Back in the day, I used to walk around the city (Manhattan) at night, just soaking in the city. While I was walking one weekend, I saw a few of these cams set up, but I didn't know they were for this video until I saw the "Pop Up Video" about it. If you slow it down you can probably see my dumb face looking into the cameras.
In the year 2024, and the music of today does not even scratch the surface when it comes to the 90s era of music. 90s era of music was the best of all genres hands down. Absolutely. It doesn't help that it came out at Christmas, one of the happiest times of a child's life. I used to listen a few years after it came out as a teen and my stomach would literally drop with nostalgia

The strings during the intro is just so beautiful, it will always give me goosebumps. It takes me back to Christmas, being a child and carefree. I will ALWAYS love the Spice Girls ❤
Wow, its so cool that people are still listening this song. Brings back my teenage memories. I would secretly steal my sisters spice girls CD to listen to this song. As I would be made fun of..cuase i was only into thrash and heavy metal. Lol.😅😅. Good ol' innocent years. Now i am 40. Lol..
@biancastratford Hahaha, how did you know? 😆 I actually listen to their song out loud now. Also, i stole them to listen to their song but I would secretly put it back so my sis would never notice. Lol
I have never had an emotional reaction as strong as I had to this. I remember the first time I saw the video and heard the song, just before Christmas, one of the best times of my life. Then when I rewatched it in 2001 after taping a 90s show, my stomach dropped, it really did. I could feel exactly how I felt then. I was clearly feeling the happiest days of my life
I don't get emotional but I miss those days so bad. I was about 15 and those were some of the best days ever. This world has turned to shit now it seems

I’m 29 turning 30 in 6 months. I’m really nostalgic. Lately I’ve been being emotional about letting my youth go, probably coz I’m turning 30 soon. I’m in denial about getting older and it hurts. And listening to songs like this make it worse. Songs like these are blankets to my soul. I just want to wrap myself in it, close my eyes and go back to being a kid. I was happier as a kid, more blissful, and ignorant in the best way possible. Does anyone else relate?
You are not old dear….society makes you feel like 30 is old….live life darling….embrace this age and cultivate your happiness….it’s within you…. I can somehow relate cos Reminiscing to old songs brings good memories and reminds me of the memories I had with my mom… and she’s no longer on earth…..🥺🥺 but dear don’t feel old….embrace it

Yes!!!! A thousand times, yes!! Also 29. I’ve been having weird nostalgia bursts searching for old music videos here since the past year. I can’t believe time went by just like that. I wish I could’ve done more or could’ve been more. Physically I’m here but mentally, I’m listening to Spice Girls on cassette and sipping on my favorite chocolate drink. 🥲
I know this has been said like a million times, but the saying "UA-cam is the closest thing is the closest thing we have to a time machine", couldn't be anymore true. I wanna go back to my childhood where I can just listen to this song on a stereo, radio or Walkman and not worry or care about anything else in the world 💜
With how things are anymore and because of how great music WAS like this and much more, it couldn't be more true! I was one of those Walkman carrying people then! Miss all this so much and thank God we still have all this on here!
Gosh the strings in this music! 😍 & Posh was so majestic in this video! This song was played on repeat when I was in the 7th grade. It’s so beautiful 💙🩵🩵
Being a kid, I knew exactly what this song was about. The fact that the spice girls wrote their music and did a song like this makes me love them even more!
And the old Americans miss the 60's with the beautiful classic cars and Elvis but that's the way it is. If you ask the young ones now after 20 years how it was during 2020 they'll say it was amazing cause everyone loves their childhood no matter dark times or not except maybe during the World Wars.
@Lachry Matory You're right but its pathetic for us not for them. One day in the distant future they'll say: "I was fighting for LGBT community and earned rights and it was great". That's their way of thinking and they're proud with it!
Listening to this song 25 years later puts a lump in my throat and tears that sting my eyes with thoughts of those days and how much I miss them and the people during that time period
Reminds me of my last year at school on the bus home from london listening to this on my walkman. Had loads of friends, my parents were both alive i lived at home had my whole life ahead of me. Them years have gone, im 40 now.. choose wisely kids.
I personally think this is one of the best music videos ever. Yes it's not that 'advanced' technically, but it's very memorable and calming. You never forget it when you've seen it once.
You're right. These women are beautiful. Their voices make me melt. Wish a fine, intelligent lady that's into Yoga and surfing would sing this to me! ALOHA!
Nobody wants to admit the Girls had more talent they were given credit for. The harmonies blend in seamlessly. Ballads are a good indicator of an artist, and I'd say they pass with flying colors. Nowadays you could go months on the radio and not find something this romantic. Today's music is more about who can shock the most.
I'm 68 now. Was 40 in 97 when my daughter was born. This song is so beautiful and reminds me so much of the good times. I am still listening to this song in 2024❤❤
Lyrics: Candlelight and soul forever A dream of you and me together Say you believe it, say you believe it Free your mind of doubt and danger Be for real, don't be a stranger We can achieve it, we can achieve it Come a little bit closer baby Get it on, get it on 'Cause tonight is the night when two become one I need some love like I've never needed love before (wanna make love to ya', baby) I had a little love, now I'm back for more (wanna make love to ya', baby) Set your spirit free It's the only way to be Silly games that you were playing Empty words we both were saying Let's work it out boy, let's work it out boy Once again if we endeavour Love will bring us back together Take it or leave it, take it or leave it Are you as good as I remember, baby? Get it on, get it on 'Cause tonight is the night when two become one I need some love like I've never needed love before (wanna make love to ya', baby) I had a little love, now I'm back for more (wanna make love to ya', baby) Set your spirit free It's the only way to be Be a little bit wiser baby Put it on, put it on 'Cause tonight is the night when two become one I need some love like I've never needed love before (wanna make love to ya', baby) I had a little love, now I'm back for more (wanna make love to ya', baby) I need some love like I've never needed love before (wanna make love to ya', baby) I had a little love, now I'm back for more (wanna make love to ya', baby) Set your spirit free It's the only way to be It's the only way to be It's the only way to be
Baby Spice hits the notes absolutely perfectly in this one. Not many that she did but she nailed it here. Great song and will remain a great song. Time doesnt erode songs like this, quite the opposite.
No matter if 25 years have passed from this song came out. I loved it on my teenage and now even if I'm a metalhead I still love it. Spice Girls were something awesome.
My favourite spice girls song by far! I love them all so so much but the melody, sound, lyrics and just everything about this song is so soothing and pure!
45 year old dude fan of the 80's music, MTV 90's alternative, and I still love these girls!! one of the good things about being lucky enough to grow older is this, when it stops to matter what people think. Fuck yeah this is a banger and these girls were amazing!!
It must have been love by Roxette may be the most Christmassy song because Per Gessle took a Swedish Christmas song and turned it into the classic hit it became, since they gave him only 2 weeks to come up with a new song so he didn't have time to come up with something completely from scratch.
I'm also 34, and also a DJ, Every time I play Spice Girls in my sets I get a huge reaction from the Crowd. Specifically: 'Stop' and 'Say you'll be there' are the Spice Girls drunken party bangers. This information is valuable use it accordingly. :D
Even though I didn't _really_ grow up with this song, listening to it still makes me feel as if I did, and a wave of nostalgia washes over me whenever I do. There's just this mystical aura about it that's unexplainably cathartic. Makes me so glad that I grew up during the entire 90s era when everything was much simpler. Being young, innocent, and carefree; that's what this song embodies for me

