- It’s pretty hard to describe anything from Burning Man without using phrases, sounding pathetic or cheesy.
So maybe I shouldn’t try. Or I just don’t care about it?
Pablo asked for a little intro about my set in the tie-up night with Robot Heart when I played the Mayan Warrior art car, so here we go:
Every night, when the Mayan Warrior art car leaves its camp on it’s way to the deep playa it feels pretty sublime, like a wake up call for the rave kids with this drum beats, like a ritual where they follow it’s spiritual leader, the warrior dancer follow their flagship art car, it’s getting more and more crowded, surrounded by hundreds of bikes and of course I’m super nervous entering this elevated Dj booth, shaking from the bass or is it just me? And from one moment to another I am in the middle of lasers and fire, I am taking over the booth and after a second I’ve forgotten every fear and just start playing...

You know what? I know your comment is eight months old but this just found me too. I have a record and can't find a job... depressed. I stumbled on this and it blew me away. I have a small travel trailer in storage and I want to go to Burning Man in 2024 when all my shit is over. This brought me to life. Damn.

I remember being on the playa and following the Mayan Warrior as it met up with Robot Heart. My and my buddies are right there in this crowd, not far from the artcar. Magnificent and breath taking with lucy.

So all those words are nice and all but what is the actual genre that she is playing? Trying to describe it to friends and I’m like “it’s kinda like Progressive House but a little more trippy?”

So I’m in the Bay Area for a few weeks and just got done seeing Nick Warren. I was looking at the upcoming landscape of people playing and I was getting very despondent. Then on a chance, I looked up this Mira person who’s playing Public Works and what do I find? Someone who’s playing some of the sickest deep house I’ve ever heard. Guess that settles it. Consider me a fan.

So I’ve gone back and listened to that Who Made Who set and I gotta say… it’s good but believe me when i say that kind of set is not for everyone. Sometimes people just want to groove out. That WMW set is a little…. artsy for my liking. But hey, to each their own.
