As a history nerd I love the Scharnhorst. Since I read my first naval history books the Scharnhorst was always my more beloved of the terrible sister, don’t know why. The Gneisenau stayed far somehow. Maybe it was a story about its Captain at time: Kurt Cäsar Hoffmann. He was her captain from the start 1939 until 1942. he played „tip and run“ with a battleship protecting a convoy. Therefore I had to get this ship, and yes the Camouflage has a nice tone to it, for the great raider she was. With the 43 I could manage a for me very high WR of 65% with >60k average damage. Very good fun and it looks nice. Just be very cautious with any ships with massively bigger guns ;-) Despite real life, my Scharnhorst fears no Duke of York, at least not in bright daylight.
Nice been waiting for your take on this. The strange think the scharnhorst in her refit. Did increase air defense and secondaries where upgraded slightly. Also they should have gave it the secondary overload instead of the torpedo reduction. It isn't much of a improvement. Pc the the 43 is way better then the original. She got a speed boost and faster secondaries in pc. Love we have the cool camo and like the 43. But they let me down just a bit.
Yeah, I was kinda hoping for AA, too. T7 can be a bit awkward, especially for battlecruisers, but on the other hand, it would have been to be a major bump, which doesn't really fit the German style. I think if they had given her two fuel smokes instead of one, or improved secondaries, it would have gotten her on par with the tech tree competitor. Still, not a bad ship.
@@FunandGameswithTerry agree it is a fun ship. But yeah wanted that secondary skill like her sister. Also that camo is similar to a paint scheme she had for a short time.
This ship definitely feels like the ship that can brawl even more than the original could, especially since it gets two secondary overload ll,s. I will admit, I feel like this ship should have 1 extra fuel smoke, 1 really isn’t enough in my opinion, but I could be wrong though. Edit: this ship is also a great pairing if you have Duke of york as well
The advantages of these special ships is that you can move your 12 point “gold medal” captains up and down the tiers without being penalised. That offsets entirely any other deficiencies I would say. A good captain for the PEF is a good captain for this Scharnhorst and GK, black Gascogne or Bourgogne etc. If you are grinding a specific line all well and good. I’ll have a look at the Heinrich again but the stats, for me, speak for themselves 18 games for 83% win rate and average damage of 60,000 with a high of 95,000 and mvp rate of 33% and I would class myself as a very average player 🙂 thanks for the video!!
To be honest, I never thought the original Scharnhorst needs much “fixing” in the first place, more AA would be nice on the ‘43 and a second smoke, just like the original could have done with two rather than one secondary overload. But then the Odin also only gets one SO at t8. When played right, this ship can be absolutely devastating. But if you stay at range and shoot with your main guns like I see a lot of BB players do, you’re not going to get very far. The key is patience. You have to be patient and look for opportunities, and when you see ships that are unsupported or out of position you punish them for it. Against BBs you should ideally stay concealed as long as possible so you can use your speed to get inside secondary and torpedo range quickly, and target bow and stern sections or the superstructure. With the speed and manoeuvrability, I’ve run rings around a California and sunk it without taking more than a couple of hits from its mains 😂. Against cruisers and DDs, those 283mm guns don’t tend to over penetrate either. So it’s much like the German BC line, but better armoured (the CIC stats suggest it has the same belt and deck armour thickness as Bismarck, much better than the Heinrich, but like the Odin your HP pool means you have to be more careful) so you can do a bit of tanking when necessary. And you are nearly 3kts faster with better manoeuvrability. I hadn’t played this ship in a long time as I’ve been grinding other BB and cruiser lines, but when I heard the ‘43 version was being released I started playing it again. With a few years more experience playing other ship classes, if anything I get better results with it than before. I’m genuinely surprised at the number of 80k+ or even 100k+ games I’ve in the last few weeks with it. I play on the EU server where there is less camping at range though, so that may have something to do with it too.
I got the regular Scharnhorst, and she definitely needs a buff. She has the role of a Battlecruiser before the Battlecruiser line existed. Too bad I spent my money on Wowoniang now I can't get this beast 😅
@FunandGameswithTerry I really enjoyed the german battle cruiser line, the Zieten was a dark horse. I really didn't think I'd like it, but damn that was a fun little ship. The scharnhorst still holds up if you play her for sure. You can't just jump into the middle. Be a hunter killer, avoid battleships, good to go, lol. It's still a great ship to me.
Scharnhorst was one of the first premiums i bought in this game so is it worth getting this new version of it? would love to hear ur opinion on this Terry gg good game play
I only engage bb if I have my torps up. Otherwise hide and look for a dd or cruiser. 1.Get into secondary range 2.open with first torp launch while hammering with secondary turning after the torp launch to use the next launcher. 3. turn the nose to match the target put on secondary skill and launch the second torp. 4 immediately turn away while keeping out of crossfire and dodging broadside by only showing port or stern if you can. The torp spread should make them focus more on position than aiming. This works with most battle cruisers but requires one with a good traverse to pull off well. Important to get a few torps into the BB if you miss withdrawal. Otherwise find an island and hide behind it. Works for most battle cruisers Target should either withdrawal or die.
I haven't played Leipzig in forever, but from memory, it's basically a rapid reload Nürnberg, albeit without sonar. Karl von Schönberg is a revival of the original 150mm armed DDs, and basically a small cruiser. All three are good ships, the '43 version of the Scharnhorst is better than the original, but not by a massive margin, and still falls short of the Prinz Heinrich imo. I'd personally probably get one of the other two, if you already have Scharnhorst, but that's a matter of preference - you'll have to like light cruiser play ;)
Hai Terry... I love your gameplay videos when i playing wows Blitz.. but now im not again play wows Blitz.. Can you play world of warship legends?? Because im play wows legends and i want watch your ☺️
I hate this thing. 11:05 "They were meant to outgun heavy cruisers..." This holds up in game VERY well, as my Brooklyn gets shot out of the water immediately. I will admit, however, that I suck.
If you're in a Brooklyn, keep your distance. 9km at least keeps you out of secondary range. Sail away, manoeuvre to evade the main guns - she can't hit you at this range - and burn it down.

Thanks for video, got Scharnhorst before couple days with Graf Spee in Blitz Pass, so now can sail with this historical ship as video help a lot

I got 5 kills my first time using it, I never do that unless it's a good carrier
Good gameplay Sharnhorst 43 has good performance Terry
Thank you for the review terry truly did need this 🙌

This ship is an absolute monster in Respawn thanks to the smoke and the auto-secondaries.

Was waiting on this review since its the free premium, played it, but i dont know if i like the regular one more or not.
I think it's somewhat superior to the OG Scharnhorst, for me, she sits in the middle between her and Prinz Heinrich
