So glad Marty Kove was generous enough to state the truth and give credit to Billy for his Emmy worthy performance as Johnny Lawrence last season. He really took an iconic character to a new place and added a depth a lot of us didn't know was there.
I just loved how they paralleled the flashbacks from the first film to the present time. The editing I have to say was done so well. You feel like you can hear the past echoing to the present which made season 1 so special. I will say in the very first scene from the second trailer for season 2 of Cobra Kai Kreese was just a beast when he knocked Johnny Lawrence to the ground. I hope we get to see a fleshed out backstory to John Kreese especially for the flashbacks. Seeing a younger actor in the role of Kreese in the Flashbacks should be interesting. It will be nice to how he became this tough, strict sensei during the flashbacks.
It's different when you actually grow up with it, though. When it was born, so to speak, living in the same era that it came from, gaining a following, and the real-world effects that the movie had on society (such as the explosion of Karate dojos all over California). You came in way after the hysteria started to settle, and after that era (the magical 80s) had ended.

I loved the original watched it when I was 8 always loved it got the music from the film the way this has been put together is great especially when they put footage from the old one with it

You can speculate how things can merge in many ways. One big advantage of Chan - he has never gone into teenage drama genre and I am not aware of him kissing anyone on camera.... It's like how home alone 1 and two were good, but then other sequels came and it lost it's edge. I think Allie coming back would be great though. Makes me wonder if Tory could end up being the daughter of allie or niece or something which gets allie back at some point.
