There will come a time when serious questions must be asked as to the viability of such a line in it's location adjacent to the river, and whether a much more frequent bus service would be a better option. Some years ago there was one bus in the evening to fill a gap in the train service which was as quick as the train.I speak as a former BR employees who is keen to promote rail where it's the best option.
Good to see previous work on the Conwy Valley line speeded repairs this time. Question: Amongst the increasing number of climate related incidents, are any patterns forming to allow predictive, rather than reactive actions to improve resilience?
@@raymondflanagan9355 Thank you, Raymond. I haven't been on that route before. Done Eaglescliffe - Darlington but not E - Northallerton. Maybe someday.
Storms do play a part in causing massive destruction and disruption to our railways because of climate change. And we are going to see more of it happening every month and every year throughout our lifetime.
@@TrainsOfDorset I mean true, but they cancelled Hs2, yet they don’t even wanna electrify Trans - Pennine routes like the Calder valley line or the hope valley line? And these are Major railway routes too!
@@Dragonfoxyaj I think it's a cost-benefit thing. They only really care about how difficult it is to do, and how expensive it is to do, in comparison to how much money it will save them.

They are already doing preventative measures
That viaduct is massive in the last part of the video
I was equally impressed. However, I don't know where that is. I can't remember even seeing a photograph of it before.

Why are so many lines unelectrified?
Electrification costs a lot
