YES! I work for the Chicago Transit Authority! I repair these exact buses!
Obecny75 👍
Cool
Lucky I actually want to work for the TTC in Toronto so maybe I might learn from this
Same here I'm a opperator from NorthPark garage
Obecny75 that’s cool
This is actually a pretty good simulation of the buses in Chicago. The Ventra card scanner, the annunciator was spot on, and even the noises when going over bumps.
Squirrel I love your attention to detail man. As a streamer that streams very similar games I hate to admit your my go-to guy for all of my info. I REALLY appreciate the in-depth and careful way you show us these games. Thanks man.
You're very welcome, and sorry for the late reply :)

+Squirrel Thank you for introducing this game to me, you inspired me to buy it. It's great! Thank you for showing me the game. I play it everyday.

In America, you have to stop at a stop sign no matter what, there isnt a situation where you can just roll through it.
Jacob Banerjee ha! CTA laughs at you
Anywhere in the world where there are stop signs you have to stop 🛑 .
Yeah but tell me why everyone still does the California Slide (when people role through the stop sign.
@@thevontelproject Interesting, ive heard it called a Rolling Stop only lol
Though a rolling stop has to be under 4-5 km/h (whatever the hell that is in mph).
That was shockingly accurate! I have visited Chicago almost every year and that route shocked me by how real it looks! Good job to the devs and squirrel for showing this map
i haven't been to chicago in my life
I've ridden CTA buses all my life, it's interesting to see how they actually work.
i haven't ridden transit in houston or chciago or been to chicago
It's incredible how accurate the bus is, the card sound (Ventra Card) is exactly the same, bus exactly the same, and the part of the museums and planetarium and aquarium is exactly the same, amazed by it, I'm from Mexico and I have gone to Chicago, and by the way you need to stop at every stop sign even if there's no traffic or pedestrians coming
D60LF
If you see a red octagonal stop sign, you are supposed to come to a complete stop even if there is no other traffic. Somebody already mentioned the rules already (whoever reaches it first has right of way; if the timing is equal the auto to your right has the right of way) but the reality is that at 54:45 it's just as much of a clusterfrack as you experienced LOL.
At 55:35 you were supposed to stop because of the red sign, but you instead rolled through it.... I'm from California and we call that a "California Roll (Sushi Joke)"
Great video and I'm amazed at how detailed it is!!!
randomUA-camR Interesting how in the UK you don't have to give way to pedestrians at intersections.. I'll have to remember that if I ever go back so I don't get run over :-)
randomUA-camR You can make them give way, if you do make sure you say thanks with your hand.
randomUA-camR Unfortunately rolling stops at Stop signs happen everywhere, I usually just come to a complete stop for about half a second if it's completely free as I don't want to develop that habit (that bus drivers and taxi drivers are bad for). In fact, at my local shopping centre there's a stretch of road that would ordinarily be 50 km/h (30 mph) but the sign (that's really hard to spot) says 20 km/h (10 mph), but buses NEVER obey that, they do easily double that, but the law is the law
Are the buses Orion VII like we have in Toronto
I always use "load whole map at start" option and it works really well. There is also a 4gb patch for OMSI which lets it use up to 4 GB of RAM on 64 bit systems instead of default 2 GB.
where ?
depends if ur PC or laptop can handle it
did you notice the sandwich advert said 55 inch?
The buses you've used in Chicago are replicas of New Flyer Industries buses, who are a Canadian bus manufacturer. These are the heavily used New Flyer D40LF and New Flyer D60LF types. The newest New Flyer buses are called Xcelsior. Gillig is the other major bus manufacturer we have in the US.
For some reason, I keep coming back to these OMSI videos from you, Paul. I have probably watched each video over 10 times. They are very relaxing, especially when I am feeling a little down or ill, thanks to your interesting commentary and technical comments on the gameplay. Remember to always look to the future and enjoy the present, but reminisce the past once in a while too! Thanks for all the great content :)
Amen, bro! I can relate.
Not enough potholes and not enough traffic.
You can actually add more traffic in the game settings.
@@justidontknow9306 Yes, but not enough potholes
@@smartrubberchicken True, it's unfortunate an issue with many add-ons, for example, Berlin X10. The roads are just way too smooth.
@@justidontknow9306 cirienxsid
Potholes and stupid pedestrians 🚶🏽♀️. 😂

