thanks alot man rly needed that been strugling for days uninstalling games to make space for other game u a life saver
What a guy! This is exactly what I needed help with. Added an SSD to my PC and this helped me understand how partitions work. Appreciate it!
Only thing im confused about is will the save files/shader cashe for games installed on the new ssd still go to/pull from my main ssd since thats where the folders were originally placed (most of my saves are stored in the user folder not in the game file I believe)? And can that cause performance issues?
Thank so much for the perfect quick simple video
so i just bought a new ssd and whiped my old hdd to use it as a secondary drive, I instaled windows, and the drivers on the ssd and instaled a video game on the hdd and the video game is runing mutch slower than it used to ,when i used that hdd as a primary drive. dose this hapen?

It’s taking some of my storage in local disk C and I check my other local disk D and it’s not taking the GB from that one I have SteamLibrary in local disk D but why is it taking the GB from my local disk C instead of local disk D? Is that normal I’m just curious?
this helped so much thanks😄

You bro are an angel. Ive been trying to install Cs2 on my pc but 20% through it said no sufficient space. I then searched on yt and you popped up. God bless you 🙏
im on the newest version of steam and it dose not allow me to chose which drive
Dude thank you, I was going to install Stardew Valley but my main drive is nearly full. I didn't look carefully at the set up. I clicked on "options" and it said choose where to install, thank you!!
How do you do it on ea games because it does not work for me!
i just installed a new hdd in my pc, it shows in this pc, it is formated, online, etc, but it doesnt show me that i can install on it from steam
I want with riot i want to download valor ant but on main i have only 30 gb Wich isnt enough
I'm trying to install epic games launcher and it keeps trying to download to my C drive what do I do?
i have installed on the hard drive but it say that in need to install but when i tried it it says that its already installed
I have a problem where I downloaded Fortnite on my external harddrive with no problem but when i disconnected the external harddrive, realizing It was making my computer way slower. It wouldnt let me redownload the EPIC games installer on my C: drive because it was looking for my external harddrive. I am writing this comment because I'm wondering if you guys know any fixes to this please reply and thank you.
when i download something on another drive for steam it keeps filling up the c drive what do i do?
when i put something to download on my ssd right before it finishes it pauses and when i preww resume it goes from the begining
if i have 1 tb of primary storage and get a 4 tb of secondary device. does that mean i have 5 TB to store games and other stuff? or is it only one, i get the hang of it but im still a bit confused. can you help me out?
Hey man sorry for the late response. First thing to know is that part of the 1TB of the main drive will and can have programs installed on it to use up some of it's space. 1TB is a decent sized hard drive. You also have the 4TB for storage and installing other programs or REALLY big games on it if needed. I hope this helps!
thank you i was doing this for 2 hours
thanks man. I always hated that I had so little GB and couldn't play newer games with higher GB but now I can do it thanks man
Whenever i try to put it into a different file location it resumes and dosent let me put it anywhere
Best explanation ever
I install my games on a ssd but somehow my games run slower than on a hhd, could there be something wrong with my hard drive? Graphics card is no problem because i got a 4080
Hey man. Definitely sounds like something is wrong. Is this an internal or external SSD drive?
Is dose not give me the option to do that for some reason
how to run a game and save it in external hdd hard drive
Will this work downloading Elite Dangerous? (the original Frontier version not the Steam/Epic version)
I have never played those tbh but theoretically yes, you should be able to choose an install path to the secondary drive
I have one question, on steam I've already downloaded a game but it needs to update, but there's no option to download it in a different file. Please someone let me know how to fix this.
Once a game is installed on the main drive you can't move it. Only way is to completely uninstall the game and then re-install and then specify the secondary hard drive.
I plan on having 2 separate ssd's, one for OS, and the other for my games. Should i then install all my programs (firefox, spotify, steam, epic games, blizzard) on the OS drive or on the Games drive?
