I currently live in Wellington and i will be visiting south island soon via interislander. I will arrive in picton, can you please guide me west coast must visit places as i have allocated a day for west coast

One day is way too short to do anything! You will have to spend the whole day driving if you do the whole West Coast?! Maybe a quick pitstop in Punakaiki could be fun, but aside from that, it's a whole day of driving. You need 2-3 days to enjoy it :)