Thanks for this upload, Squirrel.
I've been anticipating hands-on impressions for this DLC. Looks pretty great, all told. I think I'm going to pick it up myself.
Also appreciate you going through the startup procedures in your OMSI videos as well.
I live in the Chicago Suburbs and go to Chicago every day. That is suprisingly accurate. Also, you have to stop at every stop sign and fully. Whoever gets there first goes first or if you get there at the sametime, person on your right may go. I love watching your Train Sim World videos because I have it and I really love trains as you can tell by my profile when you tap my photo. Great video. I watch them when doing Scenarios.
I ride the 124 from time to time and have ridden the route you are driving. I have to say it is pretty accurate from what I have seen so far.
The traffic blocking the intersections is normal during rush hour.
As a Chicago native and someone living in Chicago, I can say this is a pretty realistic rendition, especially of the Eisenhower expressway going into the city. However, Ogilvie is was more of a train station than a bus station because it serves our local commuter train. Interesting to see someone's point of view of a city the have rarely, if not ever been to.
Loving this video, watching this has made me remember how much of a headache it was taking the bus in Chicago, but i really like how they mapped this out, anyway it is a good video and i don't know why i haven't heard of you earlier, i will be subscribing for more. 10/10
They definitely nailed the start up and noises of that bus! The clicking before start, the noises of the engine etc.. That's a gillig, I drove them while in college :)
Actually, this bus is a New Flyer D-60LF.
this is a new flyer lol
Hey Squirrel, That "lane" on the right isn't actually a bus lane like you described in the beginning of your route. It is street parking but the two white lines are designated bike lanes so it might look like a bus lane. Although there are some bus lanes in the city they are marked with the white diamond markings and signs, as you can see at 35:40
Squirrel I was just gonna say exactly this :)
***** lol, major screw up then. Driving the whole damn video in the parking spaces
***** Thanks for explaining that, was wondering why there were cars parked in the lane Squirrel was calling the bus lane :D
I live in Chicago and the kendzie bus barn is right by me.
Vince Bucaro Looks like we have a fellow Chicagoan on our hands :)
they made that area way to clean in this game tho didnt they. i mean had some grime and make it feel real lol
I lived in Chicago for 2 years and believe me it's *that* clean. Well downtown is anyway lol. It's a very.. sterile city
It's Kedzie
Vince Bucaro is all of Chicago completely one way traffic? Weird in this SIM.
Awesome! More OMSI 2! Thanks Paul!
Squirrel I live about 60 miles north of Chicago & have been in downtown a few times this is so cool
I love New Flyers D40LF and DE60LF those two were on Chicago
Did anyone here ever play Midtown Madness?
John Dennis I did.
Carl Lawrence That game was MLG :)
John Dennis Yeah used to play it. Good times. I enjoyed the missions specially.
Unfortunately, the PC CD does not work anymore on my new hardware (win 8.1)
Pat Host Sad times :(

Another great video, great to watch!
Oh wow, this route is really cool. I love the map, its so detailed!
Green and Orange line trains are elevated. Red is a subway.
Red line after the loop and after cermak is elevated
Take this from someone who lives in Chicago... WOW this is realistic!
Ikr. Did you hear him say Green and Orange line trains are subway? lol he should come visit before he makes another video.
@@carringtonwoods2 Red and blue too lmao... I am from Chicago as well
@Christian Ray What bus are you using?
Just needs more traffic
i live in the suburbs of aurora, and ive went to chicago tons of times, being EVEN IN THE SUBURBS, there are crazy maniac drivers everywhere.
everyone reply preying for squirrel not to die.
he has great content,i cant lose it.
Great video really enjoy watching OMSI 2 for some reason you definitely make it fun to watch. It's up there only behind Euro Truck 2 as my favorite content from you. Keep up the good work your streams are always great to.

Hey squirrel, took a metra train into Chicago yesterday. Very fun time in Chicago yesterday.
I am born and raised in Chicago. this DLC is absolutely spectacular!!!!!!! thank you for posting. im actually watching this vid smiling! ha!. I cant wait to play this game
Wow. I want to see them do a map of New York City LMFAO 😂
I love Chicago, I live in Illinois
Great video man (as always). I did want to point something out. I don't know if it's like this in Chicago, but in most States it's illegal to switch lanes while in the middle of an intersection. You have to wait till you completely cross the intersection to switch. Once again, great video. Keep them coming.
Squirrel : Thanks for putting this OMSI 2 video up of Downtown Chicago. Felt like I was back home in the Chicago area and visiting the downtown area. Quite a few places that I did recognize as well as quite a few I think they had left out. The taxis (cabbies) are fairly rude in Chicago as well, as you could tell. Along with the people that were blocking the intersection, they do technically have the right of way here in America when their lights turn red and yours green. For the announcements on the transit lines, we too have different colored/coloured lines as well with our underground/elevated transit. The CTY adverts being announced are just an off shoot of the actual transit system in Chicago, the Chicago Transit Authority, or CTA for short. With changing one letter to avid getting sued, like the rock band Chicago, who were named C.T.A. before the Transit Authority had asked them to change the name or otherwise face a lawsuit. In short, thank you for posting this. It was very fascinating and entertaining getting your take on Chicago. Hopefully you visit the city soon and enjoy yourself with the local food and entertainment.

