    Louis Upon the death of his father, Philip IV the Fair, Louis X ascended the throne in an unstable political context. He tried to clean up the financial situation of the kingdom, which was heavily indebted, by reforming the currency and fighting corruption.
    Louis X is also known for having abolished the slavery of serfs in the royal domains, which earned him a certain popularity. However, this measure did not apply to the entire kingdom.
