Superman, 28 years later, Avatar 3 possibly M.I are hits. The rest more Blockbuster Bombs. Its time for the Studio's to fire their A.I Writing departments
28 Years Later will do well against its modest budget, but its a niche franchise and it probably won't break 300 million globally unless it's REALLY good. Danny Boyle hasn't really had a legitimate hit since Slumdog Millionaire and he just doesn't seem to have the instincts for pop cinema anymore.
I only go when my daughter absolutely wants me to take her to see the latest animated feature. The last film I ever saw for myself at the theater was Gravity. I think that was 11 years ago lol
I come to Film Threat to get motivation to start going to watch movies again. If 2025 is like 2024, I'm going to watch about ten or less. Really enjoy Chris & Alan's enthusiasm- great video.
Fantastic Four feels like a rush job, doesn't it? Seems like they were still casting the principal characters only a couple months ago. Compare to how long it took (is taking) to finish Captain America 4 or The Marvels. This means they either went into production with a solid script for Fantastic Four (which I doubt) or they are half-assing it.
In a few weeks we're getting Flight Risk, which is the first movie directed by Mel Gibson since Hacksaw Ridge almost nine years ago. That one should be good since all his other directed movies are.
Honestly I checked out the 2025 release schedule and it's looking pretty grim... Still possible some as-yet-unknown indie or foreign film come out of left field and surprise us all. This time last year nobody was talking about The Substance, or Count of Monte Cristo, or Anora, or Heretic or Longlegs or Kneecap. But for me those were the best new films I saw this year.
I really should pick up a copy of _Vanishing_ _Point_ and watch it again. I'd anticipate rewatching this 50 year old movie more than all of these new releases put together.
Tom cruise refused to apologize for non use of DEI and most importantly, he THANKED the fans before top gun 2, while 99% of the rest of Diddywood insulted us.. I may utterly be disgusted with scientology but Tom Cruise has become 1 of the most excellent actor of old..
Use the following on an IMDB score. Subtract 4.5 from the IMDB rating and then apply the remainder to a 4 star scale. They seriously pad some of the most mediocre films.
It's really sad when today's "highbrow" movies are things that would have been aimed at kids 40 years ago. When I was little, I looked forward to growing up and having and having my own "boring" movies to enjoy instead of just wanting to see kid movies. We aren't getting "The Verdict" or "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid", "Network", or "China Syndrome". That's why I'm staying home to see those movies now.
Anticipated: 28 years later, mission impossible (dead reckoning part. 1 was quite good), Avatar 3 (I like great visuals). 🤞 I have little hope for Superman, not interested in in Fantastic Four because of Pedro Pascals. 🤦♂ Let's hope we have a few unexpected surprises!
10 years ago i would have lost my shit for Thunderbolts, 5 years ago i would still give it a chance. In 2025, i sway from not caring to grim expectations
M3gan 2.0, MI:8, Love Me, and maybe Wild Robot 2 - all AI related. Then, maybe Superman. These are the ones which come to mind, but it's probably going to be more. Edit: 28 Years Later, Avatar 3, Mickey 17
For me the 28 Years Later and MI are my two and the rest can get hauled off. I usually trust James Gunn but Peacemaker had some flaws that I think took the focus away from the main Character.
MI Final Reckoning. How to train your dragon, because I love the cartoons. But I am worried about how they are going to do this. Superman, maybe. And that's it, unless good word of mouth gets out about some of the others.
They’ve already race swapped Astrid and made lug nut much different and 1 of the twins either identify as tr@ns or binary… There is 0 need for whet they call live acrion when 99% is cgi..smh Why don’t they just focus on a new story and keep the original characters. I was watching a reviewer that has been on a few podcast and he said disney has already filmed most of the live action remake (liar) Cinderella, she gets saved by her best friend when the queen dies and she’s most likely gay and they are mostly done with Hercules LIAR and of course they didn’t offer hades to James woods and apparently the actor that plays hades is horrible so now they are thinking of asking James😂, I have no doubt they’ll do something for the message in that one as well..
I really want Captain America 4 to be good I fear it won’t, which sucks because out of the remaining MCU characters I’ve always liked Anthony Mackie as Falcon/Cap
I'm super psyched for Mission Impossible. I SHOULD be excited for Superman, but I don't have high hopes. I'm not even mildly excited about anything else. How sad is that? One movie I'm excited for, one I'm more or less ambivalent about, and that's it. Nothing else. Hollywood is basically dead.
"The only reason people will see Jurassic World Rebirth is Scarlett Johansen"? The reason most people, especially kids, see any Jurassic Park is for the Dinosaurs!! And having Dinosaur pets. C'mon Alan! Draw on some of the young in your heart. LOL
It's funny how those "geek channels" have like 2-3 francises they're interested in, and they're always the same franchises, but everything else is like "why did they make another?" even though the same questions can be asked about everything else. They made it because of dinosaurs, because it makes just as much sense as another DC or Marvel sequel and it may be the most successful movie of the Summer. And maybe it will be good.
@@dennyawright21 anyone who supports monkeys (yes that’s what celebrities are, dance monkey dance) that told us they loath us and chose communism I’ll never see my time or money
The Superman trailer hit a "double" in what universe? It's one of the most viewed trailers of all time, every reaction video on UA-cam is grown men and women crying over a dog, and every comment under every outlet of the trailer is talking about how brilliant it is.
I can’t wait for Avatar: Fire and Ash. How often do people see a new James Cameron movie now? It’s not like before when he had a new movie come out every 2-3 years
I''ll probably watch "28 Years Later" and a few independent movies (and of course Nosferatu when it shows in my country) so it will be another cheap year (not unlike the past 10 desert years) Zero interest in the other nine movies (but I'm not a kid so maybe I'm a bit unfair)
still waiting for adaptations of all sorts of wonderful novels as NEW standalone films... not wasting my time and hard-earned $$ on trash sequels and reboots. if they want to make a female-led film, how about Anne McCaffrey's Crystal Singer? Been waiting for decades now for a Fafherd and Grey Mouser film and an Elric movie.... Cheers!
I signed up for Disney + for $2.99 for a year so I could watch the three Marvel movies this year. Im DONE going to the theater to watch ANYTHING made by Disney. They’re not consistent enough for that kind of investment anymore.
The oddball collection of powers that the Fantastic Four have is inherently stupid. The FF has always struck me as something put out in a hurry by cynical men catering to highschool dropouts, and I know that that’s a deeply offensive statement to most comic book fans. I don’t think that a good Fantastic Four movie is possible. Just admit that Kirby and Lee messed up! They were only human.
Actually in a hurry is true. Based on stories I've heard FF was put out because Marvel needed a team book to compete with DC'S Justice League and the idea for The Avengers was a couple years away as the individual Heros were only just being created separately
Superman is the one which interests me the most
Snow White 🤍
Same