Actually Paul, you can't turn right on a red in EVERY state. For example, in NY, you can only turn right at a red unless there's a sign indicating so. But, in Pennsylvania, you can. I'm not so sure about Illinois...
Me niether with Illi, but in Oregon, it's the same as New York then. If a sign is present restricting it, you of course aren't suppose to do it. Most places it is possible however. U-Turns are ran by the exact same rule set as the right turns here in Oregon, oddly enough haha.
In Illinois you can unless of course there is a sign advising not to.
Actually you can turn right on red at most reds in NY, I live here
Basically in Canada and the in the US, you can turn right on red, unless there is a sign, “No Right on Red”. I forgot where but somewhere in Eastern Canada, there is a whole island where once you enter, there are signs that tell you to not turn right on red.
I do not know much English and understand a little of what you say. But I really like your stream! Keep up the great work!
as a chicagoan this makes me super happy, cant wait to get omsi and the chicago map, hope they add more routes to fully utilize the city
At 48:05...
I flipped my table.
SO MANY PEOPLE don't turn at these arrows and of all the fucking people, squirrel has to show the example and not turn at the arrow either. I think these lights are responsible for 75% of roadrage situations, I used to think these people were just blind elders but no, frikin Squirrel don't even see the arrow either!
AAAAH
The fuck are you on about?
Watch at 48:05
as I said he doesn't go forward at the arrow.
Rainbow Soviet Dash The fuck are you on about? I can't see no arrows
The light. Look at the lights
Thats true. The main cause for this are the noobtards out there texting instead of paying attention. I'm sure squirrel didn't see the light tho.
MY HOMETOWN!!!
What city you live in?
BERZERK GAMER Chicago. 5 miles outside of downtown. When Squirrel is on the 290 (Interstate) you can see an exit for Western Ave that would take you North to my neighborhood.
Steve Z I work for the CTA!
Obecny75 NICE! Like the logo. 3 times in 6 years during cap era? Dynasty. Been a Hawks fan my whole life.
Steve Z I live in Saint Louis Im So close to this
I don't even own this game (I really want to though) but I would just like to thank you for the thorough walkthrough of what every button does. Finally, someone who takes the time to explain what the game has to feature instead of just rushing through it!
wish my OMSI 2 was working, awesome vid Squirrel!!
At 1:35 he mentions the Adler Planetarium which my great great grandfather started. :)

