t be getting discontinued.
sonic x shadow gens was the cherry on top ngl
Will you talk abt sonic colors re rainbow on this channel
Take this as a yes!
22:11 THANK YOU!!!! I love this game and sometimes it feels like I’m the only one who does! 😂
Only problems I had with Sonic Superstars was the terrible role out of additional customs and region differences in this regards (I don’t want a Kroger account to own the cool cel shading fits) and I felt the OST was just a high 6 low 7 out of 10 which is a big down grade since Sonic OSTs are usually a 9/10
Outside of that Superstars is a blast to play!!
I do hate how Sega has decided to work with LRG though… That really disappointed me.
Again, Mighty and Ray are not lost. They were around. Try the comic
I like Forces
for the character creator alone
3:06 whats crazy is that it was
Wonder how many people will whine that there's an entry here thats ranked lower than Forces?
You know in my opinion when it comes to Sonic games if I can go fast or there is some other cool gimmick, though mostly going fast, then I’m good. Well most of the time😅
Origins they really buggered the music for sonic 3
To be fair, the Sega Ages versions of Sonic 1 and 2 are the best way to play the classic games on the Switch.
Sega Genesis Classics have a terrible input lag and Sonic Origins Plus is a different game with more ocntent.
Sonic Origins Plus let's you play in classic mode. Granted there are some still some changes, but if you go into the "not so secret" menu, you can make the games even closer to the originals.
Let's make Sonic forces' spot in last place a comfy one
I really want Sonic Adventure 1 on my Switch!
Sonic speed sim on switch would be straight up impossible, it runs horribly on anything but PC. Even on my Xbox series x and red magic phone that game is jacked
Random tidbit but the input delay for genesis collection is prominent on every console!! It's still abysmal even on series X.
Amazing vid dude. Once again some amazing content🤩
Also in the Generations part, games don't age dude... If you are gonna be bothered about a 2011 game not being like a 2024 fan then you are not an old-school fan at all!
I own a ps4 and series x but i mostly choose the switch just for the portability
does the gamecube have a sonic game made for the ground up for it that wasn’t a racing game? or am i missing something here. i think the wii was when the sonic fanbase truly merged with nintendo fans, sonic adventure 2 battle on gamecube brought in some ppl too. sonic doesn’t really have a home console now unlike mario, which is fine. sonic doesn’t stay on one platform, he’s too fast! :D
3:10 as someone who’s first Sonic game was forces I can say it does really suck no nostalgia here.