Being a kid, I knew exactly what this song was about. The fact that the spice girls wrote their music and did a song like this makes me love them even more!
They have a joint credit for writing their songs with their producers. It makes me supsecius of how much they actually had to do with writing them.
This song and video aesthetically pleasing, make me miss how nostalgic and eclectic the 90’s were.
That's their way of thinking and they're proud with it!

this song is proof that a song about sex can be classy
Heck you could interpret it as just becoming girlfriend/boyfriend
This, and Afternoon Delight are both living proof of that. Ha ha ha.
@@witherblaze not when Emma says "Be a little bit wiser baby. Put it on...put it on" that cements this song as a sex song.

It's a very good video, even by 2022 standards. Song is pretty good also.
You're right. These women are beautiful. Their voices make me melt. Wish a fine, intelligent lady that's into Yoga and surfing would sing this to me! ALOHA!
They had a small budget but they made it work. I love their fashion and the suede knee high boots
Its the best!!!!
In my top 10 favorite music videos!
Damn right
Spises are the best EVER!!!
The biggest phenomenon since The Beatles!!

This is the Spice Girl song I don't get tired of listening to.
Why am I here? Simple.......Because I was born in 1984 and I understand this music 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Lyrics:
Candlelight and soul forever
A dream of you and me together
Say you believe it, say you believe it
Free your mind of doubt and danger
Be for real, don't be a stranger
We can achieve it, we can achieve it
Come a little bit closer baby
Get it on, get it on
'Cause tonight is the night when two become one
I need some love like I've never needed love before (wanna make love to ya', baby)
I had a little love, now I'm back for more (wanna make love to ya', baby)
Set your spirit free
It's the only way to be
Silly games that you were playing
Empty words we both were saying
Let's work it out boy, let's work it out boy
Once again if we endeavour
Love will bring us back together
Take it or leave it, take it or leave it
Are you as good as I remember, baby?
Get it on, get it on
'Cause tonight is the night when two become one
I need some love like I've never needed love before (wanna make love to ya', baby)
I had a little love, now I'm back for more (wanna make love to ya', baby)
Set your spirit free
It's the only way to be
Be a little bit wiser baby
Put it on, put it on
'Cause tonight is the night when two become one

Baby Spice hits the notes absolutely perfectly in this one. Not many that she did but she nailed it here. Great song and will remain a great song. Time doesnt erode songs like this, quite the opposite.
She actually is a very important part of many spice girls songs. And highly underrated. She's absolutely amazing on If You Wanna Have Some Fun.

The best Christmassy non-Chistmassy song.
Never thought of that, sounds like something you’d hear on a snowy winter’s night
It must have been love by Roxette may be the most Christmassy song because Per Gessle took a Swedish Christmas song and turned it into the classic hit it became, since they gave him only 2 weeks to come up with a new song so he didn't have time to come up with something completely from scratch.