This video is very detailed and very funny as well!
15 yrs City Bus driver, on the floor to the left of the steering wheel you will see two floor buttons. Those are foot activated turn indicators. You ride with your left foot in between the buttons and then lift and pivot the toe of your left foot and press the direction you wish to go, then return to center position after the turn. I don't know how it works in game, but that is how it's done IRL. Love all the Videos.
55:50 RIP white guy, youz aboutz to get mugged fool. Welcome to Chicago home boi.
It's near the museums during the middle of the day...There's a 99% chance he wouldn't get mugged.
I never understood Celsius I'm a Fahrenheit guy :P
You were correct with the stop sign Squirrel. Whoever stops at the stop sign first has right of way. If two cars get there at the same time, whoever is on the right has right of way.
Another good video Squirrel.
This game is like a flight sim. Everything is clickable, the sceneries are a bit shit standard, and it runs like a turd.
Stephen de Riel ...but still it is fascinating. :-)
Stephen de Riel Yes. But slower.
+I'm Monte aww
i also dont have equipment
The mouse steering is also acceptable, played it for more than 3 years without a wheel. :-)
aboutOmsi agree.
I feel like Squirrel says 'schedule' funny, or is it just me? 12:14
I've heard people say it in 2 different ways, "SHedule" and "SKedule". You can guess which is the American and incorrect version.
it's kinda crazy in my opinion, I just now know this
your not the only one
alright, cool :)
AndreyAngulo He says it correctly.
Just a tip to you Paul when you not in route you need to have your sign on `not in service`and thanks for your upload allways nice to see some OMSI
Squirrel
This is awesome to see. Spent last summer in Chicago and used the public transit. They are very accurate on the models and sounds up to the Ventra Card (the prepaid ride cards for the CTA) scanner noise and "Go" graphic. I'd love to see this expanded into more routes for sure. Even rode the 130 (as well as the 124) on occasion. But the attention to detail is superb!
The "Underground" also known as the "L" Train in Chicago is set up as a hub and spoke style with the Loop being at the heart of the spoke. The Red, Orange and Green lines as you heard on your route all go to different parts of town. Orange goes around the loop and heads south, the Red runs from the North to the South and the Green runs from the South to the West making its West/South turn on the Loop.
Also a quick explanation of the adverts you mentioned on the bus. It was for the CTA or also known as the Chicago Transit Authority which operates the buses as well as the L Trains runs adverts for their Ventra Cards. Now the 130 is geared for both transit and tourists, so the advert you heard was for tourists, advertising their three day pass that is offered on the Ventra Card system. 124 is also used by tourists so chances are it will also have that or a similar advert when you run the route
hi where did you get the game
he says it in the vid; steam
oh ok
STEAM
In the omsi 2 dlc in steam
Hi squirrel please more project cars
Sameer Momin o
This is so cool! I live in Chicago in downtown!
Excellent video. However, in Chicago, the local highways are called Express Ways. Just as in Los Angeles, they are called Free Ways. The state of Illinois also has Tollways and Interstates. Small point, but this is a great video.
Every state in the US, except for Alaska, officially have Interstates. Not every state has tollways, and those that do most likely built them before the Interstate highway system. The term “Expressway” are usually used to name many types of roads. For example, Kansas Expressway, which is only a four lane avenue in Springfield, Missouri. But I think that Expressways are basically what freeways are.
"It's good morning, FOOL!"
VolvoGustav shut up
nerd!
in a good way tho
You have a definite future as a Chicago bus driver. Nice video.
These are surprisingly relaxing!
Hey Paul. Bought this DLC based on your recommendation ( this is not a complaint, btw,so keep reading), and I simply love it. Thanks to this introductory video I found myself quite familiar with both buses and map in no time.
Thanks,Paul.
Squirrel on😎
Cool video! Remember that area of Chicago very well. On a side note I believe you have to do a complete stop on each stop sign no matter do you see pedestrians or not.
just awesome again i did so enjoy watching this thank you
I'm from Illinois and that is about Chicago to a T!
Great vid... nice driving for your first time in the states.. welcome to the US 👏👏 Make more pls 😉
This is great to learn for situations that may occur, like in the movie "Speed"
Love the DLC! Keep it up Paul (or Dan LOL)
for those interested, this bus is a 2008-2009 New Flyer DE60LF with a Cummins ISL Engine and a Allison EP-50 HybriDrive System, it's Hybrid Fuel Propulsion, CTA got 208 of them (4000-4207): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Transit_Authority
this is modeled very nicely and I am American so I should sort of know. Great job and thanks for telling us true info. Other youtubers just give bad info and aren't that helpful. GG. :)
This really plays like it was designed by someone who is from or spent a lot of time in Chicago. I don't expect Squirrel to know all the landmarks (You were at Ogilvie when you thought you were at Union), but the announcer voice sounded a LOT like the voice of the CTA. I'm really impressed.
OlPurpleBeard but at 37:00 I was shouting at my screen "You are RIGHT there! Look left! That's the Sears Tower!".
OlPurpleBeard A-hem. You mean the Willis Tower.
No, I don't.
Very nice video indeed Squirrel :)
Keep em coming!
This is great I am from Chicago I wish they had more parts of the city besides downtown to drive in proud north sider here!
haha always check ur window great video well done love it
Looks like a DLC I might need!
Been playing again yesterday and I was running behind 20 minutes and as he sad they only complain
In the US (at least here in NY), you get the ROW if you get there first. Now, if theres a car behind you and a car turning in your *from* direction... the car that is turning has to wait all the way until the last car passes, then can complete its turn.
The electronic fare on the Chicago busses is called Ventra. And the non extended bus has a bit direct instrument cluster with the location of climate controls etc
30:00 that building to the left side of the street with glass facade, is the CTA headquarter. I work there on 9th floor.
Funny how you called the L (elevated rail) the Underground.
I also find it interesting how you call what we would call a Gas Station a Garage. I think of a Garage as a cement structure you would park your vehicle in. I think how there are different words for the same stuff. :)
One detail I found really cool, is the school buses in front of the Museum. That's so true to life, where kids take field trips to museums.
If a cop saw you roll through those Stop signs...oh boy. You have to stop for 3 full seconds.
Every stop sign you have to stop Lol... you had the turning light but didn't realize it when you and that truck were in the same lane facing each other. There should be a manual for the road signs just to help out. I gotta say tho, you handled that 60 ft like a pro😊
Excellent video! Thanks
One more thing; if you didn't know, you can also actually also legally left turn on red, at least in Chicago. ;) (one way onto another one way)
Please keep the omsi videos coming.
Wow the cta busses are spot on!!!
I live just outside of Chicago.P.S. YOUR THE BEST KEEP IT UP!😁
hey squirrel, i love this episode. i take the blue line and the bus every day to school. i'd like to point out that the true names of the L lines are their colors. there is no other name for the blue line other than the blue line. otherwise, the modeling as far as the bus itself is very accurate both inside and out. love the vid!
another awesome vid thank you
This is cool, they use the same kind of busses around where I live