I would recommend all of those base programs on the C:/ main OS drive and just the big games on the secondary drive.
Question here.
So I got a new Predator secondary hard drive with 1TB of space. So the thing is that when I install a game or any program, the game or program sometimes frozes, or doesn’t do anything.
I reinstalled and verified the installation of the games multiple times and nothing. Sometimes I got an error saying that some files are corrupt. What should I do?
I did this but when I hit play the game looks like it trys to open but it does not open games if i try to open games on my older drive it works fine
Hrmm that is very interesting. Does it do this for all of your games, or just one? If it's more than one, are they all from the same launcher?
Woww thanks man. You are the MAN. 😎
how much slower would it run on an external harddrive? Most places I've looked indicate little to no difference, beside surely the original harddrive has an impact compared to external, which could be better or in the case I'm thinking a 500GB HDD in my laptop over a 1TB SSD which I would start using as an external harddrive
It's been a long time since I have looked into it but I never would install games on an external hard drive. Can cause issues with updates, running slower, and etc. For the speeds it's all about the bus speeds. The faster the bus speeds the faster the communication. Internal connections are typically faster than external connections. They did have Esata for awhile which was fast. But, I'd still only use internal drives for stability and etc.
Actually Thankyou so much I thought I was gonna be stuck without enough space
Thank you just got a brand new gaming laptop and it was slower then the one I got 15 years ago cause my C drive was full thanks!
Okay but do I have to manually setup new file folders? Or are they automatically created? Where do the save files go on the secondary drive? Or will they save on my boot drive? If I'm playing games and want to save progress or make multiple save files do they go on my main drive? Or game drive?
When I install steam does it go on the main drive and will all the games go on the second drive? And do the game saves go on the second drive? Can someone clear this up for me
Do I install these game launchers steam, epic games, riot games, on the main drive and then setup secondary drive?
Yeah so the game launchers install on the main C:/ and then when you go to install the games from the installer select your secondary drive :)
this video is very useful but 1 question, when i download things to my secondary storage (D) the game starts downloading fine, fully downloads and then when i go to launch the game (any game or app downloaded on the (D) one) it js doesnt launch
Very informative video, I am curious as to PC games on disk, windows 11 won’t give install location option, well, not that I can see.
Depends on the game. Most disc installs give you an "advanced" options somewhere during the install where you can specify the install location though.
Now i got a game that the installer even gives me options just like steam and epic to choose the drive i install it in. Problem is, when i start the game it needs to install extra data, but instead of the drive i chose in the first place to install the game, it takes up the C drive and i run out of space and the install stops and i can't do nothing but uninstall it back to get my c drive space back. and what is also weird is , it says i only needed like 8 gigs of space to install the extra data. what boggles my mind is, if it needs 8 gigs, even if i choose my c drive, i would still have more than enough space for it, but instead it takes like double the storage and still that wasn't enough space!!! Is there anything i can do to fix that?
that can be a tricky situation. you might need to contact support from the developer and see if they have any option or way to change the path for the updated data.
@BTHDreamer thanks for the reply, I have actually found a way to get it to work in my favor. It involves digging through the cdrive that starts installing the game's data into (I had to stop the download midway). And move it to the drive I wanted and redirect the install to where I moved it to by using pc command.
@kheatshadows nice good work!! It's too bad they don't make it easier and more straight forward sometimes. But I'm glad you got it worked out!
Thank you so much
Man U saved me omg thank you
so this didnt solve the issue im having after moving these over i cant run fortnite bc a outdated graphics card i am running nvidia and i moved all program files and program files(x86) folders and there content over to the newer drive hoping that to fix the issue i even went to chrome and into its settings and changed the download folder to the main page of the new drive and it wont run from that drive it wants to like you said pull from the C: drive and says that "insufficient storage" in which im already aware and is why im trying to move it to the other drive to allocate space on that drive this is my one and only issue im having is not being able to move nvidia over or should i instead clear space by moving all my games to the newer driver via copy paste then delete them off the main and then try again to update it bc i feel the main system files that help run the computer or have anything to do with the main functioning of the computer all have to remain on solid state drive like you were saying which in my opinion makes sense i am just new and unaware in this spectrum ngl
Yo Luca. Ok so you definitely don't want to manually move any folders from the C:/ to the new drive. What letter is the new drive? You have to uninstall the game from the current C:/ if it's currently installed there. Then after removing you need to install it fresh to the designated path on the new drive. I recommend making a new folder on the secondary drive and putting that in for the new path.
