- During his tour of Belgium in 1959, Patrice Lumumba, the then leader of the Congolese National Movement (MNC) was interviewed by Belgian journalist Raoul Goulard. In the interview, Mr. Lumumba laid out the objectives of his party as well as the plans they had for an independent Congo. Here is an English version of the interview.

Lumumba was a man of a vision but he just exposed his real objectives to his enemy too early which made the enemy to act quickly
It had nothing to do with what he could have said or what he couldn’t say, in the minds of colonists, if you revisit history, Congo was never meant to be free as it was designed to remain a private business for all the 13 colonists including the United States, this is why during the Berlin Conference after the partition of Africa Congo was not given to any particular colonists, nothing was acceptable except submission to this original plan. Lumumba dir what every leader should have done given the circumstances, he had to make sure the world knows what’s happening.

Thank you for this posting, amazing and great quality video of one of the greatest political and courageous man of all time, Patrice Lumumba, this Congolese man who was not afraid of asking for the freedom his people deserved even though he had to give his life for it and he never backed down and accepted to be tortured to death as a panafricanist who dreamed of the real independence for Africa from imperialists.

Hélas la garantie donnée aux occidentaux n'était pas suffisante sinon tu aurais survécu. Tu avais une vraie vision . Je la perçois à travers cette interview. Le blanc aussi l'avait perçue. Il t'a éliminé pour cela. Pourtant tu serais toujours vivant (dans notre esprit), si dans les zones des radios africaines tes discours passais tous les jours avant le grand journal .