I cant see Thunderbolts. That’s not Taskmaster. Until they fix that, I just cant.
Yup and ff with Pedro pascal and female silver surfHER
I haven't been to the movies in years and it's going great
I only go when my daughter absolutely wants me to take her to see the latest animated feature. The last film I ever saw for myself at the theater was Gravity. I think that was 11 years ago lol
That IMDB list is incredibly sad. The ONLY interesting film on that list is "28 Years Later", and frankly, I can wait for that to come to streaming.
I have a feeling that this new MCU “Fantastic Four” will make the Roger Corman version look like “Citizen Kane”.
I so agree other than Roger could do it better.
I come to Film Threat to get motivation to start going to watch movies again. If 2025 is like 2024, I'm going to watch about ten or less. Really enjoy Chris & Alan's enthusiasm- great video.

A female Silver Surfer is all you need to know its in the half ass stage of production.
Nothing but sequels, franchises, and remakes. Isn’t anything else of interest scheduled to come out this year?
Mickey 17, F1 and a Michael Jackson biopic, from what I can recall.
In a few weeks we're getting Flight Risk, which is the first movie directed by Mel Gibson since Hacksaw Ridge almost nine years ago. That one should be good since all his other directed movies are.

Fantastic Four would've been best served by an animated streaming service in the style of Arcane. Now THAT would be something to see...

What did mission impossible do to upset imdb so much?!

I may utterly be disgusted with scientology but Tom Cruise has become 1 of the most excellent actor of old..
It's Part 2 to a film that severely underperformed, lost a bunch of money and it's mostly forgotten. The new MI won't do better than the last one.
IMDB list is just a list of who paid them the most money to shill their movie.
Use the following on an IMDB score.
Subtract 4.5 from the IMDB rating and then apply the remainder to a 4 star scale.
They seriously pad some of the most mediocre films.
Disney has the most money yet it's not first
None of the best films of 2024 were on anyone's radar this time last year.
It's really sad when today's "highbrow" movies are things that would have been aimed at kids 40 years ago.

M3gan 2.0, MI:8, Love Me, and maybe Wild Robot 2 - all AI related. Then, maybe Superman. These are the ones which come to mind, but it's probably going to be more.
Edit: 28 Years Later, Avatar 3, Mickey 17
I have given up on new movies and now I am just OK being surprised by a good one every now and then.
Superman and Mission Imposible are on my list
Bedknobs and Broomsticks! Yes lol I hope Superman is awesome
I’ll see MI Final Reckoning. The other nine, I have either no interest in or absolute contempt for.
For me the 28 Years Later and MI are my two and the rest can get hauled off. I usually trust James Gunn but Peacemaker had some flaws that I think took the focus away from the main Character.
Piss taste
Mine are:
Mission Impossible
Superman
Sinners
28 Years Later
C. America Brave New World
Wolf Man
Ballerina
Avatar
Mickey 17

I really do want Superman,Ballerina & 28 Years Later,to be successful. I'm gettin' too old for this bad movie trend shit;)
I despise Pedro Pascal. I'll not see it because of him.
Yeah, he’s an ignorant ass. Not supporting him.
The will put Pedro in every movie soon.😂
I wouldn't use "despise", but I tired of seeing him everywhere; he was a HORRIBLE choice to play Reed Richards.
Roger that.
Not attractive and his acting seems ho-hum.
I really want Captain America 4 to be good
I fear it won’t, which sucks because out of the remaining MCU characters I’ve always liked Anthony Mackie as Falcon/Cap
No thank you: I’m not ever gonna watch a movie based on an IP for the rest of my life.

Look into M3gan 2.0, "Love Me" it's also about AI and I'm not sure if it's going to be good.
Mission Impossible & 28 Years Later.......that's it for me.

Isnt there supposed to be a new Miles Morales Spiderverse movie? The last one ended on a pretty big cliffhanger.