I’m new to the pc world so can u explain how do I move existing games to my d drive (my c drive is in disk 0 and my d drive is in disk 1-idk if that matters) I barely have anything downloaded and it’s almost filled and that makes it impossible for me to update my GeForce. Plz make a vid solving this problem
Unfortunately you can't move currently installed games to another drive. You'd have to uninstall the games and then re-install them on the secondary drive.
@@BTHDreamer thanks for answering! Also one more question if it won't bother you; can i uninstall and reinstall purchased games into another drive. Like for example, I have overwatch and minecraft installed but they cost money (of course) so can i uninstall and reinstall into another drive or would it cost money. If yes, do i uninstall through settings or the launchers. Again thank you for ur helpful comments and videos keep at it.
@@jasonronald7759 For sure! Once you purchase the games you can re-download them at anytime. So you should be able to uninstall and re-install them w/o any issues. Just be sure that you pay close attention to when and where it asks you to install the game. Sometimes it's quite discrete.
thankyou so much
When I do that my pc starts acting weird, I wanted to install gta v and the game wont install and it like freezes and I cant close the installer, if I manage to it wont get back in it, hell sometimes my whole widows aint responding and I dont know why, I cant install big games on there and I have no idea why.
Hrmmm not sure tbh. Could be a hard drive that isn't working 100%. Also, is the hard drive internal or external?
@@BTHDreamer The Pc is like about 2 months old and I got an external hard drive to install games on it since the internal one is like only 300 gb, thing is when I install games in my internal hard drive is all good, the problem is when I try to just install a game on the external one from steam, ubisoft, rockstar launcher etc it just freezes, cant exit the installing app and cant even turn off my pc if I dont pull the plug on it which I dont want to do.
@@cosmingurgu1730 ahhhh ok. It's most likely due to the fact that it's an external drive. You would only want to use a secondary internal hard drive for running programs and externals only for data saving/backups
It does give that option on steam pls help
dude i've been trying to figure this out for AGES since my pc is dying. One thing though, is there a way to move programs to a hard drive
Glad to be of help dude! You can't move programs unfortunately. They have to be re-installed.
How do you install games on a D: drive on the xbox app?
Sup man. Not entirely sure as I haven't used the XBOX app in a minute. But, theoretically you should be able to find a setting somewhere during or before install to choose your install destination.
But when i remove and plug my external hdd when i wanna play, the game doesn't pop up in quick launch in epic, it asks to install when i click it, it verifies the game then the game is added to quick launch any solution BTH?
Yo. I never recommend to install games on an external hard drive. Only internal secondary hard drives.
Is it possible to transfer an already downloaded program to a secondary hard drive? I have a version of Sketchup that I like on an older laptop. I would like that version on a secondary drive instead of downloading their current version.
Once a game is installed it can't be moved. It will have to be uninstalled and then re-installed with the newly specified location.
thank you !!!
can import from files already downloaded i mean can i import in this launcher?
I'm honestly not 100% sure but I don't think so. I think you need to re-install on the needed hard drive.
Thx bro
For instructions on how to do this with the XBOX app then watch this video here, ua-cam.com/video/jxmHrCPXaaY/v-deo.html
If you could give a quick comment to answer my question, why is it that when I go to my second driver “DATA”
And I click Genshin impact each time it say would you like this to make changes on your computer
Why doesn’t my game just open and play since I’ve done that before
